  • This train derailment is fake, but the training first responders receive at this facility is very realistic.

    That 2022 derailment, Scouts and Adult Leaders (Scouters) helped assist people and saved a few lives since they were just coming back from Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. All the scouts and scouters had their Wilderness First Aid Certification. One of the scouts was with the trucker in his final moments. The first responders used them to help evacuate the rest of the people and help with basic first aid once they arrived on scene.

    While the derailment is fake, it’s best for people to know what to do when encountering a dangerous and deadly derailment.

    Great seeing there are places first responders can go to receive training for train derailments and other rail emergencies.

    Fun story. I actually did a milsim event at meridian first responders training site. We did a terrorist hostage sim on the Amtrak train and I got to breach the F40. Ended up taking a sim round to the plate carrier hurt to. We also did recon training and a few other drills over that weekend. Amazing site and great guys running it.

    That railroad crossing was irresponsibly designed in my opinion. No crossing where the speed limit is 79 mph should ever be unprotected, and certainly not built at a steep angle, causing trucks to slow down as they cross it. If a train approaches at that speed and the truck is too close to stop, but still climbing a steep grade, I'm not convinced that it can get out of the way in time. I actually blame the railroad operating that crossing in this particular collision.

    NS and Operation Lifesaver are giving 1st responders training on things to be aware of, not only on the track you are working on but the adjacent surroundings and this IS a very good thing. 20 years Fire & EMS and I have responded to individuals who had trespassed and got hit or people attempting suicide, none of which were anything but just tragic.

    I Don’t if it was just me, but they never told anyone what happened after that derailment. I was expecting to see some dash cam footage from the cab of that Amtrak. Or a black box recording. Anyhow, Nice Video as always man! Also Congrats on Over 70K Subscribers! 🎉🎉🎉

    Why do passenger trains always derail after hitting big vehicles

    • @CP_N503
      @CP_N503 7 месяцев назад +2

      They probably travel faster and weigh less than freights, my best guess.

    • @ArxCyberwolfPC
      @ArxCyberwolfPC 7 месяцев назад +2

      They're a lot lighter than freight trains, and large vehicles require more force to push out of the way. Since passenger trains are lighter, they're far more likely to get knocked off the rails when they impact the vehicle.

    • @ADIX2400
      @ADIX2400 7 месяцев назад +1

      Passenger trains are a lot lighter than the standard freight trains. Vehicles such as tractor trailer require a lot of effort to push out of the way and since passenger trains are a lot lighter they are more likely to be pushed off the rails.

    • @richardwoodworth7705
      @richardwoodworth7705 7 месяцев назад +1

      It’s a combo of the lighter weight for the passenger train, but also the much faster speed they travel.
