Just some simple folk whole owned some incredible instruments , played incredible music, created a legacy, and shared a incredible life together Just some simple folk......we thank you!!
This was the Old Time Country Music Show on IPTV on Thursday night. I watched every one if I could, great stuff. There were a lot of nationally known players on that show. I taped a bunch of them on VHS, and still have a player. I'm going to have to dig them out and listen to them again.
Bob Minner recently released a "tribute" album to Norman (and Nancy) Blake that includes this (with Mike Compton) and another of her great mandolin tunes, "Year of the Locust (Farewell to Old Rufus)." The album tracks are now on YT.
And that's how its done. What a pleasure to listen to!
Dad has said since they met in '72 that Nancy was a more talented, natural musician than he is.
Can't we just say they both are incredible talented musicians ?
Looks like Norman’s own son giving that testimonial about Nancy!
Yep

yeah, but nobody beats Paganini, Mozart, Bethoven, Tchaikovsky, or Vivaldi.
I can honour that. Thanks for sharing.
I'm always so impressed by how relaxed and fluid Nancy's picking hand looks.
You're dead right, amazing.
Also Normans ! What a perfect team !!!
You're right, same with Norman
Lovely relaxed and clean sound Nancy. You two are great. 🏴🇺🇸👍
Beautifully understated mandolin by Nancy.
Two of our finest multi- instrumentalists! Great tune highlighting
Nancy's skills on the mandolin.

I love listening to Nancy Blake. I wish her record Grand Junction was on RUclips
Two great musicians keeping American traditional music alive, thanks 👍🇺🇸
Going back to the 70's, I always preferred Norman when Nancy came in with the mandolin. Added that sad sweetness.
Some of the best mandolin tone I’ve ever heard.

Thanks for that good info Irvin!
I really like Nancy B's mandolin playing. It sounds great here as it does on her solo album. That looks like Noman's F-5.
Been a "british invasion" guy all my life. I'm 54. I play mostly acoustic these days (A D18 and a D28). I'm quickly becoming a Norman Blake fan :)
ABSOLUTELY LOVE Norman and Nancy Blake
Good tune and some fine pickin' by Nancy!
What a beautiful light touch.
She's so smooth !
Lloyd Loar and the perfect touch
This is lovely!!
So nice!
So elegant and beautiful.
Breaks my heart.
This is soul food
If I come back, I want to be with Nancy Blake.
PERFECT! IT IS PERFECT
What a beautiful sounding mandolin. It may be a Loar. It has that desirable "barking" quality! She has flawless technique.
Agreed, but it is a Gibson. Headstock says "The Gibson" old, maybe '30s?
Loar was the last name of the man who perfected Gibson's mandolin sound. Some "Loar's" sell for over $100,000 today.
@@flightplan1000 I believe that Nancy Blake was the first woman to own a "Loar."
it is a Loar
@@archtopp1 I think Donna stoneman probably owned one.
There are many people that play the notes. Conveying feelings are another matter........... :)
That’s what makes Norman Blake my favorite guitarist...
What a hidden gem...goose bumps...rinse and repeat... stuck in my head now
Timeless. Shows talent, understated as only a woman can do.
so good!
Very nice. Pretty song.
This tune composed by Nancy just shows how much of a vertuoso she is. I have never heard this tune since this performance, sadly.

Perfect!
I want what Norman and Nancy has
Any idea where there's a complete performance of this venue?
Very tasteful pickin', indeed!
Norman and Nancy
I was the 700th like. 😎
Am I the only one that hears similarities of Bill Monroe's " Last Days on Earth " ?
They were brothers I assume ?
No need for a TV in their home. They got a mandolin and guitar.
