How well sealed are these units? In some flooded areas of mines, can these units be safely walked through water? For ships, can they be used in 10fsw safely for short excursions or will they flood?
Im not an expert, but have used these many, many times. I have taken them apart and reassembled. The weak point in my opinion is the grey box on the size of the unit. it has a sintered brass filter on the bottom side (left side in the video), visible just above the curved yellow hose- a silver cylindrical component. It measures atmospheric pressure and is directly attached to the switch box (grey box). The grey switch box has the brains and electronics of the unit within it. I think the switchbox is not water tight enough to walk through chest deep water. That being said, if the switch box failed due to water, the unit would continue to function, you would lose data about how much O2 you have left, which is important.
