God I’m so fucking happy people are finally acknowledging how raw John Powell’s works are, I’ve always felt alone when it comes to my love for his music and it’s so so so nice to see him just. Get recognition for how hard he goes with every film he works on (Hoping someone shows off his work for the Ice Age films too, I could kill god with some of his pieces he’s done for the series)
His work in Solo: A Star Wars Story is great too! The opening and "Marauders arrive" specifically comes to mind for me. The movie generally has a very underrated soundtrack
Test drive is probably the best audio experience I've ever had in any movie ever The part when both Hiccup's and Toothless' leitmotifs combine, as they finally learn how to fly in unison INSTANT eargasm
Director : "so it's a story about a tap dancing penguin" John Powell : "aight so Imma make a soundtrack fit for a breath taking epic hero of the gunslinging far west"
Listen I will always, ALWAYS say this, but I swear to god the Happy Feet soundtrack could eat me up, spit me out, then step on me and I would THANK it, that stuff is ingrained in my very BONES
I remember young me was so enthralled by this entire sequence, the chaos of the penguins sliding down and the music building that intensity when you see how their shenanigans led to this GIGANTIC avalanche, I was laughing so hard in the theater my dad had to shush me lol
You should do a transcription of a track from the movie "Paws of fury: the legend of hank" the track is called "Showdown on the Super Bowl" by Bear McCreary. The trumpets and the whole arrangement go pretty hard.
Bro how is it that fire music is used in the dumbest of movies? Like this would sooner fit the likes of the “A Fistful of Dollars” trilogy than happy feet.
What I want to know is, with all these crazy ass trumpet solos he's writing into everything, does he bring his own trumpet player or can most session players pull something like this out of their ass?
Honestly don't get the hype. Trills that sounded like they wished they were shakes, broad orchestral sound with some nice brightness but not the level of bite youd expect for the (attempted) style. Obviously done in two takes (cut around 13 seconds when he drops down to the F#). Harmonically disinteresting, rhythmically meh.
John Powell always comes in clutch with the fire trumpet charts
fr, this one, mountain chase, test drive (obvi)
john powell is so good
There really needs to be a "best of John Powell" video out there
@@alphamoonman it would probably have to be a series it would be too long

Holy fuck yes pleaaase we need some recognition of the fire in the Ice Age scores!!
His work in Solo: A Star Wars Story is great too! The opening and "Marauders arrive" specifically comes to mind for me. The movie generally has a very underrated soundtrack
I've been in love with his stuff since Hancock and Ice Age! The dude can compose so dang well!
There’s a darn good REASON John Powell’s one of my top favorite composers (alongside John Williams and Hans Zimmer)!
You will beg for forgiveness one day for how you speak Gods name. I Agree On John Powell Being an Absolutely Incredible artist though.
The same guy who did the solo on on “Mountain Chase” in Horton Hears A Who, John Powell hits hard for these soundtracks
And httyd I think
yeah, but Mountain chase also has a ridiculous trumpet solo in it@@ethandaniel1424
John Powell is one of my favorite composers. He is an inspiration and gosh dang his music slaps
Always liked that movie, this is a great example of how underrated it's soundtracks were and not just it's songs.
HTTYD is what made me aware of John Powell. He is the GOAT
Test drive is probably the best audio experience I've ever had in any movie ever
The part when both Hiccup's and Toothless' leitmotifs combine, as they finally learn how to fly in unison
INSTANT eargasm
Me and my lil bro running from education and chores:
John Powell is THAT guy.
This awakened a memory I forgot I had
Speaking of John Powell and _Happy Feet_ , the track called "Alien Ships" is one of my favorites in the film.
I love it when trumpet players do solos like this.
that just sent goosebumps down my body
Congrats on 1k subs. You’re making it out of the hood with this one
How did I not remember this, holy shit it's fire
Wow I did not expect a nostalgic ride. So freaking good
Even as a kid, I found that trumpet solo quite interesting.
And the music directly following this solo goes hard AF too
I always remembered this tune oh my god.
Was literally thinking about how you could make a turbo act like a jet turbine on a car while going to bed a couple nights ago. Thanks for the video!
That key signature too 😭😭
this literally gave me the goosebumps
I remember this exact scene being on of my favs as a kid cos of the trumpet
John Powell is a master
...The first part leading up to the Trumpet Solo brought to mind of the drum beat that started off the song, "Thundering Charge" from "The Valley".
I love trumpets.

