Had the pleasure of meeting Ramy when he visited us here in Pune/India 3 years back. We had a long 2 hour dinner..4 adults and some 8/10 kids. Nice jolly good fellow

Dave Palmer at his best was just a machine.
Watched him as a 15 year old kid who played a former top 20.
Watching the former pro warm up, thought it would be over pretty quick.
It was in about 15 minutes. Palmer 3-0 against Roy Ollier.

Yup. And here, a 19 year old Ramy destroyed him 3-0 in 30 minutes and made him look like he belonged in a lower category. Too bad his hamstring injury cut his career short, but Ramy has been by far the greatest player the sport has seen.

@@trinerd Yes, but you could also watch one of their other matches where Palmer gave Ramy a few lessons and made him look silly.

It's not so much about someone teaching the other one some lessons but there are days when one is simply struggling to find their game and that's when the other gets the better of them

I remember seeing Ramy the first time at the 2006 world championships.
He was practicing with other players and I told to myself : ‘ouaw this guy has some magic in his racquet ‘

I remember watching this on television in 2007. It was the first time I had seen either player and I was instantly mesmerized by Ramy Ashour. There are several top players I enjoy watching but must say that no one comes ahead of Ashour.
Thanks for posting; also love the commentaries and victory interview.

this era is not as completive as those days of palmer Ramy power fading Nicoe or earlier power JK Nicole. Let us hope that may happens

Similar to what happened to Djokovic and Messi in their earlier days, both had to make drastic changes in their diet to stay injury free. Only wished Ramy had done the same then who knows, we could had witnessed more great moments from the GOAT himself. Thanks for another great vid

What sort of changes did they make?

Ramy Ashour's 'problem' was a botched ACL reconstruction when he was a teenager - large chunk taken out of his hamstring muscle, which condemned him to regular injuries
A great pity, because at his best, Ramy was on another level when compared with his contemporaries

Not sure what you mean by diet changes but pretty sure his injuries were not related to diet. These pro players play many hours every day with intense games making it easy to get injuries from overuse.

This was back when Delierre Productions used to shoot-record the top PSA tournaments. Looks like at least 5 cameras...numerous mics. Back in early 2000s, and the AV quality was top notch.
