0:48 oooh, don’t know the result of this one. So excited to watch two of my favourites, especially Gawad. 48:24 what a great match, wonderful sportsmanship by both players, beautiful backhand drives, boasts (my favourite shot which I could actually do quite well, after years and years of practice) and just a pleasure to watch. Bravo to both players 👏👏👏👏

Unfortunate that Gawad didn't take this one. Coll is just a bit too physichal for him at the moment. Hopefully we get to see him score some great results in the coming tournaments. I really have my fingers crossed to see this comeback from Gawad!

What's the rationale for not checking balls either down or out of court?

Sad to see how the decisions were from the referee...

at 39:18 there is a no let Video revieuw.
Does the VR nows what decission is taken?
in my mind he could hit the ball easy for the 2e bounce... but all decided NL
and why does it look so dark? the walls or is it something technical.

Coll is nowhere near where he was a year ago. His shots are inaccurate and also he doesn't look as fast he was a year ago. Dont know what has happened.....
Nice to see Gawad back, he has always been a player with great sportsmanship.

Can someone tell me the difference between the let given when he said “you were also fast onto him” and the one at 19:10? This is why I don’t like to ref cos I never understand the difference between let’s and strokes when I watch pro squash 😂

Honestly Calum, it’s a split second decision, because if you hesitate you forget where the players are and where the ball is. Don’t give up on refereeing. It’s like playing; practice makes you better. As for the decisions, each person sees the situation differently, so you go with your immediate reaction. I could write a whole page on the difference between a let and a stroke….but each situation is different and it depends on the players speed and movement around the court.

A bunch of questionable decisions against Gawad in the first game; surprised he didn't review any of them. Maybe second game too. 😕

In terms of squash entertainment, it was pants for a best of three shootout. Just watch Mueller vs Hesham as a comparison. I guess that`s how it is with some match ups.

The quality in this match was much higher though. The rallies were better structured, both players were persistent in keeping the ball straight, and points came from the player executing an attack at a good opportunity; overall it was a great example of textbook shot selection. In Hesham vs Muller neither played particularly well, and Muller gifted Hesham so many points from tins and attacking too early in the rally allowing Hesham to easily hold and snap the ball past him. I think both matches are good for the game in their own way; face value excitement from one and deeper appreciation from the other.

Where is refereeing heading if this is the gold standard? Gawad was tucked up against Shorbagy last week... Very strange rationale being employed.

    Mozarella with some awful refereeing.

    • @chrispowell8043

Will JM still be refereeing when he is 80 yrs old? Also, be careful not to commit to early in trying to hit the ball as you won't get a decision. Ridiculous rationale.

I have been watching videos on this channel for a few months now, and have yet to see any referee call a foot fault in any of the matches. In some matches, it's more the case of 'spot the legal/correct serve'. Yet the rules still state that . . . "players must keep one foot inside the service box during the serving motion. " ??? 🤔

Great effort from Gawad. Overall brilliant match. Pity about the trash commentary yet again bringing Squash TV into a tabloid style of banter.

I’m sorry the female is a terrible commentator. 26:15 in an epic rally just blurts out just as coll is about to hit the ball off a back wall boast. Way to kill the suspense. That amongst other things. Just irritating
