@@ahmedadel830If I remember Makoto Shinkai made a whole episode by himself (yes everything except music and sound design), Yoshimichi Kameda and Hironori Tanaka animated like 20 episodes each in FMAB, But yeah, Imai is a different kind of beast.

Thank you for this video. I haven't seen all anime out there, but this season of Attack on Titan right here remains in my mind as the best animated anime season I've ever seen, and I don't want people to forget, along with the second season and the first season of One Punch Man. I mean every single frame is picture perfect, with the thick lines and colors adding so much character to every second. Not to mention the hand drawn titans, mindblowing. This presentation is an enormous reason why the first and second seasons are my favorite in AOT.
I really didn't even cared how good AOT looked , it was just so suspensful , the titans , i still remember when Female titan appeared and it was concluded its an abnormal titan than she smiles seeing eren terrified me .This brings back memories when i just started watching anime
I believe Eren vs Annie (forest) is the best looking 1v1 titan fight in the show so far it's why i hope Imai and some old animators come back in the final episode.
Great video! I can tell this took a lot of work. As an animator I think your analysis is really helpful and informative. While thick lines can help hide small errors the varying and dynamic line width in AOT can be difficult to maintain. Props to any animation team putting in that work.
All this great directing in the first season was due to the director Tetsuri Araki, his touche are also present in his other works such as Death Note and High School of the Dead, a legendary director
@@zenitsuthunder3946 I just love his consistency, he can make a show that exceeds 25 episodes with a great animation in each episode, if the studio production I.G worked on AOT instead of Wit, we would have seen Araki the director to this moment but unfortunately it did not happen
The first season was really amazing and if anything back then was the golden age of anime productions because their wasn't as many high profile shows like now.
Thanks for this amazing video ! I really love AOT and wanted to know more about it animation wise. Hey PP(if that makes your shortform) ,Arifumi Umai is working on JJK S2(Source: MAL) as well ,which is under studio MAPPA , than why such a experienced member in AOT animation is not involved in AOT Season 4s.

they'll sleep on this but eat up anything mappa has to shit out, they bite the hands that fed them, the O.G the Godfather of this anime in the first place and created just to produce AoT
I believe the second season is the most visually appealing. All the characters were impeccably rendered, in the close up shots, thanks to the implementation of advanced painting technology. The scenes with only characters talking received significantly more attention to detail, unlike in the first season, where at times, it seemed like only their mouths were moving. In my opinion, it was an overall superior season.
S1 is like the objectively best animated season of AOT (even though i massively prefer the newer style). Even Wit peaked with this season. Especially since it was released in 2013, there weren't people scrutinizing "compositing", still frames etc. They did go overboard with the camera movements (considering the show isn't actually a shounen) but i like how it throws people off in to believing that it is an action show. For what it had to do, i strongly believe S1 is absolute perfection (my fav is still s4 p 2&3 but that is a lot due to the content)
I think that they changed the style at the exact right moment of the story. I prefer the old style, but I don’t think it would fit the modern story of the show

Amazing compositing with some horrendously awful storyboarding, and apart from the 2-3 scenes we get from Masayuki Kunihiro or Abe per season, the animation is virtually nonexistent, it's a slideshow.
This video is an analysis of the first season of AOT . The quality of WIT animation on the show took progressively a dip dive as seasons went . Actually , you can already see some cracks appear as early as season 2 , during the last 3-4 episodes, they overused still frames with motion lines and the decrease of sakuga animation . Season 3 part 1 only had great animation at the beginning and end of the arc because it was not as action heavy as the previous seasons (the rest had a decent animation) . Season 3 part 2 had the worst compositing and the worst animation in any AOT related content produced by WIT . The one and only scene with great animation was Levy fight against the Beast titan and was animated by Arifumi Imai , the quality of rest of the animation ranges from decent, to mediocre (there was no ODM scene , only the background moving ; there was no titan fight , only awkward close up and still frames).
