Fuck PSA for charging you more for an expensive card, and upcharging you. its a money grab. who says what value the card has? They invent it.
It's for insurance purposes
I like SGC much better and the label looks better than the red eye sore from psa
@@hieinhUSPS Registered mail with $10k of insurance is like $50. PSA will charge you $500 for a card they value at $5k-10k for “insurance”
PSA sucks
@@jbkilluh Guess you haven't submitted before. It shows the ranged. Up to $999 is one tier for insurance and that's $35 for psa to ship back to you
The National Realtor Association just lost a multi billion dollar lawsuit for similar business practices. It’s just a matter of time before someone sues PSA
Sure wish they would hurry and put them out of business.
We should join up and sue them
I hope so.
PSA has had several lawsuits against them
PSA got too powerful. They can dictate the cost of grading without impunity. Collectors just accept them as the holy grail of grading. Time to start a new grading service for the normal collectors. The Elitist's have ruined collecting.
Automating the cards? So when the robot bends my perfect card or scratches it, you'll send it back to me as a grade of 3?
So the workers at PSA will be doing less work but gonna charge more…sounds about right…
you would think increasing efficiency within the company would lead to savings for the consumer. Shows exactly their motivations.
@@oColt45oit's always been their motivation. I just wish people like SCI and a few others would stop promoting them.
On their defence though, the cost of investing in these machines are significant. This is why they need to charge more now. In turn, as the Customer, you get your cards back quicker. Other companies, will follow suit down the road. However, I don’t agree with all the new terms and conditions.
@@olive_7 I mean the machines will pay for themselves with the amount of cards being graded
@@olive_7 Did they not save any of their profits from the last two decades to purchase these "new machines" that we don't even know exist. Or is it purely financed by debt, to buy these unknown "machines," that they are passing onto their customers?
Evev in the "investment" scenario it doesn't make sense to make your customer pay for your debt while you become more efficient in the service provided. It makes more sense to provide your customers with a better experience at a cheaper cost or the same rate.
Isn't the excuse of automation to "cut costs," replace hourly workers with a one time fixed cost (with maintenance)? If you're cutting costs, making the process more efficient, and removing workers from the payroll, why are you charging people more money? Not even more money, an UNKNOWN amount of money. Its absolutely absurd.
How about psa send us back our rigid holders that WE bought
Yep, thieves. Already stealing our money through unnecessary upcharges
I asked for mine back from sgc years ago and offered to buy others but they couldn’t understand why i would want them back
@@theheadyman yar, they stole my expensive oversized top loaders
lol damn so true.
They cut the ridge holders to get your card out without damaging the card
What about for thicker cards and don’t fit into a card saver ?
There are semi-rigids that are softer for thicker cards
PSA expects you to jam them into a card saver & ruin your corners. Because they're sadistic.
@@deep3reviewswhich brand is best for this?
No way a 120point card stock thickness card can fit into any semi rigid. Rather send it in toploader and take the $2.00 fee that’s charged.
@@Bostonian33exactly. ill be god damned before i put a thick card in a card saver. they can suck my balls. im sending out 25 this week with one touches and pull tabs. f them.
Up charges are ridiculous. Just because of the value of the card… so what… sounds like PSA is charging for higher grades.. pay to play
In my opinion they are taking a percentage of the value of your card, there as bad as the government, and just as greedy and don't care if they ruin the hobby which they are doing!
It's for insurance
Save your receipts. There will eventually be a class action lawsuit.
@@hieinh Bollocks
When will people pull their heads from their butts and say fuck PSA.
Prreeaaccchhh!!!
When other slabs value higher than PSA slabs.
@@HarriTheBear it's stupid humans that made it the way it is perhaps smarter humans can make it different.
@@Marc-w4o I've been saying this since 2013. They've got much worse. Was better when Joe Orlando was in charge. Nat Turner doesn't care about the customers. He just wants to get as much money as possible out of us.

EAT A BAG OF RICHARDS!!!!
Can someone define what they’re trying to ban with cleaning? Can I not wipe a fingerprint off?
I'm 100% still wiping down my cards. Just can't use a product to clean them.
Using a microfiber to clean smudges, finger prints, chromium foil residues etc has always been acceptable. Using a foreign chemical, baths/dips, or bleach baths to lighten or bleach a card should have never been allowed to begin with imo. Or if it is, it should be denoted with a RESTORED designation on the label. That will cut down on a majority of submissions like that
It's fine to use microfiber cloth.. Geoff did a interview with the owner of PSA about 6 months ago and he answers all the questions you may have about cleaning and what they are looking for.. PSA owner says that the graders have microfiber cloths that they actually use to make sure they don't lrave any smudges or prints on your cards
Time to buy vintage and Send my card's to SCG
I agree with you SCG is the best!!
