    Got lucky enough to get into squash when Ramy was at his peak. For me he just lived up to his name as the maverick. You could adopt elements from his game but the skill and audacious shot selection is simply genius at times.
    The other player I loved watching was Nick matthew who never had the flair but instead honed every element of his game to be as good at it as he could be. I think more of us could aspire to be Nick Matthew but that doesn’t stop us dreaming of being Ramy.

    • @ARProformance
      @ARProformance  3 года назад +3

      I love your comment Rob. Thanks for sharing. Nick Matthew's game style is definitely relatively more easily replicated (incredibly hard to do, but simpler). Ramy was a Maverick and dinner aspects will forever only be Ramy's!

      More recently theres paul coll. His game is simple but every element is close to perfect. Strength, speed, accuracy, pace, defending, shot game etc.

    Dear Ahad, After I watch your videos my first impression is that your analysis makes me livid as a fellow coach and player. I must say I watch them twice over to grasp how you present these insightful stats and diagrams with such clarity and simplicity!

      Hello Sami - Thanks for sharing :) I appreciate your curious and critical perspective (coach and player).
      Out of curiosity, why do they make you livid at first?

      @@ARProformance It's natural to feel livid as a fellow coach when I see your level of commitment and reading of the game. We were having a small coaching conference yesterday in Groningen and someone mentioned your work in appreciation, no wonder you debunk a lot of aspects and make them so simple to understand especially for players who don't have access to good coaching. I am sure Sqaushskills can take a few lessons too:D

      I appreciate your honesty Sami. Thank you for sharing. If you think I may be helpful / of value at a future coaching conference, please put me in touch with the organizing committee. I'd love to discuss possibilities 🙏🏼 Chat soon,

Keep up the good work. Moreover it's a pleasure to see you reach out to every person who comments on your channel. Jaza k Allah

    Another great analysis video, thanks Ahad.
    You have described Ramy's many talents here -- as well as these, I consider what made him so great was his innate ability to process what was happening more quickly than his other (very talented) opponents -- this was demonstrated by his ability to accurately volley many shots that his opponents would need to play as ground strokes.
    I do wonder if some are born with this innate mental skill that mere mortals like me could never develop, no matter how much I worked on it!
    I think it was that 2014 World Championship that you feature here where Ramy came back after a 6-month injury break to beat Mohamed El Shorbagy in the final -- I recall one monumental rally won by Ramy where Mohamed leaned back against the side wall with a big grin on his face that said "how on earth did you do that?" Respect ...

    • @ARProformance
      @ARProformance  3 года назад +3

      Thank you Peter. You're absolutely right about that one epic rally! Ramy definitely had / has some special gifts. As a society we have a tendency to assign 'genius' to such figures. I truly believe that with a LOT of hard work, the 'right' guidance, an empowering, challenging, and supportive environment, more of us could achieve more. The legends like Ramy likely do have some genetic advantage, but I truly do feel that all of us are leaving something on the table in our squash, lives, etc. - sometimes unfortunately, through no fault of our own (e.g. being born into poverty etc.). A bit philosophical, but I wanted to share :)
      Take care, and thanks for your continued support Peter,
      - Ahad

      @@ARProformance agree that hard work can take people a lot further than we think. But if you’re citing the “ten thousand hours” like from Malcom “I tell stories not truths” Gladwell, I have bad news: the stats did say 10k hours, but the variance is +\- 7k hours, or 70%. It might take some 3k hours, and someone else 17k, almost six times as long.

    Really great video - Ramy was just a totally unique squash genius. Perhaps you could do a video on what you think are the best solo drills? Ramy had some really insane drills he used to do

      Thanks Bernard 🙏🏼 There are many videos on RUclips about solo drills. Chris from Serious Squash has lots of videos on solo.

    ramy is indeed a worthy champion
    he is so creative in the way he conjures his shots
    the more traditional champions tend to stick to set pieces but with ramy his often time unorthodox shot making is just a pleasure to watch

    Can ramy techniques be a model that juniors can simulate ?

    • @ARProformance
      @ARProformance  3 года назад +2

      Some things definitely yes! Part of me wants to say yes to everything, haha. I believe that in time, a lot can be learned. It will definitely take conscious effort, diligent practice, and a lot of consistent hard, smart training!
      We can certainly learn a lot from him, and borrow things, even if they aren't exactly like Ramy. After all, there is only one Ramy, and we can all strive to be the best versions of ourselves 🙏🏼
      Thanks for your continued support Mohamed 😊

    Hello my name is Tristan, what did ramy do to make him such a good mover on the court

    • @ARProformance
      @ARProformance  3 года назад +1

      I feel that it was a combination of several things including staying light on his feet, timing his split step, his ability to read the game, his accuracy of hitting which minimized options for his opponents (thus making his movement more efficient), pure determination, some natural genetic factors I'm sure. So many things go in to it. Most importantly, a LOT of practice!!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
      Thanks for your support,
