Today my daughter's 2018 Malibu started making a scraping/dragging noise that sounded to be coming from the rear passenger side tire area. We were driving in city and slowed down to get in L. turn lane to merge into Interstate when it first started. We pulled over and looked at it carefully and couldn't see anything rubbing against the tire or dragging from that area. The noise was less noticeable at higher speeds and did stop after some miles. Planning to take the car to the shop but would like some idea of what this could be. Tires are new and alignment done a couple of weeks ago. Thanks!
Hello, I have a 2018 Malibu, and I have had that noise for a long time, I have already changed many rear parts, both shock absorbers, bearings, break discs, and until today I have become desperate with the noise, I have taken it to three mechanics and they found it the noise, but today I went to watch your video, and I liked it, I will take it to the mechanic and explain and hopefully that is the problem, one question, could I put the two washers on it? thank you so much
I have changed the knuckles on my 18. And the popping noise went away on take off. But now I have that rattle. Hopefully the washer fixes it. It's at the dealer now. 🙏
Saw someone say it could be the knuckle behind the wheel too.. my car does this and I don't know which mine is. How important is that torque 15 ft lbs of the shock? I don't have a torque wrench as I'm not a mechanic
Yes knuckle is another possibility. 15 ft lbs is not very much at all if you tighten it without torque wrench just make it snug but def don't put a lot of muscle behind it
@@gregoryharris3493 Im still under warranty so my dealer is going to look at it when I get my car serviced. I self diagnosed the rear right knuckle bushing as sticking.
What years did this affect? I have a 2014 Impala I just got the back shocks replaced and, I’m hearing this rattling from my back passenger side. I’m taking it back to the shop tomorrow. Maybe the shock needs to be adjusted? I don’t know the drivers side sounds fine. So, really no clue but, it’s annoying as hell. I can hear it when I drive down the road.
I just had may car in for a speaker issue and i mentioned a rattling in the RR at highway speed. The told me it was as knuckle and would be $1400. To me it sounds like this would be the issue as the sound is higher. Only 25000 on the car as well so hard to believe it's a knuckle. BTW They fixed a "blown" speaker but still had the same sound and they are trying to charge $350
Yeah had my mechanic messing with this today for the knocking sound. He took off the shocks and when u would move the car it still made the knocking. He told me it’s the bushing where the spindle knuckle is at so now I’m gonna have to get those parts. Why did Chevy mess this up. The Malibu is a 2018. Shouldn’t be doing that crap.

The TSB also mentions a popping noise, which my car has. Anytime weight is shifted on my drivers side rear tire there's a very audible popping noise.