Yeah, except SGC is now owned by PSA so you are still supporting them by using SGC. I used to like SGC but now I will stay away from them because of this.
@@iamrickrock SGC is owned by collectors not PSA.
PSA is not the main company. Collectors Holding owns PSA & SGC they’re still operating differently
@iamrickrock nah sgc is still good. Sure psa owns them but they are in Florida vs California. Two different worlds
You should be able to send a card in for grading in anything that makes you feel its secure.
Welp, never using PSA ever again. The greed is real!
You should grade your high value cards with Arena Club!!! So I can get my cards back little bit faster from PSA.
Nothing has changed
@@hieinh Auto upcharge and charged for improper packing in a top loader? Sounds ridiculous to me.
@@RobbingRips No it doesn’t. Submit the way you are supposed to. Don’t cut corners
@@hieinh Alright bud. We're talking about a piece of cardboard lol.
PSA is only getting more expensive! And will never be at $10 per card!
Just buy them graded. Saves hassle.
I’ve never paid under $24 per card after fees and taxes!!! Probably more like $27
@@Phelps_Jason Crazy. Most graded cards are worth under $27 these days
EVERYTHING costs more! It's called inflation. I'd be more worried about paying for what we pay for groceries than complaining about this
@@Scottie4twentythis has nothing to do with inflation. It never has.
BGS is starting to sound better and better.
@@ScottFoote-ro3mu That’s where my cards are going, and I’ll price them in line with PSA. I don’t need to sell then.
Higher quality slabs with UV protection, they sleeve cards in the slab, and are knocked off less. If you care about the card in the slab and not the resell value BGS is the way to go.
I love SgC
i use SGC...15 dollars, 10 days, i have cards in hand, graded and look great.
@@ScottFoote-ro3mu BGS give you more realistic grades. I've never had a damaged card back from BGS after submitting about 450 over the past 11 years. PSA damaged six of my cards from my last submission and ignored my emails.
I've been so done with psa for over a year now. GREED and incompetence. I hope they don't drive up existing cards out there.
They're a joke company. They damage your cards and give you unfair grades and then attempt to steal more of your money
SGC is awesome imo
Go grade with CGC, great slabs, affordable and fast turnaround without the hidden fees and other rubbish!!!
Yea except there’s no value for a CGC 10.
@@SpidaCardsyes there is depending on the player.. Also PSA will fall and lose customers.. which will help other grading companies and collectors that don't grade with PSA value Rise, i have a feeling PSA Will fall that's my opinion!!
BGS and CSG are the way forward. Waiting for CSG to introduce an oversized slab
@@smbmostfamous1432PSA will be out of business soon
@@SpidaCards well thats up to YOU. If you pay PSA 10 prices for CGC 10s, you should expect to sell your CGC 10s for psa prices. Until WE stop paying the premium for PSA, we will remain at their mercy.
Once this shift happens, and it will (remember Beckett anyone??), PSA will go back to being the also ran they always were.
Just more reason to grade elsewhere.
Nothing has changed
Lol watching psa fan boys trying to protect this snake oil
these guys can easily afford upcharges without their consent to be up charged. out of the blue $500 up charge, no biggy. yeah right!!!
Yep. These influencers are the only ones happy with this because they’re the ones getting 10’s (under the table payment scheme)
@@CaptShriver You know $500 is the Walkthrough service level for cards valued between $5k-$10k, right? Very rarely are these expensive cards pulled by the average collector. This upcharge thing is a non-issue for the majority of people grading cards.
I would never ever grade with PSA, it’s a grading company for flippers. I’m a collector. Plenty of other grading companies, I would use if I was to grade a card.
Just put your cards in top loaders and attach a sticker with a grade on it
I think that's what they are trying to do here is move those flippers to SGC
I went with BGS for the first time and it was a great experience.
If PSA are going to upcharge us automatically, are they going to update the Auction Prices Realized section on their website? To me, it's just attempted robbery based on 2021 prices
The Wemby boxes sound amazing, but there’s going to come a point when you gotta start to think about the issue of oversaturating the market with his cards.
That's their plan, why you think all these vintage players keep popping up in all these modern packs...to de value the old cards...they don't want nobody making money but who "they" say and that BS has to change.!
