i like the size of the Aberdeens, they look meatier than the Dexters.

They did a study that showed that the American Aberdeen can produce more beef per dollar than other breeds of larger cattle.
Around here seems like people use Dexters more for milk than meat.

How many of those you think I can put on 10 acres?

    • @GivenChancesFarm

There are a lot of variables that would change how many per acre. Under the right conditions 2 cow/ calves per acre.

If you supplement them with some cake or feed you could maybe get more than 20’on 10 acres. Depends on the area and rain fall and if you give ‘em hay. I would. Say 20 but probably 12 to 15 with minimal supplements. Could get costly if you get to many. Better safe than sorry.

Are these all grass fed? Thank you!

We supplement them with Alfalfa cubes/ pellets and free choice Vitaferm 5S mineral. When we have heifer calves they are brought into the barn at weaning time, then they are supplemented with grain while in the barn.

Thank you! The American Aberdeen cattle work great from small acres for us.
We were able to sell our first steer in January to be processed for beef and we received a message from them thanking us for raising such quality animal.
We’re trying to grow and share how we do things to help others avoid some of the mistakes that we have made.
Thanks for the comments. Feel free to ask us questions anytime, as you can tell from the videos I don’t have a problem talking. Lol
