  • Dimmuborgir is a lava field in Iceland. It is one of the most impressive and fascinating locations in Iceland, at least in my opinion. It is not the obvious landscape photography location so I focus on the intimate and beautiful details you'll find in this location. Dimmuborgir is a must see location no matter if you do photography or not.

very enjoyable video as always Mads... this location looks insane, I cant imagine what it would look like in Autumn but I'm sure it would be stunning... That archway "Church" looks like a shape that is used in the Netflix series Dark... Thanks for sharing buddy...

Hi Mads, This looks like it was taken when we were there in March this year. I got some pleasing images, but if I had seen your video before the trip I would have been more stimulated. In fact I have downloaded all your videos; unfortunately after the trip rather than before. Your work is stunning! Thanks, Eb

Goes to a lava field and first thing he shoots is a tree. That's the irony you sometimes find in photography but its a good thing to find some beauty in anything you come across. ;)
On a side note you can use a macro ring on a 70-200mm and get closer. Works just fine, does the trick very well and is much smaller then taking a dedicated macro lens in your pack.

Tak for videoen. Mvh Stig

A good alternative view of things from you Mads. Intimate landscape photography can be so rewarding and often less venturing required. The key is slowing down of course and I find in the long run, it can actually help your composition when needed for the bigger scenes. 👍

Preparing my trip I discovered the place only few days ago, as it is not the most "iconic" one, and I want to visit also less photographed areas of the country. Happy to see with your video that the place is worth it. Now I have a new challenge to photograph a place you havent showed. At least not yet ! 😂 Excellent job btw !

Stunning as usual Mads. I was there a couple of years ago. Had to drive two women back to their car as they had gotten lost on the trails and ended up miles away from where they had parked. Good idea taking a shot of the trails with your phone before starting!

A great video here Mads where you really put your eye and imagination to work. It’s funny you mentioned Zion because the opening scenes when you entered the area reminded me of exploring some of the eastern side of Zion. It’s about small details there too. How’s the 70-200 working for you on the Sony? Really neat location, rugged yet beautiful. Cheers

Wow the last photo with only the branches standing as if nothing holding is breathtaking.Mads Peter I have watched more than 40 of your Iceland photography and here are some suggestions.
Why can't you move into Large Fotmat camera for iceland subjects.
Why can't you do a separate 30 part iceland photography with drones.
Why can't you do a separate tutorial on drone photography
Hope one day you may convert to any of my suggestions.
It is time to move to new territories.
Iceland is streaming for a large format photographer.who is that I do not know.
    Best wishes for inspiring us.

Hello Mads, again a very interesting Video, thanks. I have a question to you. I saw that you're using a Sony A7R(probably 3, but it doesn't matter) with a 70-200 Canon lense, right? Which adapter do you use, is it a Metabone? Are you happy with it? I own three fantastic Canon lenses, but started to prefer shooting on the Sony, so I was reading a lot about adapters, but opinions are very diverse.
