Well, two things. Bearings do matter, yeah. However, spending $140 worth of bearings for you pintail longboard is... Very, very excessive. You see, ceramics are used in fast freeriding or downhill skating. The reason they're ceramic is because at higher speeds, they won't explode. With metal balls, they tend to explode when its near 50ish mph plus. The Ceramic balls make it so it doesn't explode at such speeds. However, just because they are more expensive, doesn't mean they're of better quality, or performance. If you're just pushing around town, then I'd advise to get less expensive bearings. If you like Bones, get some Bones reds, or Bones Swiss if you want to have it last somewhat longer without cleaning it routinely. However, I'm a Zealous man, and I'd advise some Zealous Greens. Whether you're crushing or freeridin, it really doesn't matter. Hell, Zealous Ceramics (what I also ride) cost less than bones, and they're arguably of similar, if not better quality. So, basically, yes. Bearings do matter, but you just have to get the right brand, not the most expensive of their products. And, in regards to you testing the two bearings. In all honesty, I appreciate the time and effort you put into editing, and filming the video, and let alone buying 140 bearings. Its very much a nice touch. However, your tests have too many variables. The jump test had you jump from a distance (how big of a distance? Etc) and you had a one-push test, that also had too many variables. Steering your board, the strength of the push, etc all factored into the results. And another thing is, rollspeed. The rollspeed test doesn't test the speed of the bearing. It has no weight, no load, and how long it rolls doesn't matter because of that. If you're going freeriding or downhill, roll speed doesn't even matter because gravity is pulling you down, making you faster and faster. Bearings simply allow you to roll. However, having nice bearings to roll for a long time after a push is a definite nice feelin, and it can only be tested with weight on it. But the most important thing is that its all in preference. I'll never say Zealous, or Bones, or Oust bearings are the best bearings out there. Do I prefer Zealous over them? Yeah, I do. But that's my own opinion. And thats in your opinion, too. For all I care, you can ride mongo. It doesn't matter to me too much, because its how you ride. How you personally ride. You can ride any bearing you want, any trucks you want, any set up you want. If your setup works for you, then great. Perfect. Maybe my setup is different, but it doesn't mean I have the best setup. Now, I don't mean to shit on your vid. I just wanna fix any misconception, and help you make good vids, and to most importantly teach. Hell, if you personally like those bearings, you can brag to your friends about your $140 bearings, and brag about how much better they are compared to theirs. I appreciate your passion for skating, and I encourage you to keep doing these vids. Please. Keep doing more videos. Because I like your intent, and you wanting to teach, you gained a sub from me Tl;dr Better, less varied tests are needed, higher bearing price doesn't mean higher quality, and keep skating brother.
Wow! My mind is blown on the wealth of info you provided. From me hardly knowing much about bearings, you greatly broadened my insight on them; especially on different brands and why certain materials, like ceramic, is called for certain riding situations. Bearings EXPLODING! I had no clue that that happens. I don't bomb hills, (respect to those who do) but I now see that I could've saved some money for the type of riding I do. Thanks for your expertise and sub brother, it's very much appreciated.
Alphonso Duncan Hey, of course my man. I love the amount of effort and passion you put into the vid. Keep skating man, everyone learns something new every day.
Just wanna leave a comment here and say that metal bearings "exploding" at 50mph is absolute bullshit. Quality bearings like you find with zealous are rated for speeds and loads dramatically higher then what we see in downhill longboarding. Plenty of the top racers that go speeds excess of 70mph during races use steel ball bearings. I've personally gone in the high 50s for years of DH and it's always been on either seismic tektons or zealous, both steel ball bearings. Ceramics are popular for rain riding specifically since it's less metal to worry about rusting, but ceramics still have metal races.
That wrapper didn't have the 2 stickers the factory slaps on it m depending are where you bought these they could be fakes . Bones is the most counterfiet ed bearing
Lol I hope not. They were bought online. I gave them away on a complete, but I remember when I broke them in, one kick/push seemed to coast for a while. Actually wish I kept them lol
I bought these for my dusters California cruiser and they were soooo much better than any other bearing I got. I was riding my longboard the other day in the rain so 4 of them are rusted. Long story short, get these bearings I’ve never had a bearing roll so fast and smoothly after being broken in and taken care of

Also, wear a helmet please. I don't want you to hurt yourself. Maybe some slide gloves too, if you're wanting to slide.

Is ok man don’t tell us your life
The editing is hands down the best.
You need to brake the swiss ceramics in
you need to break in your bearings man, you'll notice after a few sessions. You'll suddenly be getting more speed out of nowhere.
yes, need to spin the greese around first.
That music makes me want to gouge my ears out .
I'm pretty sure u need to let them burn in
Can i have my board back

so how are the ceramics? after you broke them in, worth the money or now?