" these up charges are usually a good thing " wild statement
if you own a business or your wealthy then fine up charges no biggy but i wont use psa when i start getting my cards graded
I think that he meant an upcharge means a good grade on a big card. I get where you're coming from though.
What do you expect from Geeeeoooooffffff Azz kizzzER!
So PSA.....You can't clean cards ...BUT WE CAN!
WELL IF YOU WOULD MAKE THESE CHANGES TPOT AND GEEEOOOFFFF.......EXPLAINS the BASKIN ROBBINS FIASCO.
In their minds, PSA thinks that they’re too big to fail.. I wish people would stop sending their cards to PSA to teach them lesson.
Bingo !
Yes 100%
i just wont use PSA however im sure the other grading companies will follow suit
If they're smart, they won't follow PSA.
...or they won't follow suit and increase their market share!
Bwahahahahahahaha.......what Phahaqwing Bull SHEEET! Absolute USERY!
No they won’t
I don't think the other companies will do this. I think this is their opportunity to overtake PSA and increase their business values without compromising their company
Come on collectors.... Let's give CSG a break and give them a boost. Their new slabs are far superior to PSA's and they have none of the rip-off up-charges.
Do they authenticate signatures?
*CGC no longer called CSG
@tothetop-omaid yes they have partnered with JSA to authenticate
I liked the original green label with sub grades from CSG. If they can’t offer me a better service, I’d rather stick with PSA, because they’ll sell.
I’ve never had a problem sending in my orders with semi-rigid holders. 🤷♂️
Regardless of who u prefer, PSA's cards are just worth more
What happens when the semi rigid card machine damages your cards?
Deny deny deny, that's what will happen.
...you'll pay the fee because it wasn't properly packaged, and maybe damages because machine was slowed down...:P
@@ScottFoote-ro3mu they cut around the sides of the card to get it out.
Upcharging always has and will continue to be ridiculous. A service is a service. It is like gas stations charging you more if you pull up in a Corvette, Ferrari, etc. Also, will PSA give partial refunds when their ‘deemed’ value of the card goes down 80-90% one year from now?
People are crazy to continue to give psa their money..
Raw cards are the way to go
Upcharges are fine for wealthy people. However upcharges up to $500 if you have a limited amt. of income to invest in getting your cards graded.

@@mrunlimited3 Geeeooooofffff just greeeeezing up the azzez of the cult so PSA can provide his cards more Minty Gem 10's.
What are you supposed to do with thick cards? How do you put those safely into a card saver without damaging the corners
You can still use top loaders for those. I had to look as well to double check.
No way I'm sending thicker flawless or NT cards in card savers and risking corners get beat to heck.
Have no issues with mine lol... I consistently get 9s and 10s... only had 1 8.5 and it was a die cut from crown royale.
EDIT: actually I have had a 8 on a ausar thompson on card auto from optic... but my thick obsidian, flawless, NT, impeccable haven't had any issues yet.
I don't send anything in that I think will grade less than 9.
Goodbye PSA!
The Topps Mercury is a Cheat Set. Guaranteeing not 1, but 2 Wembanyama autographs in a box is actually a negative for the value of the cards on the secondary market. It's the cards that are much more difficult to hit in regular releases in hobby and retail that will yield better values in the future because they are more accessible to more collectors. More people have a chance at pulling something in the broader market. Topps has tried this in Star Wars with "Stellar Signatures". It came as a case with a set of every signer. The common card was numbered out of 40 or something while there were 4 different color variations of 1 of 1 cards for each signer. There was a random assortment of numbered autograph cards in each case/set. Those cards continue to carry a premium on the secondary market. However, autographs of the same signers from Masterwork can sell for considerably more based on the difficulty of hitting those autographed cards.
21:53 I’m a Topps stan for decades now but totally agree on this practice and it diluting the Topps Now brand
The fact they up charge for grading a valuable card clearly shows bias towards grading potentially pricey cards higher. Real shame PSA has basically become the standard for grading to maximize value.
You endorsed ISA grading.
Why don't you use them?
Well being new to getting cards graded..this helped make up my mind which company to send my cards to..SGC all the way for me now..thank you!! ✌🏻
No clue why it would matter if you clean your card…smh, it’s ridiculous…I clean every card I send! It’s almost malpractice not to! Who tf wants a potential chance at a lower grade 🤬
Yeah, you've gotta get the shit off.
