The fact that you tried digital art for the first time and that you said "Making mistakes and dealing with them can help you grow as a artist" is a great inspriration for anyone who needs it.
Appreciate what you said about over-reliance on the undo button, and I love what you said about the feel and smell of traditional art. You almost seamlessly translated your pencil drawing style over to the tablet, and that's impressive. The only thing I like about digital art is the ability to zoom in (and spend hours on tiny details that nobody else will ever see when I zoom back out again). Thanks for another great video, Josh. :)
I have my iPad Pro coming in tomorrow, and I am brand new to the art scene. It's very scary, but watching this video really inspired me. I also love the cozy atmosphere of your channel in general. New subscriber!
Traditional drawing tools are still my preferred. But I also do digital. Initially, it was frustrating. My joy was crushed. I fell for the trap of 1000 shiny colorful options. Jumping all around was interrupting the joy. I really enjoy the advantages of digital. I can explore trying different colors etc, save the versions or merge them. In traditional art, canvas and oil paints are expensive, and so I hesitated to explore a different feel. My programs of choice are - Procreate for drawing (Savage Interactive). - Sketchbook for drawing (formerly Autodesk, now from Sketchbook, Inc) - Inkpad for simple vector art (Envoza, Derrick Pollard) I have these, a bit more challenging, might learn later - Concepts app for 2d landscape, architect presentation, etc (Tophatch) - Nomad Sculpt for sculpt, paint 3d modeling (Hexanomad), I watch youtuber Dave Reed instructionals i’m on M4 iPad Pro. Note: There are many other choices. I rarely do free apps unless they have a good history of support or reputation. Most that I listed, I trust, have annual or major upgrade version cost. I want them to stay in business so i do subscribe. A few of these and others are relatively small companies, a handful of people, or open source originally or still. Enjoy❤
wow Josh art! your art is amazing! and the beginning when it was showing the sky and other places was really reminding me of ghibli movies where it always takes a moment of peace.
2:46 I truly agree. That's why i kind of dislike only drawing digitally.I love to draw both and to become a true artist you should know how to deal with mistakes and how to do them less.Great video💛
I learned in digital art is not try to replicate traditional art. Me too sometimes I felt the authenticity of traditional art is there and the customization of every moment for which I see beautiful. I get why the art industry still prefers traditional mediums though digital art is getting recognition in the traditional industry. For me, I'm want to try to take the plunge to do digital art and begin officially but felt discouraged of not having enough as I will put it but also the benefits of traditional art are there but I don't love traditional art as I would like cause there's so much to put on the effort and then the motivation to actually do it. I really see the beauty in the convenience but I don't over depend on it or I try to. Also digital feels simpler, limitless and unique on its way to me Great work by the way for something trying for the first time.
Not only does this creator do water colouring, Canvas painting and traditional drawing, he also does digital art, proving that it is never too late to try something new.
I feel the same way! Traditional art has so much value and authenticity! Especially in this digital world of convinience (ctrl z) I feel like using actual art materials has a lot of character.
i guess thats a good way of thinking about it but i feel like i do more digital art because i have a broad range of colors ect. its easier than buying a bunch of art supplies
@starburst740 So i guess its person to person.Bcz im a type of person who is ready to spend lots of money on hobby's.But some people don't want to spend money like that.Prolly thats why people started doing digital art more :(
Hello👋 I paused this video @5:12 because I had to comment. I am SOOO impressed. I will finish watching and have saved it to watch again. I surf sometimes for new ideas and styles. Thank you for sharing. I have a dream. To combine my Art with new ideals and forms. I am 66 years of age. Retired and wish to return to college and earn a degree in Computer/Art/Photography/ Writing. Fork Artist. I burn pictures I sketch from nature on wood. I build things with my hands. Dreamcatchers. All natural. My hoops are of pine and maple ashe vines and kudzu. Whatever I find in the mountains as I walk different trails. My feathers are all natural birds. Beads are as natural as I can find. My pictures and Art all tell a story. I have been doing this many years. Since a child. But never pursued my first choice in life. To become an Artist. Because I enjoy it. It fills me with completeness when I gift my Art to friends and family on Birthdays and Christmas 🎄 At times I make hand made cards as well. I studied the History of Fine Arts but my professor said I was an excellent student because of my detailing. I dropped out of college with regret. He wanted to take us on tour to New York on a student outing to visit the Art Museums and study the architect and design of buildings and bridges there. In conclusion this video shared is exactly what I wish to learn. I'm not very good on computer. But put a pencil in my hand and I sit for days and weeks sketching. It's very fulfilling. I look for tools to learn new ways. From other Artists like this. It is an amazing thing. Art. Combined with Music 🎵🎶 I pass my skills on too. And my mistakes. So others can learn as well. I worked at Day Care many years ago. And have 10 grandchildren. I have gifted them my pencil 📝 and my painting skills.