The KS8 is a sami - knife, made in Norway. "Knivsmed" is the norwegian word for knifesmith, and Strømeng is considered the number one knifesmith for sami - knives in Norway. the sami - knife is a hybrid between a knife and an axe, and as such it is really made to do exactly the kind of work you have just demonstrated. I'm glad you like it ;)
Say Heah, When Lars Munson crossed Canada, His knife was the Stromeng KS-9, I decided to get one so I ended up getting three total, The KS-9, KS-5, and the Bhuku STAK, I think our wood is harder then wood far North because of the growing season, But I enjoy going traditional sometimes, But I do take a Hatchet along though, Either my Small Forest Axe or my Hultafors Bruks 17" Agdor Hatchet and a Saw. But one think I do agree with, For a lite set, the knives are pretty strong. But the KS-5 and the Bhuku Stak are made in the 12c27 Sandvik Stainless which I like also.
