Are you using EQ or is that flat?
If it is flat, then the mic has a highend boost at about 3 - 4kHz compared to the original.
Not bad though.
I might buy one and modify it :).

KingKorg over at GroupDIY posted a one capacitor mod of the AKG Perception 200 and 400 series mics a while back that fixes harshness...

Sounds similar but has less base response than U87 vintage. That's a good thing too. You need less PP.

Yes. There are GTZ U 87, U87S, U 87 +(with RK 47 capsules). It is confusing which one sounds better.
@@SoniqSounds One GTZ U 87 version claims 129 db output. You claim 137 db output level. There are U 87, U 87S, U87+ (with RK 47 capsules). Pl. clear which version have you used. Pl. also compare NAUMANN U 87ai with all these three versions.

What version did you buy? there are several on the manufacturer's site... GTZ87+, GTZ87 vintage, GTZ87 4A or GTZ87? what about the noise floor on the mic? thanks
I liked the one I have in the link. Noise floor is as much as my Manley reference. Will depend on how well treated the recording environment is.
Yes I was also confused about these GTZ versions. I dont know which version is more close to Naumann U87.
Question is what GTZ U 87 version are you using. He is not asking about acuastic treatment.

@@SoniqSounds These mikes are assembled from Chinese parts used to make fake U87 and in this case it is more than inspiration (even you call it clone). It is stealing intellectual property. The Neumann is informed and I hope the man assembling these mikes will should pay for this. You should remove the link to this mike as well as this video.
