I have this sentence on my ESL classes for editing: " The head of the committee is getting the volunteers are making the food." Which is proper way to say: "is getting ... make the food?" or "is getting .... making the food?" From what I understand, the former should mean giving the opportunity to make the food while the latter is to start making the food. Is it correct? Thanks in advance. I like the presentation! It' s very helpful.
I think your 'I've got to do' is pretty similar to 'I have to' and has the same meaning. You don't have to see the video, you got to see it! You got the opportunity to see it! You don't have to work here, you got to work! There was a great chance to take over the company and now it's yours! When you were an employee you had to work there, but now you got to do it!
Finally someone explained that composition (get+ing or get +infinitive verb). Many times I’ve heard it but no clue. Thanks a lot.