this movie is underrated as fuck, i loved it as a kid and still love it
Okay time to rewatch Happy Feet again
"He's ruthless. He is dangerous. And as the name implies-"

The trumpets and the whole arrangement go pretty hard.
Adelieland from this show written by John Powell is severely underated, I suggest you all give it a hear
This mf again whit the Trumpet solos
JOHN POWELL THE GOAT
Woah, where did that trumpet come from.
Keep up the great work!
We breakin’ the Thwaites Glacier with this one!
Monster Hunter cutscenes be like
If you do more Powell cues I'll have no choice but to subscribe
POV:movie takes place in Mexico
Ohhh BOBSLED
i can feel the pain of the beginning
This makes me want to learn to play trumpet lol
There's a trumpet solo in one of the songs from the movie Bedazzled that's like this
That reminded me a little of the main theme from “The Mask of Zorro”!
COoL, sound more like E Phrygian to me
Alright, now I want you to make a video about that sick as hell violin and banjo combo in doc hudson racing theme in cars. That cant be slept on
why is cartoon movie music so good
Good evening.
really good! quick question: why not use 2 sharps instead of 5 sharps for this trumpet solo in B minor?
John Powell seems kinda underrated.
It’s always just so funny to hear the most absolute fire soundtracks come out of debatably crappy kids movies
you should do a transcription of the monsters university end credits theme, theres like 3 solos in it
This a whole ass monster hunter theme
Powell is the Goat for a reason
The only composer for films I hold in higher regard is Howard Shore (He did lotr)
Very Morricone - like sound
“Pray for mercy from… _Happy Feet!”_
Those first two spots you have trills written in aren’t actually trills. It’s just his gnarly vibrato lol
If ur looking for more good John Powell, just do the how to train your dragons theme
Is this mariachi? It sure sound Latino, the power and outright defiance of odds comes through clear as the trumpet's peals themselves.
Why five sharps when it's in b minor?
Sounds like the boss music in a Mexican cartel game
Who composes this hard to motherfucking happy feet
John Powell (this) and many more
hear me out, this and helldivers 2
Just wait till they discover DCI
Sounds like Rango
When you find out you’re 1% Mexican:
Wouldv’e enjoyed a shake more than a trill.
Sounds like something from Puss in Boots
*A random guy spawns in Mexico…*
My cousin voiced the main character of this film
I call and raise the bet:
Brandenburg Concerto No.2, Movement No.3 Allegro assai...
False sorry the most fearless trumpet solo is actually Miles Davis on My Funny Valentine live
Bro how is it that fire music is used in the dumbest of movies? Like this would sooner fit the likes of the “A Fistful of Dollars” trilogy than happy feet.
Dumbest of movies???
@@thesejokesarentfunnyyetthe9522 Happy Feet always felt dumb to me as a concept. Even as a child I thought this was strange for a kids movie
Rocket jump waltz:

How is it that the worst animated movies always get the best scores? It happened with the secret life of pets, the boss baby, despicable me 2... Why?
IM SCARED OF TRUMPETS HELP
Anyone else feels Spanish now?
What the HECK was that solo?!
its a 5 note solo...
jokes on you i cant hear it because my phone is bluetooth only and i forgot my headphones and i dont like using my speaker
What I want to know is, with all these crazy ass trumpet solos he's writing into everything, does he bring his own trumpet player or can most session players pull something like this out of their ass?
Sounds like old music from Mexican culture.
El de Gankplank Galleon es Mejor
Sounds spanish imo ngl
How had I missed the giant crap all these years

That is not the most fearless trumpet solo I have ever heard.
Meh...
I’ve heard better
