I like these Homer drafts so much, would be cool to see them with like six or seven people competing so it becomes tougher to nab all the best ones and a lot of those names listed at the end get chosen!
You guys should do an inverse of these lists where you're picking the least home runs, but must have hit at least 1, and a minimum number of games, like 120+ or something. Get some obscure and/or non-power hitters some love too.
Why does everyone forget about Adam Dunn? Just throw a dart in the mid ‘00s and it’s a guaranteed 40+… He was left off the NL Central and the 2000s lists cmon guys
The only "reason" I can think of is he played for he played for bad teams his entire career. 0 career playoff at bats, and his teams finished above .500 1 or 2 times
Bruh they really just left Andruw with 51 in '05 just hanging there... A good strat here is if you don't know any major numbers or awards for a guy, just pick his team's best year in that span. Chances are it's a pretty good number
2000 with 50 was the only year Sammy ever led the league in homers. The 3 years he hit 60+ he never led the league! 1998 he hit 66 and McGwire hit 70, 1999 he hit 63 and McGwire hit 65 and 2001 he hit 64 and Bonds hit 73!
I love this fact. It's absolutely crazy that Sosa has three of the nine sixty-burgers and only led with fifty on the dot Also, had to make sure to scroll down to make sure someone posted this, or else I was gonna do it myself
You guys should draft a starting 9 but go for most years played in the majors! Feel like you could find some sneaky good ones. Could even limit it to most years for a specific team to make it harder
You guys should do a big 10 person office draft stream (should be like an hour or two long) where you have to draft a 9 man lineup and a 5 man rotation. And instead of home runs you do hits for hitters and strikeouts for pitchers, with the highest total of combined hits + K's winning. Cover the years between 1980 and 2020, so you'll still be mostly familiar with the players but you won't have the advantage of using the most recent seasons. It'd be super interesting to see how deep in your bag you'd have to get with that many people and positions to cover. Promote it like its an annual thing that you're gonna start doing, like the super bowl of JM baseball. And each year you could change or adjust the stat categories you use to keep things different and fresh.
Another idea I thought of would be to do something similar to this, but the next time you guys draft make it where you can't pick the same player OR the same year twice. So basically each drafter has to pick one player from each year at each position between 2000-2009. So if a guy picks 2001 Barry Bonds, they can't pick anyone else from the year 2001 for the rest of the draft. Obviously you would have one year that you don't have to pick from since you only need 9 positions. But I think that would make for some really interesting strategy.
my lineup C 2003 Jorge Posada - 30 1B 2000 Jeff Bagwell - 47 2B 2001 Brett Boone - 37 3B 2001 Chipper Jones - 38 SS 2001 Rich Aurilia - 37 OF 2000 David Justice - 41 OF 2000 Gary Sheffield - 43 OF 2003 Preston Wilson - 36 DH 2007 Carlos Pena - 47 TOTAL 356 2nd Place
I drafted in Jakes spot and managed this C. 00 Piazza 38 1B. 07 Fielder 50 2B. 07 Uggla 31 3B. 06 A. Ramirez 38 SS. 04 Tejada 34 OF. 01 Bonds 73 OF. 05 Dunn 40 OF. 05 Jones 51 DH. 06 Ortiz 54 409 like the comments before. this would be really fun with more players
10:49 Weird thing about that season as well, that's the one where he almost killed himself and Mike Cameron in the outfield with that collision at Petco Park. I was at that game. It was one of the worst collisions ever in baseball history, for sure. Just a bad year for Carlos. Cameron still hit as many HR as Beltran that year in half the games played.
When all the years and divisions are done you guys should do this again but have a target amount to hit-without going over..who can pick a lineup of homer numbers and get closest to the target. Like if you agree
@@dillonmurray2283 you say a stretch like it isn't close. I'm telling you pudge is arguably better than Yadi. Better at blocking wild pitches. A better pickoff rate. A better caught stealing percentage.
Doing this with joez is such an inspired choice
A lil slow😂
Joez should be in every video.
I like these Homer drafts so much, would be cool to see them with like six or seven people competing so it becomes tougher to nab all the best ones and a lot of those names listed at the end get chosen!
I would also be interested in seeing pitcher homer numbers
D'Aversa is so perfect at hosting this.
You guys should do an inverse of these lists where you're picking the least home runs, but must have hit at least 1, and a minimum number of games, like 120+ or something. Get some obscure and/or non-power hitters some love too.