@@DanielCordone9 I mean obviously if you’re leaving swirl marks…I use Kurt’s, never had anyyy card sent back
@@stan8252I use that and recently keep getting lines with the liquid solution.. not sure if it’s bad cotton balls or what
I just use a microfiber cloth, no solution, no water, no chemicals. Put medical gloves on and wipe the card
They are talking about people who use product like car polish and heavy waxes to fill in scratches and dents. PSA doesn't care if you wipe your cards down to get the smudges, Prints, and fuzz from the edges off
I still don’t understand why does the value of a card determine how much the fee is! It gets graded the same way.
Totally agree. They get paid for a service .. not what the card is worth after it's inspection.
Was thinking of sending my cards to them . Taken me couple of months to segregate them. Will be submitting my business to a different company.
Beckett got my cards Love and when I get BLACK LABELS BGS 10 there no higher grade out there!
Thank you Geoff for this informative video and letting us know. I'm glad that you do the pull tabs because I've been doing that myself. PSA just lost me as a customer
It's a step in the right direction on improving logistics within the company, but they really need to focus on training the employees and hiring people that know what they're doing. There's too many inconsistencies with grading and how they fit cards in slabs now. It just seems like they're just slapping a random number on the majority of cards and the cards just bouncing around in the slab from so much empty space around the card is such an eye sore. Show more professionalism and care into slabbing up these cards instead of just pump and dumping out orders.

@@garygordon3075I know bro
Stop grading and then they would have to lower prices
He sold out the moment they started working with Geoff. All these influencers love Topps Mercury. It is just a shitty almost replica of Exquisite. Upper Deck did it better way back.
1. The fact you had PSA president on your show and you're defending PSA now is not a coincidence
2. Gee let me send my 180 PT thick card in a freaking 10 PT card saver that's smart
3. PSA has turned around your card in less than 2 days yay! Except it's damaged from thier automated machinery. Are you kidding? PSA loves charging high for quicker turnarounds it's part of thier business sales model. They do not have any incentive to turn around cards faster for the $20 we pay on each one. They're only willing to do so when you pay that $200 premium for that time you save.
What’s the deal? After grading if PSA thinks it’s a valuable card they charge more?
Notice how they deliberately haven't been updating the 'Auction Prices Realized' section, so they can upcharge based on 2021 sales.
Yep
😂😂
Bro speaking factssss
When they send the upcharge email you can send them comps of recent sales to show they shouldn’t be upcharged and they normally agree and update the total charge
Spoken like a person who has never been upcharged.
Geoff get me a box since it’s not that expensive
PSA is the reason why this "hobby" is the way that it is.
psa will never be able to determine if a card is been cleaned as long as you wipe it down properly after applying the wax or spray. And as for the "legal" action its all bs. Maybe be consistent with your grading and we wouldnt have to worry about cleaning our cards.
Good thing I prefer BGS
The auto charge for the up charge isn’t right…..I need to know before extra money such as an up charge is pulled out of my account. This is going to cause issues not for psa, but for the customer.
Did he really say under priced..wtf is wrong with him ,f the little guy in the hobby
Agree. I'm 71 and just started to get back into collecting cards 2 months ago. Was going to send some cards into PSA then I watch this video and PSA is pricing out the average collector. The fact that none of these 3 guys had an objection that PSA will automatically take money from your credit card without getting your approval if THEY determine it's worth is higher is mind boggling and quite sad. Because they couldn't give a rats ass about the average collector. I would question if this practice is legal. I guess they have this in their TOS so that would cover the legality of this practice.
What you said. To say that 8000.00 is under priced for 6 cards is not living in reality. Sure millionaires can afford that but the average collector can't. I think now is the time for an Entrepreneur to start a new grading service more affordable to the collector.
Psa shouldn't get more money because your card graded a 10 instead of a 9, that gives psa bad incentives
You don't it's for insurance purposes.
@@InternetMunchies Yep and most of the time, PSA 10's are dropping down in price to 9 rates.

I was heavy into card collecting in the early to mid 2000s and have some on card autos that I have zero idea how to value. Is there any good source to find how much on card signatures go for to accurately value my card before sending to psa?
Wemby might be amazing, but there's no way these prices hold up long term. Someone is going to be left holding the bag when the dust settles, and it's going to hurt badly.
There is no bigger scam in collecting than grading fees, especially with PSA.
So what do I do for thick cards that don’t font in semi rigid holders??
