I think Ann's whole arc was to search for the meaning of the Borderlands. She was looking for hope in her fight to survive. Since evidence is important to her, it makes sense that she had that whole physical journey search for meaning. And she eventually found her drive and hope, eventually returning to fight in the games.
As for the King of Spades, yes he was speaking to his friend. But one could argue that he was also talking to the people he killed and tried to kill in the games. His whole thing was "killing by mercy". He believed that killing the players was an act of mercy as an alternative to living in this world where they will suffer. He believed death was the better alternative. This is contrasted by Niragi at the beginning of the episode, who does the opposite when he meets with the man who failed his suicide attempt, by leaving him to suffer.
for me, i thought that ann;s journey lead her to believe that there was no way out of the borderlands since all she saw were mountains outside of japan, so she didnt find her drive. im not sure if youve watched the last episode yet so i wont explain anymore to avoid spoilers haha
@XxItsYourBoyChienxX i did watch until the end. Watched the show twice. I would argue that Ann did find her drive. In episode 6, she sees the dead animal, while flashing back to her former life. In that flashback, Ann saw that the dead girl knew she was gonna die, but she fought until the very end, without losing hope. Ann then explicitly says that "there is still hope here". I think what she meant was that yes there is no escaping this place the way she thought, but that in fighting to complete these games, there was hope in a life outside this place and in going back to their world. This is why she resolved going back to play games. She wanted to fight until the end because her drive was the hope. Even if she didnt quite know for sure if she could leave the place. There was hope. And she held onto that. I also think that this is why Ann was able to return to her world even if she "died" in Borderland in ep 7. Because of her strong will to live.
The fighting choreography was literally next level TV. I don’t know if I’ve really ever seen such a strong, amazing fight scene before. Not so physical like this one.

@@budoshi1981 I personally think these big throws in the air and other unrealistic details participate to the idea that this world is not the real world and is governed by other laws.
Bulletproof vests and plates are heavy af and restrict your movement. He also got shot several times. That's why he removed it. So he can move better and dodge faster in close quarters.
Just about to say this to all the reactors who seems confused when he took of the vest lol
Not to mention every consecutive hit is not additive, but multiplicative, when it comes to wearing down that armor.
If the Kevlar breaks, which they do after multiple impacts, it will not disperse bullet impacts.

what the king of spades says at the end it's actually sad. in the war people asked to be killed with a gun to avoid the agony of a slow death. so by saying "I'm sorry, that was the only way I knew to save you" means that killing people as a king was the only way he knew to help the players from playing more games and saving them of the suffer of betting their lives on it
This episode was insane the whole fight between the group and the king of spades was crazy I really want to know if chishiya is gonna be alive now considering he’s a doctor can’t wait for that finale episode
He is alive. He, usagi, arisu, Ann , kunia, aguni and bow lady survived at the end.

@@hrjs1gf also, the reason the people got in borderland is the meteorite. Their heart stopped for a minute. The entire 2 season lasted one real life minute. The kid is alive on the end. There is joker face card. Ann survive

So apparently, in the manga, the rivalry between Niragi and Chishiya is played up a lot more. Niragi makes the plan that Arisu came up with in the first game of this season. He's a genius of sorts in the manga. And Chishiya stated that he burned him because he felt they were similar. Which is why this episode culminated in them getting into a battle. Also in the manga, the group is a lot more reluctant to forgive Chishiya after he attempts to leave them to the wolves and bounce back at the beach. The show makes it seem like they're all cool after that incident, so it's definitely a bit more confusing when Chishiya accuses Arisu of hating him because their relationship is still pretty positive in the show.
Aside from that, this episode hits so hard. We've seen these characters go through games and slowly become accustomed to them or witnessed their struggles. To the point where they've learned to adapt and overcome. But then the King Of Spades comes along and slowly manages to overcome each and every one of them. That struggle for survival, the desire to protect their friends but also the desire to live is so raw. Especially when we see that a lot of them considered their former lives to be undesirable and even wondered if it was worth it to escape. But they all found their own reasons to want to leave. Their own things they wanted to protect. Right when they've all decided to live, they get pushed to the brink in this seemingly impossible situation. And THAT, is powerful.
Chishiya was also much more cruel in the manga. Even kuina hated hum, even tho she cares for Hi in the show. I'm kinda glad they changed it
Definitely sounds like I prefer the show. Because even in this show's audience we have people swinging on Niragi's balls. I can't imagine if they actually made an effort to make him relatable. Fuck that guy.
Yeah literally both their talents are diamonds! I'm sad they made it seem like Arisu's is too even though it's supposed to be hearts.
It’s the Queen of Hearts garden where Alice meets her in Wonderland for a game of croquet, where in the original story, the Queen keeps playing with Alice so she forgets time. Basically, the garden is the literal endgame.
17:51 Tao Tsuchiya, the actress playing Usagi, actually did all her stunts herself like the jump scene from the 1st game and the fight scenes with the Queen of Spades. I think a lot of the cast did stunts themselves too. They are all very talented.

