    Good morning Laura,
    My grandmother puts a golf ball in the area she wants her chickens to lay and it works for her every year. Might be something you can try before the other girls start laying

    • @klcpca
      @klcpca 5 лет назад +20

      We used this also when I was growing up.... by taking every egg every day, the chickens don't get the urge to make a clutch. If you leave a golf ball or similar item, the chickens will think it is a egg and they will want to form a clutch so they tend to lay everyday.!! 🙂 www.gracegardenandhomestead.com/getting-your-chickens-to-lay-eggs-in-their-boxes/

Even worse for me, it happens while I'm using them. Talking to myself in the yard, where did I put them, I just had them over there?!?! Thanks as always for sharing your beautiful yard and how you do everything so the rest of us can benefit from your knowledge and experience! My plants thank you also, they are much happier and healthier this year! ❤️☺️🌻🌱

    I just need to share that brother and his wife just moved from Sacramento back to Puerto Rico. Anyway, he had to drive to Florida in order to get his belongings on a ship to get back to PR and so he drove, across the country, with a tiny rooster who wouldn’t leave his side, a chicken that wasn’t the smartest of the bunch and the first chicken he had ever gotten with her newly hatched babies, all so he could leave them with our older brother who lives in a rural part of Florida. (He did find a home for the majority of his roost before moving)
    I mean, literally drove across the country with two dogs, two chickens, a rooster and like 8 or more chicks. 😂 I just about die every time I think about it.

    Just a little side: if you decided to cut back the gomphrena- it makes a WONDERFUL dried flower and its a "cut and come again" so you could trim it back, hang the cut blooms to dry and still get a nice second flush of blooms while allowing that part of the lawn to be watered. Win-win-win!

      @Bamboo4U2 5 лет назад +1

    My neighbor in Arizona tells me that you can find black widows at night with a black light. They like to hang from the gutters and tops of the house.

    5.38 You know you can stuff the flowers. You need to pick them early morning before they close. Rice, grated onion,parsley and close the top with your fingers and put them next to stuffed aubergines and peppers and cut some potatoes,put everything in a baking pan ,pour olive oil and tomatoe juice on top and stick them in the oven.

    Wow, so much work involved, I always wanted to plant a row of Hollyhocks in a section of my yard, now I'm thinking that could be more work than I want it to be, I do love them, but now I might have to rethink that idea. So sorry about the gophers, I never knew they could be such a pain in the rear. Always so good to see Aaron as well, and a little bit of the Russell kitty, we hardly ever see Cheddar. Thanks for sharing this video.

    Move the sprinkler heads. That way you can correct multiple problems: you have better coverage on the lawn grass AND you once said you had problems with the flowerbed getting too much overhead watering from the lawn causing restrictions as to what can be planted there. The petunias din't like the excess water. Other plants too may restrict your choices. And now you have height restrictions further limiting what you can plant in the bed.

    Off topic: I have a fountain like the one under your crabapple tree but on a smaller scale. My statue is very "tipsy" and I'm afraid a strong wind will blow her over. How do you secure a statue to the fountain so it won't blow over????

    I absolutely understand why you want the gophers to move out to the field but I chuckled for a moment and thought...hmm..they would much rather be in your cool, well watered, lush garden. Good luck 🥰

    I would take those hollyhock seeds. I have been trying to get them started on my place in TN. The first batch of seeds I got off of Amazon ended up to be burdock. (Thanks China sellers) Then I finally got some actual seed but all my plants got rusty blisters. I had to cut them. None of the treatements I tried worked to get rid of it. Maybe it is just too humid to grow hollyhocks where I live. I don't know.
