Genuine question, im wondering how far into the anime you are, or if you read the manga, because in the beginning hes just throwing tantrums, but act 2? (Btw he def doesnt have any ideals, just chaos, only confused about the tantrums?

There is a video essay by Oceaniz talking about Shigaraki as a character, and narrative and plot device. Spoilers: It is cool how Shigaraki’s journey was such a parallel to Deku’s. They both started out as little kids wanting to be heroes, but Shigaraki got pushed down a darker path. They both lost their mentors at the same time, and in a way later battled trial versions of each other (Overhaul could destroy things with a touch like Shigaraki, and Redestro had a quirk that increased his strength in percentages like Deku). These are a couple things Oceaniz talks about.
I must say I am disappointed with how Shigaraki's story played out. I wanted him to be truly free of All For One so he could become his own villain. I feel like Shigaraki never got the chance to reach his full potential as a villain. As a villain, he was overflowing with such potential and promise. I kind of feel cheated that I won't get to see what he could have been. Imagine if his body reached full power and he was in complete control of it. In addition to this, imagine if he still had control of the Paranormal Liberation Front in its entirety and took full advantage of what it had to offer. That would have been a villain I would want to see. What a waste.
Nah his full potential would have been too much for the plot armour to handle lol. He’s already great and the fact that we know he could have been so much more than what he already was then he’s definitely a great villain imo. Reaching full potential isn’t necessary because I mean look at Anakin Skywalker he is iconic even though he never reached his full potential.

That's what I'm sayin'. He's a man-child who was groomed into being a flesh suit for a mastermind caricature and therefore losing that brief amount of autonomy he eventually developed. Let's not get started on his motivation for doin' what he does and his weak background. A poorly-made villain. People were right to say Chisaki/Overhaul was a better villain.
That's why i'm sad. Hori did probaly one of the boldest moves in SJ history by dedicated one entire arc to power up Shigaraki and yet he left it all to waste. Generational fumble of an author.

(EASY AS HELL) both stain aizawa and lastly deku in a 3 v 1 no contest they could beat him Reason: stains blood curdle could freeze him for an amount of time (plus he got beef with him) while aizawa can use his scarf and quik to disable any actions as well while deku can go all out with his attacks
They literally had multiple super strong heroes taking on Shigaraki with his quriks erased and they all almost died, he has prime All Might level strenght without his quirks lol, you're capping

Goku's punches can shatter mountains. Shigaraki durability ain't built like that.