🎨🖌️ Also wood burning. All those children smiled and some went on to become Art Students and today still use those skills for enjoyment. I'm excited now. Really excited 😊 To finally run across something I can use and share too. Folks. 👉 ARTISTS ROCK!! THANK Y'ALL FOR SHARING 🙏
Honestly....after shifting from traditional art to digital, i realised how it felt like cheat codes when it comes to drawing bcoz of how convenient it can get 😂. But i dont like that I've developed the habit of trying to zoom in on paper due to doing digital art lol. My brothers a traditional artist too and he still draws in one canvas when he does digital art...drawing, colouring, shading, everything..its kinna painful to watch ngl 😂 hed prefer paper more
You did not liked because you did not tested galaxy s9 fe, i bought one and my brother bought an magic pad 3 months ago, he drew many hours and liked but after use my galaxy tab s9fe he really surrended to it 😊 it is way better on drawing, i got so surprised because the tabs9fe really express the feeling we feel when watch on youtube videos of people playing but i tested tab s6 lite and it wasnt close to what i expected.. it was last year, this year i decided to give an try on s9fe because of the better perfomance with 6gb ram plus 2gb digitally.. it flows amazing, i them noticed there is the tab s9 fe plus an gorgeous 12inch screen and has 8gb ram physical that means better than digitally so im waiting for it arrives😊 I hope if you sent back you can give an try on galaxy, i used the old ones too and they were good but today their performance cant follow the apps heavy. So thank you for inspire me even more, i love draw and sculpt and my main goal is sculpt but it hyped so much that im also planing going back to draw and learn so more about light and shadows with hyuk lee courses
@@arjaypelingon yes it has. On nomad sculpt it works nicely and has the option, on infinite painter as well but sometimes infinite painter bugs,i mean very very often even so im enjoying the brushs more than autodesk sketchbook
It's up to personal preference, as everything is in the world. I tried procreate on few occasions and found painting on ipad very uncomfortable, as much as painting on any screen tablet. So back to abusing screenless boards we go
The brush engine of procreate feels really unpleasant in comparison to other drawing softwares. There is also a limit to layers depending on your canvas size
Because the Magic Pad was specifically made for digital art. Is it also cheaper, has a better haptical feeling and last but not least has more pressure levels.
I have a huion tablet and the truth is that I feel the need to create something that has life within the animation but nevertheless I like the traditional drawing, it relaxes me.
I’m currently switching from traditional to digital because I want to share my art but I realize it’s very complicated. I prefer traditional for many reasons but I feel like I need to know how to draw digitally for some reason😭
Thanks you for this video😢😭😭 finally understood something . About which to be pick digital or traditional art. Doesn't matter choose we're your heart is ❤.🎉😊😊

Your skills transfer well over to digital. But your art looks amazing no matter what medium you use!

Amo cuando las raíces se quedan por estar bien cimentadas. No es necedad, es porque resuena que la materia es el camino.

I'm watching you from 3 years ago but your drawing is good

Amazing job as always
As a digital artists you di great ❤
Eraser was forbidden in our art studio. And it really changed how i draw. It was painful yet gave a skill to me
I’m actually trying to learn how to draw without relying on erasers, you got any pointers?

omg it means i can sketch on my pad also 😮 i would like to stay continue if u upload more on digital art
👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
A different feeling. I doubt, anyone will come up with a drawing tablet imitating standard media drawing feel anytime soon.
Question: Why do you need a graphics tablet if you have an iPad? For a CG artist, nothing better has been invented than Procreate
I’ve changed to Art studio pro !
It's up to personal preference, as everything is in the world. I tried procreate on few occasions and found painting on ipad very uncomfortable, as much as painting on any screen tablet. So back to abusing screenless boards we go
I think for the corporate world, Adobe apps are more used?
