Piece of advice, when jumping with your horse dont double jump before you hit... we all do it, but the game registers it as extra fall time sometimes either killing you or causing more damage then if you just fell and landed

This shield doesn't have the parry ability so it doesn't override your weapon ability. This is a good option for a 100% phys. block shield for lighter armor builds.

You can just buy the no skill ability from merchant at Warmaster's Shack, so the whole this shield is good because it doesn't have the parry ability isn't true. Since that ashes of war exists.

@@cab9191 From the description of it: Usable on daggers, curved swords, thrusting swords, fists, claws, and small and medium shields.
The weight of the shield doesn't matter, but the classification. Brass Shield is medium so you can add parry to it.

Thanks for the video. IMO, the brass shield offers more stats, which is farmable, nearly right at the start of the journey. With the Barricade ash on it, it will keep you going for a hot minute.

Nice find. It's almost identical to the beast crested shield found in the camp east of the War Master's Shack but slightly easier to get. The only difference is the elemental resistances. Eclipse is better for lightning - Beast Crest is better for Magic - everything else is really close (like 2 points). If you're okay with trading +6 magic for +5 Lightning, +2Holy, & +1Fire (which I think I am), then it's the better choice - also, I think it looks cooler.

Wrong! This Shield has No Skill. That's good when you want to be able to use your weapon art. It's such a pain starting with a Straight or Broadsword with the excellent weapon art Square Off but unable to freely use it without 2handing.
@@nuckinfutzsf822 I put No Skill on all my shields anyway so I didn't even look.
Kite shield from the Liurnia of the Lakes vendor is better with higher guard boost at 12 STR, Turtle Shield is better then that at 14 STR and Brass Shield will give you even better guard boost but requires 16 STR. It can drop from guards near Stormgate who have it. All better shields if you’re willing to put a couple points into STR, choose a shield that complements your weapons STR requirements if you’re a magic user. (Great Epee, scales well with Faith, 15 STR to hold, one point more for Brass Shield.)

Brass Shield is too heavy for classes with low Endurance.

This is my favorite shield but I forgot where I got it! 100% physical reduction, No Skill allows for weapon arts, light weight, and the coolest crest! Inverted Hawk Crest Shield is similar but I don't like the red even though the hawk is cool. Brass Shield is Great but requires Str to wield, too heavy for most Classes, and also a pain to keep killing the same guy just to hope it drops.

I'll get this one, but I found the Beast Crest Heater Shield already. 100 physical and 50 magic. 43, 32, 42, 44 guard boost.

@Karpo Gaming Not at all unfortunately. All I know is that I was following one of the many "How to get strong fast" videos. They tend to only show the main item available. I search the entire area and I found it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

And the Inverted Hawk Heater Shield is better. 100 physical, 49 magic, 49 Fire, 34 Lightning, 49 Holy, and 44 Guard Boost. The Brass Shield has better stats in general, but the 7 weight wouldn't fit lighter builds
In playing more, there are so many shields and armor sets. So much variation. I found the large fire breathing shield yesterday. That's what I run now.

@@karpogaming its either dragon tooth or dragon claw shield and stats wise its the best offense and defensive shield that ive seen. Its got a shield bash that staggers bosses, does lighning damage and blocks all incoming damage when using the shield bash. Ive watched someone just clap a boss with the shield bash alone... but i think its a 28 or 30 strength req
You can get it from a black knight in this area at the first grace site, but you'll have to rest till night time.

@@karpogaming you can get it buy killing the soldiers at gatefront ruins. You can just farm them for a few minutes. It has magic 55

Haven’t found anything better. Its a great shield early on and later in to the game in my opinion. I will update if I find something better
@@pogtim5411 what makeseven bettet is it has no weapon skill, whitch will allow you to use your weapon skill from the mainhand even when you are one-handing it with the shield in off-hand.
Maybe it’s because I didn’t go the same direction but this shield isn’t the best I’ve gotten early on, I found the Brass shield that does have a weight of 7.0 but the stats are by far better.

Fire 59.0
Lightning 39.0
Holy 54.0
Guard Boost 56
Requirements: Str 16
@@pikisrev by killing solders at gatefront ruins, but you’ll probably have to farm it. I’m not sure if I did that or if I just randomly picked it up but that seems to be the way others are finding it. I found it some time ago so my memory of how I obtained it isn’t great. Hope you get it, it’s helped a lot in the fight with the “Bear witness!” Guy. Lol hate that boss.
@@pikisrev You can get it from the first few soldiers you meet but also drops a bit better from mausoleum guards on the plains a bit southwest of where this shield is.

The very first barracks where you get the whet knife is an easy farm spot for it. It’s a rare drop. Took me 5 or 6 resets of the area.

It doesn't have parry ability so it doesn't override weapon abilities. It's a good all-around shield for lighter armor builds.
@@andrewmarotta7449 Most low level shields don't have a special ability. And if you still want to use your weapon ability, you can use the AoW ("No Skill" in your shield, if it allows you to put ashes in it).
This shield ok to begin with, but I still would prefer the "dragon shield" for early game.
