    Hey! Thanks a lot for the video, it´s great and motivating.
    I´ve just gotten the mebeko recognition and am currently applying for 1st year of residency:)
    Could you give me an idea of an average time frame between getting a positive reply from HR and starting the job if the position is per sofort? For example, if it is complicated to get the work documents from the cantonal authorities, moving in (from Germany) and then starting.

    • @EutopianDoctor
      @EutopianDoctor  11 месяцев назад

      Paperwork is rather quick in Switzerland. So as long as you have your mebeko you could start right away. I myself registered in the city and got a bank and got a helath insurance all during my fist week working.

    It would be interesting to compare the salaries in Switzerland vs in Germany but also taking into consideration taxes and cost of living because some say that when you take into consideration the cost of living, Swiss salary kinda balancies out with the German and so Switzerland isnt that much more worth it over Germany. Whats your opinion?

      Was and still is. Understanding Swiss German is an ongoing problem that takes years to solve. After living in Switzerland for 1 year I can say that its getting "less hard" but its still not "easy"

    Hey I have a question. Is there an amount deducted for pension or only taxes? If so, if someone is from a different european country and they move back there how will they get their pension from switzerland when they retire? In UK for example you can take the whole pension amount out but in some EU countries that doesn't happen.

    • @EutopianDoctor
      @EutopianDoctor  11 месяцев назад

      A simplified Answer would be that you can take some of your pension with you as you leave Switzerland.

    Hello, Doc! Ty for this video:)Please tell me which is the best and most possible of these two options: admission with a diploma from a country that is not part of the EU at all or a diploma from Germany? Will there be any difference at all if I definitely don’t have EU citizenship? There was also a question, can I Is it possible to start a residency in Germany and continue it in Switzerland? And the last point - my ultimate goal is neurosurgery, is it realistic for a foreigner to get a job in this specialty in Switzerland or is it like in the USA - on the verge of the impossible? What is the chance of applying with German citizenship, a German residency in neurosurgery and a German diploma? Thank you!

  • @jgeorge6698

    Thanks for this. Great video. Useful information and you are a natural at presenting man! I understand this is a quite sensitive information but it looks like that swiss may make more money than foreigner doctors. Why is that? Do you reckon is the language barrier? Also, you mentioned you are not fully proficient in swiss, how do you manage the interaction with the other staff in the hospital and the patients?
    My wife is a gynecologist and we are thinking of moving to Luzern. I was told that would be a better destination for us because of the lack of doctors in the region. Also, she's brazilian and speaks very good portuguese and spanish. Do you think that would help her if she wants to work for a private practice later down the track?
    At the moment I am working and she's not. If she intends to work 50% in the hospital and the remaining somewhere else what would be the salary she should aim for in the hospital after 4-5 years in the hospital. Will she ever get a "swiss" salary like her colleagues or do you think the gap will remain forever?
    I appreciate you may not have answers to all my questions but any views/thoughts on this is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

    Hey! Thanks for the video, it was very informing. I got a question, how long does it take to acquire the citizenship in Switzerland as a doctor?

    • @EutopianDoctor
      @EutopianDoctor  11 месяцев назад

      Maybe in details for a different video. Citizenship is something that you can for now forget about. Permanent Residency is a more archievable goal and depending on where you come from it can take from 5 years to many more to have it.

    What actually does it take to be approved in a good residency program? Which curriculum topics are relevants? How many candidates/place are in heart surgery for exemple? How harder is to pass as a foreigner compared to locals?
    I cant find these infos!! 😢😢😢

    Why do you divide the brutto annual income by 13 to get the monthly one? Which country would you say is better to work? Germany or Switzerland (based on salary, benefits, racism- if any-), cost of living, security, etc

    • @ace9848

      a month is 4 weeks -> 28 days

      It depends on the accent, because even Swiss people from different Cantons barely understand each other :D
      Over time its getting easier but I have to admit that as of today I still dont understand much of it.