Either that or start doing steals or batting average or something
"No one is asking you to do this." had me crying 😂😂😂
Why does everyone forget about Adam Dunn?
Just throw a dart in the mid ‘00s and it’s a guaranteed 40+…
He was left off the NL Central and the 2000s lists cmon guys
I Agree he would get paid in todays game
The only "reason" I can think of is he played for he played for bad teams his entire career. 0 career playoff at bats, and his teams finished above .500 1 or 2 times
"He's a power-hitting second baseman in the National League! Do you know how rare that is?!" every time Utley is mentioned anywhere in life.
Everytime I see Joez play these games I felt there's smoke coming out of his ears from thinking too much lol
Jolly doing Utley and bay back to back is grounds to be removed from Mets convos for awhile just brutal picks lol
The second time the person who picked ‘01 Bonds did not win. You’d think that’d be an easy win, so long as you get some decent seasons from other guys
Possible video idea - to do this but for pitchers and selecting by strikeout?
hitters with most strikeouts!
Or by wins I'd like that too
Love this. Make them have to fill out an entire rotation plus three relievers. Don’t necessarily have to be closers
Or lowest era
Crazy how Jake missed Sosa’s ‘01 twice. He picked ‘00 in the NL Central video and again here.
Love the homer drafts!!! 11:48 hilarious honest Jake. I'm just thinking of all the top 30 games with Joez Jimmy, and Jake.
Bruh they really just left Andruw with 51 in '05 just hanging there...
A good strat here is if you don't know any major numbers or awards for a guy, just pick his team's best year in that span. Chances are it's a pretty good number
I like this game format, but I think you guys have covered 2000’s home run hitters plenty by now
Yeah they could do Hits or SB next
Randomly assigning each player a team would be a fun way to mix it up. Or a draft by total WAR would be a good category
As soon as I saw Joez I knew he was going to come in last.
WILD

Also, had to make sure to scroll down to make sure someone posted this, or else I was gonna do it myself
The Felipe aluuuuuu was too funny
I want these videos to never stop
I was waiting for the Bret Boone pull
Was waiting for someone to take Thome. Also surprised Delgado wasn’t even mentioned at the end
LOVEEEE these homer drafts! Please keep doing them as long as you can ❤
Ultimate answer key
C 2003 Lopez - 43
1B 2006 Howard - 58
2B 2002 Soriano - 39
3B 2004 Beltre - 48
SS 2002 ARod - 57
OF 2001 Bonds - 73
OF 2001 Sosa - 64
OF 2001 Gonzalez - 57
DH 2006 Ortiz - 54
A-Rod was insane being the top pick at SS and 3B!
You guys should draft a starting 9 but go for most years played in the majors! Feel like you could find some sneaky good ones. Could even limit it to most years for a specific team to make it harder
People forgetting about Soriano’s 39 in 02 at 2B kills me every time

I'd love to see an all-pitcher HR draft!
Got a good idea: do pitchers with the most strikeouts or wins in a single season rotation and bullpen.
Love the Jason Kendall shout out from Jake lmao
I lol’ed when he said that
Aaron Hill had 36 at 2nd in 09.
They should add the pitcher for a 10th pick, may have some impact at some point
do more of these with joez
People forget Shawn Green hit 49 in 2001. Crazy year for HRs. I was impressed they remembered Gonzo.
any video with joe’s is a tough watch. dude makes me want to take a toaster bath
I would do a pitcher version of this based off era or strikeouts
Adrian Beltre had an INCREDIBLE career
VIDEO IDEA: Guess the year based off the top 10 batting averages/ERA for the szn or something along those lines
I legit cheered when Jolly hit the Javy Lopez 43.
“Let’s shake on it that we don’t pick Barry Bonds” didn’t they just pick McGwire and Sosa in the other video?