At first i was also wondering why Heiya was still alive at the end.. but when you think of it, she probably had the strongest will to live among the characters (she even mentioned that she would never take her own life and that she would live for her future self) and probably had the roughest experience in borderland.
She almost died during the boiling death game, her leg was pierced with metal, crawled all the way out and jumped off from a mini cliff, swam with a broken leg, crawled all the way to a hospital, sacrificed herself to the doctor so her leg would get treated. got shot multiple times with a rifle on point blank range (even hold on to the tip of the rifle xD) yet was still able to crawl to Aguni's arms..lol
i think Heiya is an example of the concept of borderland where people can live if they had a strong will to live..or maybe because they were not even in critical condition after the disaster.
At the end, Heiya was on a quite good condition on a wheelchair minus one leg. Maybe, another maybe, is that Heiya had a taste of hell in borderland since she was kinda shitty in real life.. lol..
she even mentioned being a shitty person while crawling in the air vent. xD.. but not gonna judge her much since she also had a rough background based on her past and also some more info from the manga.
so yeah, im actually glad that she's alive, she's one of my favorites.^^,

Basically, the king of spades saw his game as a mercy killing to "save" everyone from suffering in borderland - apparently, he even buried everyone's corpses in the manga
Kuina getting stab was the breaking point for me.😭💔💔💔
Fun fact: In the manga Chishiya won the Jack of Diamonds game instead of Jack of Hearts!
Also it was Aguni, Hiya, and a junior high school boy that was suppose to beat the King of Spades!

They were also fighting the king on top of Vehicles since the city flooded lol and aguni wanting to win to save the kid since he got 1 day left in his visa.
Yep the king of spades in the manga is better for me for aguni development and he is insanely good there. They really make ma boi doudou dissapear
@@brilyandp8682 the king of spades was also more tactical in the manga and had more text. He was really respectful. But they had to cut something out. But I won't understand why they rather cut out a main antagonist like the King of Spades and add a whole filler game like the Queen of Spades. They easily had the sreentime for him. I'm really interested why they choose to do so.

The cinematography and action scenes in this serie is the best I’ve seen in awhile
Ann and Kuina didnt just get extra screen times, they got hella plot armor too! As they should! Lol i got mad when they made them background characters after the beach arc.

22:04 KoS figured out the group was luring him into CQC inside the tight alley so he shed the armor to be more effective.
The original plan was for them to be decoys but it turned into an attempted ambush (that failed epically), but it’s so so well choreographed. They’re all so badass. The finale is epic, I can’t wait for the reaction ❤️🩹

With regards to the vest, it looks kevlar rather than plated, and when a kevlar vest gets shot once, let alone a bunch of times, it becomes significantly less useful at stopping bullets. Still definitely a lot more useful than not having one at all, but what he took off was definitely not a fully functional vest. I guess he thought the fucked up vest providing much less protection that was also minimising his movement and dexerity wasn't worth it. And even at full strength it also would've massively struggled with bullets any bigger than standard pistol bullets, so Arisu's gun could've done a number on him even if he hit the vest.

I just finished this episode and am still ugly crying. Literally was sobbing the entire fight. Came here to watch y'all's reaction and the Arisu febreeze comment was hilarious.
THIS EPISODE SHOCKED ME UP LIKE SO BAD WHEN I FIRST SEE IT but tbh its my favorite, the fight escenes are incredible and i cried a lot when the king beated down kuina and ann, and i cried too when chishiya got shotted (kuina and him are my favorite characters since season one), this season is freaking amazing and in my opinion so much better than the first one, I love ur reactions and i can't wait for you guys react to the finale episode, it is absolutely amazing and it's gonna blow ur minds istg

well he didnt know what was going on, isnt it? personally i was not mad at arisu, but whoever edited this episode. like why would they put that scene of arisu spraying right in the middle of the ladies fighting?? i was so mad. they really did him dirty this season.

