    I've heard that aircrete is difficult to get consistency in the mix, sometimes its too brittle, sometimes it collapses in on itself.

It would be amazing to be able to convey all of your concepts to the people in my region in Baja Mexico and enpower them to get off the crap the sistem puts over the families making them to set aside the things that really matter in a society, love , gratitude and self-confidence

      We love Baja and will be building a small home. I will likely have to do it my self because we have found most people in our area are not open to new building concepts. They do it the way they do it...right or wrong, they won't change.

    i bought 5 acres in oklahoma. The land that I bought is super wet. I have a lot of creeks Crossing this property but it's absolutely gorgeous. I would love to build some small structures here and there over the 5 acres. There are so many beautiful sights. But I'm in tornado country so I'm not sure what type of structures I should be building. I am thinking about monolithic domes. What are your thoughts

    • @iqbalhusnoo8070
      @iqbalhusnoo8070 Месяц назад +1

      Hello, I am from a country that usually gets to deal with cyclonic condition. This means similar to a Tornado, it also comes with wind gust ranging 60kmh up to above 250 kmh.
      The safest option from storm wind is concrete building with good Architecture + flat concrete roof.
      Doors & windows can be suggested by the manufacture to resist strong wind gust with additional outdoor hard panels on hinges to closed in case of occurence.
      Hope the best for you.

      Obviously not. This is a classic exchange of knowledge for your labor. I.e. build shit on my property for me and I will give you trade knowledge. Most of what this guy teaches can be found in youtube videos though. If you're healthy and don't mind getting dirty it might be useful to save time from watching and experimenting with hundreds of different approaches. Personally I like learning on my own and failing. The construction quality on these off grid homes don't look very appealing to me either (and I love off grid homes). Maybe I'm wrong though. I'd have to see them in person.

    How does aircrete dome homes fair agaisnt hurricanes? I livee in east Puerto Rico

    • @Flyboyminer
      @Flyboyminer 2 месяца назад

      Hurricanes are a different level of threat on a house. Domes work great against the wind. The weak points will be windows (gonna need some type of hatch to secure over the glass) and drainage (gotta have a place where your water can go during that flooding). Get those 2 things and domes will be just fine imho.

    • @user-sk3zi6mr2w
      @user-sk3zi6mr2w 22 дня назад

      Any dome will do great against Wind. That s the power of geometry. Aircrete dômes have proven their worth AS LONG AS THE CONCRETE IS PROPERLY DONE. Density of foam and load in cement are key factors.

    thanks for another great video, explaining aircrete. can aircrete be used in the tropical Philippines? as the normal construction materials are concrete & hollow-block-bricks.

    • @TinyGiantLifeStyle
      @TinyGiantLifeStyle  Год назад

      It can be used anywhere you want an insulating structure. Blocks with air gaps do not insulate as well because of the size of the air gap allowing air to move freely convecting heat from one side to another. Just compare your options and choose the best fit.

    Minimalism and being debt free is great, but I'm not a fan of aircrete, it's not easy to make, and it's not much cheaper than using more traditional materials. We built a 1,200 square foot house in one year for $60,000. It's passive, and off grid.

    • @johnadams3800

    • @RedandAprilOff-Grid
      @RedandAprilOff-Grid Год назад

      @@johnadams3800 Yes we did and I'm so glad we didn't use it for our house. Exterior insulation is the way to go, our house is heated completely passively from the sun. We built a 2 foot tall base wall out of aircrete around our garden for practice. Aircrete is pretty finicky and wasn't working well with the extreme temperatures we have here in the desert.

    • @johnadams3800
      @johnadams3800 Год назад

      @Red & April Off-Grid did you use drexel or similar foaming agent? How thick was the wall? I'm contemplating making an aircrete home, so curious about others experiences with it. I'm offgrid for 11 years now up here in maine and built my house and system already, conventional stick frame, but now I'm ready to try another style of building with less maintenence really.

    • @tyrenadilley9271
      @tyrenadilley9271 Год назад +7

      @@johnadams3800 I went to his workshop 2 years ago. Highly recommend! Most people think they know how to build with aircrete because of what they see off of the internet, but I have yet to see anyone do it right. The trick is to seal the aircrete in with a cement mortar mix. The wall then becomes hard as rock. Everyone leaves the aircrete exposed and you can break pieces off of it. You have to wrap it with a material (we used a roofing material at the aircrete class) then put a cement mud mixture to cover the material (almost like stuccoing a house)