I was asked to pay an upcharge fee that was double the range of market price for the card. I had to negotiate with the Value Specialist Rep to bring the upcharge back down to reality (my card has never sold for more than $1,200, and market about $900; but they said it was worth more than $2,500)
I’ve never understood the upcharge for a card that’s more valuable. Grading a common takes the same work as grading a T206 Wagner
This entire video is what is wrong with collecting cards today.
Bs..... waiting on my last order from them then I guess. 2 gretzky autos will be my final submission

They 100% have started adding fees to your grading if they have a card that goes to a higher price tier.
They always have done that
Beckett > PSA…… Better slab and no BS up charges. Collectors are dumb for making PSA more valuable. There’s a reason Beckett was king before.
I think I’m switching to SGC. I don’t like the auto payment for up charges. Doesn’t give you a chance to dispute it
“Up-charging” is legalized thievery. Consumer has to choose a card value and submit. If PSA determines that’s off, the player gets hotter, etc. - PSA can charge you more money. Complete crap. Has a player hold out feeling, also complete crap.
I think Topps knows there will be suckers that will buy any product they produce.
OMG 8K is to cheap?????? WTF Its fine if you have a million dollar collection GEOFF and a store to sell over priced cards to kids and put massive bounties on cards you won't even chase/break yourself. Breakers as well will pay this + more. Hobby is pricing out the average guy who works 60 hours a week just to pay the mortgage and put food on the table. Last time ill be clicking on a SCI video....................GREED is killing this hobby
He is obviously saying the price is cheap in comparison to what similar cards are currently selling for on the market. He is not saying $8,000 is nothing. Take a chill pill

I hate putting thick cards in Rigid holders they are so tight they could damage the corners forcing it in.
Personally I disagree with up charges but the bottom line is that decision should be the card owners not PSAs.
Hey Geoff if taking cards out of holders is too time-consuming for PSA perhaps they shouldn't be in the grading card business, what an effing joke.
They are just like the government, you do all the work and they think they deserve a cut!
Why is PSA waging war on their customers? We are paying them, yet they act like we are a nuisance.
Control.
What will the expectation around thick cars and one touches? Card savers will screw up the edges on thick cards.
The only fallacy about the Steakhouse/up charge example is that the collector is sending in his card for grading that may have been owned for 30-49 years. The steak and the sides are owned by the restaurant until purchased. The restaurant had to purchase the steak & sides, and can charge whatever they like etc, etc. The grading company didn’t do a single thing over the last 30 years to help with my collection, sort, protect, etc, yet the grading company get a piece of the value of my collection, period. I have an extensive 30-40 year old collection of MJ, Emmitt, Bird, Tiger Wood, premium rookies out the wahoo. etc. But to get an up charge based on the value of a card just seems unfair. A flat fee for the grade of a card, understood, but not the value. Again, am I missing something. Thanks for any clarification.
I am feeling less and less confident in PSA these days. I have seen many people getting back cards from them with damage, folds, scratches, etc., on them that we not there when they sent them. Once or twice, yikes, but ok. But it has been happening a lot. Also, pretty sketchy grading of otherwise immaculate cards. I understand that they know what they are looking for, but a brand new, pulled card getting a 6.5 or 7 when it is clearly in 9 territory, makes one wonder what card they were looking at. Perhaps they are just getting too big in the pants and their investors, like so many other popular and profitable organizations today, demand returns without knowing anything about the business they bought into. This has that written all over it.
I've had cards come back looking worse or the plastic inside the holder is creased and PSA wouldn't do anything or even follow up with me.
@@izzosbluelightproductions Same here. They damaged and creased 6 of my cards and ignored my emails
I do think PSA have the ability to track the first holder who submit it otherwise they wouldn’t have put that in the term.
Do people use card savers for thick cards?
Qucik Question - What is wrong with pull tabs? I only use card savers and add the litte tabs on cards I intend to grade.
Because they don't actually pull your cards out. We don't get the card savers back because they cut them to get the card out. Tabs are generally placed at the center of the penny sleeve. if you actually pull it, it creates a cinch like a garbage bag dies and pulls the corners in and is more likely to damage your card. The sticky back could also snag your card when trying to remove it. Also it's more trash.
PSA shouldn’t be up charging people simply because a card’s value is high. PSA thinks they are invincible. If people started a boycott against them, they would stop robbing people.
Wemby autos will become watered down with that product.
In my mind that’s greed because they now know x card is worth thousands instead of hundred so why not figure out a way to nickel dime customers
@@jbarres80 it also comes down to the buyers not putting a higher value on PSA graded cards over SGC and others.
