I made vinyl signs as a graphic designer for several years. We used MacTac, an adhesive glue spray. But, when we ran out we would use Windex window spray. Both worked great. We only sprayed the surface we were applying the vinyl to not the vinyl. You don’t don’t need to wait for it dry either. We made huge signs and would tape hinge the vinyl to the window or substraight. This made positioning the vinyl more accurate. Also, we wouldn’t remove the transfer tape completely either. We would remove only a few inches at a time so we could control the vinyl better. I’ve gotten out of the habit of doing it this way because with the Cricut my designs are much smaller. (I would cut 48” x 60”+!) definitely a two person job! Glad you discovered this technique and are sharing it.

I got some of the transfer paper for Christmas, so I decided to give that a try. The reason I had a problem previously was that I didn't know you were supposed to let it dry for a while after applying. I thought you put it on, squeegeed, & immediately removed the tape or paper. Thanks so much for this video, Jennifer - I'm over the moon right now! :-)

This could be pretty embarrassing to me. When I was having trouble getting bubbles out a few weeks ago, my husband insisted that I could do a better job if I wet it. After all, he said he had been putting on decals for years and HE knew how to do it. I pooh poohed him and said he didn’t know about this material, though, and that it could absolutely not be applied wet. Sigh. Are you going to prove me soooo wrong? Will I have to eat crow?

    • @JenniferMaker

Susan, my guy Greg did sign installation for several years. So when I began crafting with vinyl, he had many suggestions too. I was also skeptical of his advice at first, I will admit. But I've found his experiences DO help me. Greg taught me how to get transfer tape off the back of vinyl (when applying it to something) better, for example. So the answer to your question is ... probably, yes. But you can blame me for not teaching you this technique earlier!

I've tried, 65#, 80# and 120# with equal results, some skipped areas when the foil appears to be flat. Any tips you can provide would help. I've invested heavily and can't seem to make this work.
