I really like the Icarus Club idea of overriding a later lane card, and the 2nd highest wins is pretty cool - a bit more meta when it's for the long game vs a single round. Question about Icarus Club: I just got done translating the rules for backhander. I thought that when you take a trick you only take the lane card. It doesn’t seem like it matters whether you take 1 or 3 cards in the truck because it’s the same every trick, so why not just make it one card? Also, I thought playing a card to the lane was optional. True or false? Thanks!
Hey there uplift, great clarification and yes the winner takes all the played cards in addition to the lane card(s). This sounds like it makes lane cards less valuable as they're less of the overall points. Also, the rules do say 'must' i regards to overriding. Hope that helps!
The New Mill edition has made some tweaks to the rules, including making overwriting of the lane mandatory. Also some tricks ARE worth more, because if the lane was overwritten there are now multiple cards in that lane position.
