  • Footage of my latest session on a small local River.
The fishing was hard going with cold water temps but I managed a nice Chub in the end using trotting tactics...
Sometimes I feel the tough days make it all the more rewarding when you manage to catch a few fish through grit & determination.
Thanks for tuning in again guys , all the best YRR.

Cheers David. We have lots of Rivers in Yorkshire, this is the Dearne. Not a bad little River. The Swale ,Ure n Wharfe are probably the best Rivers this side of the pennines... I've watched a lot of RUclips videos on the Ribble n always wanted to come over for a day... Will have to this year.... what Rivers do you fish over there pal?

@@yorkshireriverrover7199 the ribble isn't far away from me, I have to say I don't fish it very often as I tend to go for smaller rivers. I'm going to try for barbel next summer to get a utube vid out of it! Always promise myself that, but end up obsessed with game fish and fly for much of the summer 🤣.
The rivers I fish most are the yarrow (a small stream on my doorstep - "luvly chubly"), darwen and now and again the wyre (pike fly vids) I get a kick out of fishing the formerly polluted rivers and seeing them full of fish. Had a few sessions over the border on the aire lately, as my daughter lives over there, and we look after my granddaughter on Mondays. I'm in a game fishing club too, and fish a lovely stretch of the Hodder for sea trout in summer and grayling in winter.
The ribble is a good all round river, but its pretty limited for day tickets, tends to be posh game clubs further up and coarse /mixed clubs in the lower section towards Preston. The tickled trout on the main Preston m6 junction does tickets, but its noisy from traffic. There's free fishing on the tidal bit in Preston, can be good but again, not very tranquil 😂
Lovely river further up the valley though.
I ought to give the Don a go, good grayling! Yarrow still inspires me, although it's on the edge of my town it always has a feeling of being in remote countryside, and it's got a good range of fish since it recovered from virtual extinction, even a half decent run of sea trout crashing through the weirs when it's in flood! (another vid). I'm thinking of doing a bit of a rivers guide video, for free and low price access on the rivers I fish. Tight lines 👍

@@davidprocter1585 thanks for all the info for the Ribble mate 👍. Your ideas for your upcoming vlogs sound brilliant. I will look forward to seeing them... all this flood water has put a spanner I the works for my filming this last 2 weeks but I walked the local cut of the Don yesterday n its looks good again for the last 2 weeks of the season 😃. I'm out for an evening session tomorrow 😉. All the best mate , take care on the bank 👍🎣

Hey up mate, good to see you back on the bank. I’ve got some bad news for you I’m afraid. The EA have been down and decimated the far bank trees all down that stretch. The first peg in this video (my favourite barbel peg) has had all those trees removed from the far bank. It’s the same all the way up to the weir. Such a shame 😢

Oh no mate that's bad news... 😕 I saw the trees were marked with pink spray when I was there... they only did it back in 2017 last time... totally ruined it then 😖. I don't see the point of removing them all. I'll have a walk down there today n check it out... you'll have to find another Barbel swim I guess now mate... hope your well anyway pal?

Hi MrTim, have they removed the tree from the water 3 pegs down from the weir? cause I was looking forward to fishing around that feature come the summer. I mean I know they have their reasons but they do ruin the features and cover for the fish and anglers alike.

@@Sylakk they’ve removed the trees along the gravel beach area, you know where you were trotting that time we spoke? All stripped back to bare bank 😡 quite a lot has been removed, it’s crazy!

@@yorkshireriverrover7199 yeah I’m well thanks mate, just slightly annoyed with the destruction. The barbel will still be there somewhere, wherever there’s cover I guess, probably downstream in the jungle swims now. Quite why they’ve only lopped this stretch and not the overgrown jungle bits, I have no idea. Seems stupid to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@MrTim207 yeah it's crazy, yeah below the footbridge the trees are to overgrown to fish between them... the Barbel will be about somewhere still I hope.. I'll go down tomorrow n check the destruction 😥