You can do this type of video with other stats too!! Would love to see it
JM Baseball misses Adam Dunn again in a homer draft

my lineup
C 2003 Jorge Posada - 30
1B 2000 Jeff Bagwell - 47
2B 2001 Brett Boone - 37
3B 2001 Chipper Jones - 38
SS 2001 Rich Aurilia - 37
OF 2000 David Justice - 41
OF 2000 Gary Sheffield - 43
OF 2003 Preston Wilson - 36
DH 2007 Carlos Pena - 47
TOTAL 356
2nd Place
I drafted in Jakes spot and managed this
C. 00 Piazza 38
1B. 07 Fielder 50
2B. 07 Uggla 31
3B. 06 A. Ramirez 38
SS. 04 Tejada 34
OF. 01 Bonds 73
OF. 05 Dunn 40
OF. 05 Jones 51
DH. 06 Ortiz 54
409
like the comments before. this would be really fun with more players
These guys love A-Rod 🤣
Love to see the Paul Konerko. Former Yakima Bear from my childhood
You should do an RBI draft video
Joez not taking 03 jorge is craaaaazy
Shawn Green is always forgotten on these lists lol.
you should do another one of these lineups and have it be one from each year of the decade
Thought Travis Hafner was a lock for Jolly
Next time I think Joez picks the guy and everyone else has to pick the year
10:49 Weird thing about that season as well, that's the one where he almost killed himself and Mike Cameron in the outfield with that collision at Petco Park. I was at that game. It was one of the worst collisions ever in baseball history, for sure. Just a bad year for Carlos. Cameron still hit as many HR as Beltran that year in half the games played.
Yall should do this with concept with pitchers and wins/era or something like that, keep the series going
Do this with WAR👹
When are we going to get Strikeout draft and have a full rotation
I love Joez so much
pull together 3 random fans for a similar game 😭😭
2000 Richard Hidalgo 44 tanks. Just gotta shoutout a real underrated player marred by injuries.
do a vintage players one (pre-80s), but don't have to guess the year
The omission of Andruw Jones broke my heart
Crazy no Carlos Peña in 07
Haven't watched the whole video yet, but where's Alfonso Soriano in '02 at 2B
Whelp, Jolly took him in the OF.
Joez makes everything better
Its annoying how nobody picks Joe Mauer in 2009. Thats 28 dongs at catcher.
A strikeout draft would be cool, same thing but with pitchers?
Screaming at my TV for someone to take 05 Andruw Jones
You should do same thing except over a specific time frame. Ie take Bonds 2001-2003 homer totals
i was saying carlos pena 2007 the whole time lol
You should do this but the category is only Hispanic/latino players so you can invite JOEZ back and he’ll have a chance
Next do one with pitcher strikeouts, 5 rotation arms and 4 bullpen arms.
Andruw Jones in 2005! 51 home runs fellas!
Best trio 🚫 🧢
Strikeout draft soon?
I will say it here again. The lack of bagwell is unbelievable.
i wanna see a most homeruns but you can only pick players who have played on teams who have never won a world series
2007 Carlos Peña - Tampa bay
Also was thinking Dan Uggla for 2nd
When all the years and divisions are done you guys should do this again but have a target amount to hit-without going over..who can pick a lineup of homer numbers and get closest to the target. Like if you agree
Do a strikeout draft. 5 starters and 3 relievers.
I was gonna say Mark McGwire. Didn't know he retired in 2001. Still 29 HR tho
No early late 90's/early 00's astros love out of the squad.. hurts my heart
Do left handed and right handed lineups , with one switch hitter
Pudge as the best defensive catcher is a stretch
How? Lmao literally at least top 3. Arguably number 1
@ItsGamingFancy I didn't say he wasn't great. I just simply said he wasn't the greatest. Career fielding % is .991 where as Yadi is .995
@@dillonmurray2283 you say a stretch like it isn't close. I'm telling you pudge is arguably better than Yadi. Better at blocking wild pitches. A better pickoff rate. A better caught stealing percentage.
ALL TIME Players Home Run Edition.
Have to nail the year - pressure
Andruw jones 2005???
4:15 Robinson Cano IS the best Yankees 2B of all time, behind Willie, but If you grew up with those 09 Yanks you know what I mean.
jolly picking guys based on childhood trauma is hilarious
I cannot believe he picked a rod first overall 😂
Carlos Delgado too underrated
Jermaine Dye hit 44 homers?
damn bro joez seemed so sad after lucas bitched at him smh
they forgot about adam dunn
Jose Buatista slept on hard
You would too if you knew how he played in the '00s lol
He didnt get good until 2010
Yea they really slept on his 13 in 2009
How did Stanton not get mentioned at all
05 Derrek Lee dropped 50 for chicago too
Frank Thomas, Jim Thome
Felipe Alou!!
How did no one mention Andruw Jones' 51Hr season in 05 😭
