Impressive as usual. Just fought this boss in hard mode for the first time last night. Not particularly difficult boss, but definitely not easy to beat without taking damage. He killed one of my characters by picking him up and slamming down into the ground a couple of times.
Who would have thought that a boss could be susceptible to status ailment like sleep?! It's a blessing to just get a basic ailment like poison on most regular enemies.
Fury rings give quite a buff to the damage we can inflict. Since enemies usually get pressured after a certain amount of damage, those rings can help us reach that threshold faster. The faster enemies get pressured, the faster they get staggered.
I know it’s a late reply but just for someone in a similar situation who is reading this in the future: Go to chapter 14 and just go straight for the Don’s manor. You can get a chocobo to take you near there so it will take about a minute to get there from the start of the chapter. Enter the manor, open the doors on the other side, and there will be a gap you can squeeze through under the stairs to open the chest. Simply equip the ring to another party member, save, and re select the chapter to get the remaining rings you need and repeat.

yeah the slam... fight this guy close is risky. that's why I use mage build for this fight :D
Now I just feel stupid after not even considering using Sleep.
