I totally agree with making big holes in things. I used to carry nothing but .45LC, think .45 ACP on steroids. Same bullet, almost twice the powder. Either way, they make the 9mm look like a cap gun.

just a point about the shooting drug problem people. the troops had .38 lead round nose bullets. small hole tooo much bad guy. so troops sent home for daddys .45 long colt. that stopped people. the .45acp was made to duplicate the 45 long colt in an auto.
i tend to carry .357mag because sometimes i don't like the truck they drove up in either.
My favorite 1911 45 cap holds 14+1 so I object to the saying you have to sacrifice rounds for the best caliber

the .45 is a big, slow bullet. If you need to shoot someone and have them seriously reconsider getting back up, .45 is your weapon.
Sadly hollow point ammo is banned in warfare because a hollow point 9mm is quite effective.
The US never actually ratified that part of the treaty, and has procured jacketed hollowpoints for special forces use in the last decade.

buh! the 9mm has 15 rounds... hey keyboard warrior today you can buy 1911's with double stack mags, its got thicker comfier grip for my big hands and it holds 14+1. and to those of you complaining about the recoil, i been shooting 1911s sense i was a kid, i never saw an issue with the recoil, maybe u need to lift some weights? the people who think 9mm is a good self defense round clearly live alone and probably always will cause fast small bullets go thru the bad guy and the wall and risk hitting ur family and neighbors. big slow 45 stops on impact.

I am looking at buying a fire arm and I am definately leaning on a1911 since I spend alot of time in the mountains.
9mm is better if your talking hollow point but when your taking about ball Ammo cause the military only shoots ball Ammo 45 way better
I was a military police when they changed. The 9mm is better, they bought the wrong ammo.
Military uses FMJ for everything and even condoms come in different sizes and attributes. Hollow point in a 9mm is far superior to a 45 and more versatile.
I'll stick with my 45

As an infantry/recon Marine. Your 9mm has nothing on a .45ACP yours might go through a door🙄Mine will go through and kill whatever is behind it. If you need the 9mm, I suggest you got to the rage more often.
