I hope that Class 313 “313201” in BR Blue livery should be preserved. Very sad to see the Class 313 end their life with Southern. Rest in Peace Class 313.
I feel the same and I believe that was the to be the intended unit for preservation, but it seems that the yellow Network Rail unit 313121 is going to be the preserved unit. Only found that out a few days ago. This because it still has its original seating and dual voltage equipment. 201 does not have any of this. Shame as it does look good in its modified blue and grey livery.
Yet another great video - thank you for this. I had hoped to capture some south coast 313 action myself, but I was scuppered by work and industrial action. My last ride would have been a few years ago from Hove to Brighton. First ride would have been a trip from Hatch End to Euston when I were a nipper! Sad to see them go. 😢 I guess we could all do with a PEP talk after this! 🤣
Thank you I had hoped to be able to travel to the south coast to see (and ride) 313 201 when it was in normal service but I never knew (in advance) exactly when this train would be running, nor on which diagrams (ie: on which services). The only information I had was for that specific day. Had it been possible to buy a DaySave ticket on the day of travel I might have taken a chance, but needing to buy it several days in advance was a deterrent, and in the end I only got to see 213 201 on this farewell tour.
I’m 😢 & 😠 that these units being withdrawn and worst being… Well, you know, what happened to them. And I’m angry they are being, you know the word (which I don’t really like to say because it upsetting) of course.
Really appreciate your videos (and the history of your work) but I’m not a fan of that speed up effect used around 4:53 - I think Geoff Marshall started it but I find it spoils the sense of ‘being there’ when watching.
I love the fact that they repainted a unit in its original livery
Thankfully there are still Class 313s on the Northern line between Hunts Cross and Southport as well as all Wirral line branches!
Those 507s and 508s not 313s. They are pretty similar but not exactly the same
also, with the 777 rollout underway their days are short
RIP Class 313
Loved the musical ending at Brighton too!
I’m sure that blasted years worth of flies and sand out of the horns!
The horns were fantastic - in a noisy way!! But only for this special occasion / I'd not want to hear this every day.
I think they overdid it a bit with the horns lol

I have heard of an attempt to save 313 201, I think its by a train driver but do not know how well this is progressing.

@@CitytransportInfoplus I agree - the setup with day savers does not encourage one to do anything “spur of the moment” on their railway.
Didn't know about this.

And so the curtain comes down on another fleet. 313 1976-2023
yes, only the Merseyrail 507s and 508s remaining.

thanks for the feedback - I very rarely use this speed-up effect, its only done on longer films to shorten them whilst retaining the scene.
