Saw this club tour of Revenge in Houston at Backstage. Was right at th3 stage, think i was 16. Almost got my hand stepped on by Gene. Got a Bruce Kulick pick
@@JPL1311Eric Singer has never attempted to play like Peter. Singer is a Rock drummer that knows how to groove. Peter was rarely in the pocket and had a swing to his style. Two polar opposites when it comes to drumming styles.
The vintage KISS songs returned to the original tempo, and Kulick didn't worry about trying to play competitively with speed demons anymore. He laid back and played more classic and soulful.
For everyone who ever said they are all about the make up and stage show... they should watch this... Underneath all that they are just a kick ass rock m roll band with great songs.
That's all well and good. Super video and Revenge was a sensational album. Nevertheless, it is very strange to me how Kiss (Paul + Gene) seem to have forgotten their longtime drummer Eric Carr very quickly. Eric Carr was dead less than 6 months at that time. Metallica still pay homage to their former bassist Clive Burton at every concert after almost 40 years. That is decency!
Eric Singer was the drummer who accompanied Paul Stanley during his solo club tour in 1989. So they weren´t new to each other. I lost on Kiss when they made a grunge album ("Carnival..."), remasked and then became the Kiss cover band.
Seen Eric Carr once….sent Eric Singer a lot. That one time seeing Eric Carr has always left a remarkable impression on mysel , and that was in 1986. This Revenge lineup is ok, but honestly no lineup can even come close to the fantastic four. As far as drummers clearly Eric Carr took the band to a whole new level
Its heartbreaking how little MTV payed these VJs. They spent all those years thinking they were building carrers that would continue onward and upward only to get shit canned over night and floundering.
Eh, Riki Rchtman was a tool, but he segued into radio DJ’ing in L.A. until He punched out another DJ. He had to further segue to whatever the fuck he’s doing now. He was a rich kid growing up, so he didn’t have to worry about money anyway.
I love this version of KISS but ever since they put the makeup back on in 1996 they haven't played small clubs like this. Now it's just arenas and stadiums
This was a BAND! Gene and Paul should have stayed the course and kept Bruce. This proved they were musicians first and didn't need the makeup or gimmicks. Wasted opportunity. They were MUCH better when the makeup was off.
This is all so phony and contrived from Gene and Paul. They talk about “going back to their roots” and “doing club shows for the fans.” What was really happening is that they recognized the new grunge movement in music and harder-edged rock bands, like Pantera, and they (once again) changed their sound to try to ride that wave. And, btw, I say this as a lifelong Kiss fan. Kiss, ever since their solo albums have constantly tinkered with and changed their sound to follow popular trends or capitalize on some perceived opportunity. Dynasty - disco era Unmasked - power pop/early MTV era The Elder - trying to recreate Destroyer out of desperation because of losing fans Lick it Up - having to change their image because of terrible album and concert sales Animalize/Asylum/Crazy Nights/Smashes, Thrashes & Hits - glam rock era Revenge/Carnival of Souls - grunge era Psycho Circus/Sonic Boom - reunion era Everything with Gene and Paul after the original four broke apart has been a calculated business move
@@JPL1311 There is a big difference between early Kiss (1973-1978), which had a distinct and consistent sound and later Kiss (1979 - present), which no longer prioritized the original vision and instead prioritized following trends.
Then thos people who didn't attend missed out on something amazing. I saw them in Vancouver. 6500 in attendance. Couldn't care less if there were 10. It was a kick ass show,!
What is this, amateur hour? Why is everyone in Kiss chewing gum during an interview. Very unprofessional and annoying. You can hear them chomping the whole interview.
I miss this MTV so much
It was a special time!
Man, you can really hear the drums in this performance. Thanks for the upload.
They sounded great during this time frame!
This video has kind of a Spinal Tap feel to it. Love it!
Raw footage is always the best!
I was there both nights front row! Met them all those nights!
Such a great time when bands were more accessible not charging for meet n greets

Grunge KISS
I loved the direction they were headed. Carnival of Souls is so overlooked. MTV unplugged changed everything
After the money they made on the Reunion Tour there was no looking back!

a totally different band with kulick.....good stuff..thanx!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow. Fantastic quality. Great footage and sound. Thx a lot for sharing. Best KISS line-up ever!!! 🤘🤘
Glad you enjoyed it! Make sure to check out my other Revenge Era videos
Awesome Video plus the interviews! This era got me into KISS!
Definitely had resurgence during this era!
This one is sick to see, 21 and i was there 💪
How excellent is Bruce!!
Totally underrated guitarist
He doesn't get enough credit for how good he is
Attended the Boston show,et the band prior. It was epic
I was there and I’ll never forget how insanely loud it was.
The were loud the 2 shows they played I'm New York as well!
Very cool to see that stuff
Definitely great footage!
Searing vocals...Paul and band sound SO GOOD 😊
Definitely the best the band sounded live especially non make-up era!
as much as I love the calssic lineup and mr Ace Frehley, this is KISS at its musical best
AGREED! ..Deuce sounded ASTOUNDING on this tour.
I was there, both nights!
It was great to see them bare bones just rocking the place!

Outside of classic 70s Kiss the Revenge line up is BY FAR my favourite, they were never more heavy or tighter as a band .
Agree 100%. They should have gone back to that formula after Peter & Ace left the final time.
Would've be interesting if they went back to this after the Reunion and Psycho Circus Tour
Would of been better if Carr was around R.I.P.
The opening act here is Shooting Gallery. On lead guitar is Andy McCoy from the legendary Hanoi Rocks.
yes and they sound like crap!
I WAS INTERVIEWED FOR THIS WITH MY CALIFORNIA LICENSE PLATE, KISS 73, SIGNED BY ACE, PETER, PAUL AND GENE…
Very cool!
seen this tour..very good
Definitely cool seeing the band in this setting
That would of been so cool to see them in a small club back then.
It was huge for KISS fans back then! A real treat!
I went to the club tour, saw them at the stone in San fran, they opened up with Love gun
This is when Gene went through his "Mexican biker" faze.
😆
It was his best look
More like the “no tongue” phase for Gene.
U mean Hebrew biker faze gene has his own culture an immigrant remember
It was better than whatever he was doing in the 80's.
I love Eric's drumming here! It seems like he is being held back a bit now. Let him play!
Seems like he's trying to replicate Peter more than playing his style

48:26 kiss jamming sabbath is something that I never thought I would see 💀
It started in 1979 for me but this period was the best and the coolest for sure
The look and sound were both badass!
wow.
I saw the first warm up show with Eric playing at a club called After the Gold Rush in Phoenix Arizona

I was at the show in Brooklyn Great show and lots of fun!

Awesome I was at the New York shows!
This and early 76, the best periods !
Definitely and I would say the Twvwnge Era was much tighter and sounded a little better but 76 was pure magic!
Yes!
the double kick fills where the bomb
Definitely a nice combo when Eric and Bruce both played their styles
Not for me. Sounded too busy for my taste.

It seemed like the entire band recommitted to their roots on this tour and it really showed on the Revenge Tour! It was like a rebirth!
Cool

Did the Wrigley Company sponsor this?