I know he is smarter than them, but it makes me very sad to see how many people are hating on him for this...
most of what Niragi said was absolutely true, Chishiya and Arisu are just as selfish as him, they just revel in it less. The only real difference between the three of them is that Arisu has shown the ability to change, but he sure has a shitty grasp on relevancy with that seven billion comment lol
Don't see why you wouldn't shed gear in the King of Spades' situation, a giant cloak is useful for fire and stealth, but limits your sight and movement by a lot. Same reason to drop the mask, and same reason to drop the vest only after getting up close, especially since he had no reason to fear our squad at the time. Vest is a little reckless, but from his point of view absolutely an improvement in a point-blank fight.
It's always good to remind yourself that this show is literally a live-action anime. Pretty much every aspect of it has been like that from the start too. So it's pretty natural that everyone is stronger and faster and can take much more punishment than a normal human before dying. It feels very unnecessarily cynical to do something like for example call it plot armor when every single named character has been within the same range of it since the show started.
Even the horsehead taggers from season 1 episode 2 could take a fire extinguisher to the face, several stab wounds and a dropkick without slowing down much. Usagi outran a high-pressure tidal wave for far longer than any normal human should be able to. Kuina walked off smearing her feet across a floor covered in glass shards. Aguni killed a tiger with a single punch. I could keep going, and that's just for season 1.

Is everything in this episode consistent with the genre, source material, and how the characters have been portrayed for the past 15 episodes? absolutely lol
You don't really need any more flashback or other context for the King of Spades than we got to realize that he felt he was mercykilling everyone with his game, and that he grew into that mindset because he was forced to kill his friend in war, just like with Aguni and Hatter in season 1. That's why his final words with Aguni are so good, bc what both of them say apply to both of their situations. "That was the only way i knew how to save you" is both the King talking about his game, the King talking about having to shoot his soldier friend, and also Hatter's feelings towards Aguni. Aguni answers "I never held it against you" because of all of those three things, which is what finally gives both Aguni and the King peace.

What the King of Spades said at the end is actually really sad. It felt like he was not only apologising to his friend but to all the people he killed..i feel like he felt that putting them out of their misery as players of the Bordeland was better than them keeping on playing the games and actually ending up in this world forever like he and the other face cards did. If you think about it all the face cards kings and queens were happy with them loosing the games like every one of them smiled at the end when they were about to be killed by the beam.

The blimp has no access in the stiff alleyway. That's why the KoP removed his vest, for agile combat since vest is heavy and getting ganged by a team with a heavy vest is a no. The KoP is utilizing every resources he has left to fight the group.

But guys😭 ofc the last game HAS TO BE against the queen of hearts and HAS TO BE croquet like???? the series is called "Alice in Borderland", the main character is called Alice, the main antagonist is the Queen of Hearts, and then you have characters with names as Usagi (so "bunny"... like, the white bunny? yeah), (a crazy) Hatter and Chishiya (which sounds so similar to Chesire, the cat). With all this references to Alice in Wonderland there's not option but this. To be honest, I was expecting a flamingos (at least fake) to play with and a damn red dress for Mina, as the fairytale

I loved the last episode but it's mixed, some people didn't like it at all others loved it.
i hate how everyone is blaming arisu when in fact what happened to the girls could have happened to him as well and vice versa. Like what? Imagine if Aguni or Ann was the one spraying cans, and Arisu fighted the KoS and ended up like the girls, then would yall hate on them too? Don't think so. The one yall should be hating is the king of spades. he's just too strong for anyone, and none of this is arisu's fault. Just saying.

Niragi is so annoying to me, I don't see the point in his character for this season at all. Like I don't even like him as a villain, but this is also just my opinion and how I feel.
He did help the group to get some points In the first game. And that was pretty much it. The rest he was just being annoy.
Why does he do this? Why does he want to? Why would he choose to make this game. The mans dead inside. Reminds you of a certain hotel heart game person? Hint: Bald.
