Whoever is having trouble with this boss in hard mode, counterstance is your friend. Just attack the red whisper intially, watch his sword and do counterstance. I used that and seriously didn’even call a summon in this battle. Pretty much had all the MP as well. Save your limit break for bahamut. Last phase is probably the easiest of all.
Yeah, per the description starshower ramps up follow up attacks. I ignored it in the game due to its lengthy (but cool!) ramp up but watching vids like this have me reconsidering putting it back into one of the hot keys

I hate this fight and the friggin cut scenes, games need to stop putting cutscenes in these fight. If you fail you have to watch them over! I kept losing to Bahamut. Thanks for the guide, really helpful and my counter stance skill has improved a little

Don’t underestimate the hardedge sword, this is hard mode cause of the fact items are greyed out in the commands menu, and as we all know this game doesn’t allow items on hard mode
I will literally pay someone to do this for me on shareplay. I’m beyond exhausted. 100 hours into this game, this is the final thing for the platinum. I know it’s not the right way to get it, but I have very little time to game, put 10+ hours learning the other fights, and my mind won’t let it go until I get this last trophy done.

finish the game without limit break accessory is more challenging I think you should try it first. but if you can finish the top secrets it's going to be easy fight.

as I'm testing, it depends on how well character perform in this battle. maybe most used? kill count? I'm not exactly sure but what I did is kill Bahamut with Tifa, giant whisper with Aerith and it's works. sry about my eng.
During my few Sephiroth fights, seems like which ever 2 other character that you have more green materia equipped will be in the last fight, but just my observation though, nothing confirmed. Since I always put 4 elemental spells and heal on Aerith, which is more green materia than the others, I was guaranteed to get her last fight everytime. MaliceNX might also be right though. Nothing confirmed from the developer so far, so we don't really know 100%
I'm curious about this as well. On my hard clear, I got Tifa for the ch 14 scene, yet Aerith showed up first. I didn't even do all 6 quests during chapter 8 on my hard clear (only did 3 for the dress), while doing all 6 with Tifa on Ch 3. On my first playthrough, I got Tifa first (but did all 6 quests in ch3 and 8).
There is a point system for guaranteeing who is in Cloud's party for the final battle. It's based on who does the final blows on each of the whisper enemies. I don't remember if you also get points for Staggering, but the majority of points is from Whisper Bahamut and Harbinger. This is why I've never seen Barret join the party 2nd, but if confirmed you can get points for Staggering, then it's possible.
Very good. I fail to beat this second last boss in hard atm. I mostly struggle cause I am constantly interrupted and sent flying around the battlefield by all the enemy attacks. I really do not understand why you are only rarely attacked and interrupted. I looked at your loadout and keep asking myself: 1) why PARRY? What is it good for except making fancy looking flick flacks and shit? 2) why so much LUCK? You have 145 with cloud. Does it really make a huge difference in dps when attacking? 3) why the heck DEADLY DODGE for the AI (tifa and barret)? Does it really help with anything? Its not that the AI is dodging around much. I find this is the worst design of a boss in the whole game. While all other bosses are really fun to play, I really dislike this Whisper Harbingers. Too bad. Keep up the great work. Your videos are most entertaining, yet helpful.
1. parry cancel attack animation like I did with cloud punisher in 1:17. very helpful 2. luck increase critical chances. good to pair with dps characters 3. deadly dodge helps build ATB. I use it sometimes.. maybe you can replace with cure, raise to be more helpful . it's not affect the AI sry about my English >
My understanding is that the lack of interruption comes from frequent use of Counterstance, and from Cloud drawing aggro. The party doesn't get interrupted when healing because the AI focuses on the player-controlled character. So basically, by controlling Cloud you lure the Whispers in to just target you, and counter their attacks while the party provides support.
It's impossible because after the first fight with the 3 whisperers the big one has to move that car and sends a guest of wind that hits you no matter where you stand.
Yeah this is very hard to believe. I can’t play this fight without my party getting destroyed in the background and me constantly getting hunted down by the red whisper. The fact that this gameplay doesn’t even have them attack you as much is suspect.

Stuntman Boi it’s not so much about what I’m doing. It’s more so what the NPC does. In his videos they don’t seem half as aggressive as they are when I’m playing.

How did you get two force bracelet?
If you didn’t sell your first force bracelet to a vendor cause it looked useless with the 9 defense, just kill the swordipiede in chapter 17 again

hardedge+fury ring+Counter is the key for quick kill. gotterdemarung is helpful too
you need to focus on the red whisper and only use Cloud. if you do, the blue and yellow one will focus on Tifa and Barret.
