Also, the reason Luffy wouldn’t fight sanji is because sanji wasn’t being truthful. He was lying about everything during that entire interaction. But usopp meant everything he said. He wanted to fight for the Merry.
21:03 "All your excuses sound so fake" And that's why Zoro wouldn't do shit. If Luffy knows isn't telling the truth, then why wouldn't Zoro. Especially since NO-ONE besides Robin and Brooke know about the Thriller Bark incident. Both were ready to die for their captain. Usopp is a different case. Usopp spoke from the heart and meant what he said, Sanji doesn't. He's lying through his teeth
i think zoro wouldnt intervene in the fight except for that last attack. i genuinely think zoro would at the least block it for luffy, or better yet, tank it instead of luffy, since he knows that attack could've killed luffy.
Wrong. Usopp wasn't exactly lying, but he wasn't being honest either. Sure he loved the Merry and wanted to continue the journey with it, but that wasn't the reason behind him leaving. He felt useless and with no place in the crew, and then when he saw them ready to "abandon" the Merry because it was no longer useful he felt like they were one day going to abandon him too. He set up a duel with Luffy as a way to, in the best case scenario, prove his worth. And realistically, to honorably leave the crew as he knew he could never beat him. Luffy also knew Usopp felt worthless, but couldn't bring himself to stop him from leaving because: 1. He knew Usopp's feelings weren't so light that just a quick pep talk could solve the problem. And mainly: 2. Because, just as Zoro said back then, Luffy is their crew's captain, every Strawhat has trusted Luffy with their hopes and dreams, believing that he'll be the king of the pirates, and thus, he can't stop their journey just because a single person is having doubts about continuing The interaction between Luffy and Sanji in WCI is one of the biggest and brightest shows of character development Luffy had post-timeskip. He knows that Sanji is lying through his teeth, just like Usopp, and this time they have even more pressing concerns like defeating Kaido and saving Wano, but instead of worrying about "the responsibilities of a captain" and whatnot, he does what he should have always done, he plants his feet on the ground and says "Nah, I'm not leaving, I can't go on without you, I NEED you." all things he should have said to Usopp in W7. He doesn't even pretend to not know that Sanji is clearly bullshitting just because "he's resolved himself", he puts everything on the table. This is because after Marineford Luffy began to truly understand what matters to him: accomplishing his dream with his crew. Nothing is more important than them, they're what keeps him going. TL;DR: The situations weren't actually that different, this moment is an example of the huge character growth Luffy had after the timeskip
It's the same with Nami in Arlong Park, Luffy sees the problem but his principle is that he doesn't jump in unless the person asks for help from the heart. He wants his friends to be true to themselves.
Honestly I genuinely really doubt zoro is gonna try cutting sanji down for this if he was here. We have seen Zoro respect Luffy's decisions in similar situations, and he wouldn't interfere if Luffy tells him not to. That and Zoro doesn't actually hate Sanji. Same goes the other way. Sanji and Zoro are more like siblings (not exactly by its the closest I can think of).
I think Zoro would stay out of all of it being a respectable person himself except for that last attack Sanji gave. I don't think he would stand by and watch him do that. The only time i think Zoro would disobey Luffy is if his life was in danger. It was with that last attack
@theculturedgentleman369 so it's okay for Zoro to tell Luffy he does not want usoop back if he does not apologize for disrespecting his captain but sanji can disrespect Luffy all day long and Zoro would be fine with it?
@levipeter8381 its not that people are saying zoro would be fine with it, its that people are saying zoro wouldn't attack sanji in that moment. Zoro telling luffy he doesn't want usopp back on the crew was AFTER luffy and usopp had their duel and parted ways. It was also zoro saying "he shouldn't be allowed to come back so easily, you need to put your foot down and not tolerate this. He needs to apologize for what he did." For whole cake island, sanjis motive isn't out of wanting to hold onto something important and personal, it was out of wanting to protect the straw hats. Sanji himself also knew it was bad to strike his captain, but he saw that as not being important as saving them from a confrontation with big mom over him. Luffy also strictly made it clear how he was gonna deal with this, not wavering or just acting on emotional reaction. Zoro gets luffy in line sometimes, but he still acknowledges luffy is his captain, and luffy specifically wanted this fight to not have anyone else come into it. Luffy also only came to this island specifically for sanji. Zoro would definitely have some things to say AFTER they get sanji back for certain, and he'd probably even make a fuss, but that doesn't mean he'd kill sanji or smth. He'd probably tell sanji to believe in his captain more or something.
@worthyedge9307 I'm confused. When Sanji went to Whole Cake Island, he left the crew already. if Zoro saw sanji leaving the crew like usopp and insulted luffy calling him a useless pirate. Then attack him without without fighting back. And usopp after he left, the crew said he still believed in Luffy becoming the king of the pirate, not sanji. What sanji did was beyond disrespectful and zoro will be a useless character if he does nothing when he outright said he will leave the crew next time someone disrespect his captain and let them back so easily after they left like sanji and usopp. I'm very sure there's a good reason zoro was not in the whole country island because it would have divided the fan base even. more. Sanji is absolutely selfish and only cares about himself and women. He even wanted jinbe to die over Nami after he saved his Captain's life when his brother died in front of him, showing his true character when it comes to his captain.
Anyone who says Zoro would have done something honestly have the lowest reading comprehension and honestly I don't know how they made it 808 episodes without knowing anything about the strawhats.
16:20 People always say if Zoro saw this he do this and that. But I argue Zoro is smart enough to know Sanji is a ride and die for Luffty snd wouldnt attack Luffy without a reason. Maybe im looking too deep into
Agreed there, as much as zoro and Sanji hate each other, they don’t really hate each other. They both respect the other. It’s a sibling rivalry type deal.
Here's the thing, Zoro is BIG on the crew respecting Luffy. Ussop announced his challenge and went about it in an honorable way. He did not sneak Luffy. AND EVEN THEN, Zoro was ADAMENT in saying "don't let that nigga back on the ship until he apologizes". So Zoro will crash out regardless of Sanji's reasons, because he didn't show an ounce of respect. Once again, to reiterate, Ussop was real, announced his intentions, and even designated a time. Idk why this is even a talking point.Zoro won't do shit if he was there.Luffy was smart enough to know Sanju was lying Zoro wouldn't be much different.
@@infernalbaka557I swear Zoro edge lords are getting to itachitards levels for most sufferable fan base
This scene hurts. Not gonna lie I hate Sanji every time I see this moment even though I know it was his way to protect the Zeff and crew. It must be traumatised Sanji beating up Luffy like that. Because since then we never saw him kick or hit him.
Nah bruh imagine if zoro was there he would not let it slide snd he would beat the crap out of sanji and his siblings
Wanna be edge lord simp over Zoro but have no media literacy when it comes to how an author writes a character. He knows it’s a losing battle emotionally, Zoro would understand the situation and at best call him weak.
the Dub has no right being this awful, it genuinely makes me mad how bad it is. 😭
Oh man one piece in english is really bad sadly
6.5/10 Dub w but this one of those *you gonna watch the sub version scenes*
Why do you watch this?? You don't even like it. Or any other anime. Plus you watfh things that are 20 years old and you just now watching.
He literally said in multiple reactions that he likes the show
Eng dub just ruins the emotions in the scene. 😢
