#StandYourGround yeah I know I was just saying ANY oil. It was just funny to me. It’s definitely not like he lost a quart like I would if I tried to do all that
I saw one who blew by me on the highway one time. That was 7 years ago, haven't seen one since. I think Demuro said they are rarer than Enzos. Coolest mini-van out there
Seth here. Watching that was fun. The R63 was very much a part of the family when it was with me. I'm glad that Noah is having proper adventures with it. Looking forward to the rest of the videos.
Hey Seth, how much mechanical knowledge did you honestly have before undertaking the job? Alex says not much which would make what you did incredibly impressive.
@@TheOprostaj I had pulled two motors out the bottom of FWD cars to swap them. One head gasket? That was on an OHV engine so this was the first time I had pulled a cam. So many cams on the R63. Lots of brake/suspension/electrical stuff in my past. I've still never done a clutch. The Mercedes STAR Manual that you can get on disk is extremely comprehensive. Start at step 1, then step 2, assembly is the reverse. Take your time, torque properly, it's all just nuts and bolts.
I used to be a Mercedes Benz master tech years ago. Loved working on them, but I wouldn't be involved in ripping off customers so I opened my own shop. Now the dealership hates my guts. 😜
@@ScottSellsSoCal so? just because he worked at MB, doesn't mean he has to own a Mercedes. He most likely loves his Honda. You don't get to say what he gets to own. True car guys understand that
Good luck finding the sway bar bushings! I have an R63 and mine were bad the same way and I could not find any. I ended up swapping in a ML63 front sway bar which is like 26mm or something where the R63 was 23mm I think. Stock W215 chassis were stock with 17mm bars. Need to check the diameters you be sure but they are close per my memory. Also mine sounds waaaay smoother on total winter 20F cold starts. 135k miles and multiple black stone labs tests and it gets stellar marks from them on low metals and no silicates.
Love the videos as always, one thing I notice you rarely do, that we'd love to see, is a garage update, I recall seeing the Eco-vette being sold, but have no idea what else went, or how any of the other projects are doing, I'm sure the rest of the viewers would also love to know Keep it classy as always✌🏻
This is what i like abt ppl who do things once and do it right.. best of all saving on the cost cuz they diy-ed it themselves! my wife hsa a 2008 W221 with distronic+, works lovely until someone cuts across your bows, loud warning sounds in the cabin and heavy braking ensue, not always necessary i might add.
My brother has a 2019 outback with the CVT and it's amazing. Under normal driving it just sits at 2000-2500 rpm. As far as reliability he has taken it offroad a few times with temps staying normal
Pull a vacuum on the oil filler. No oil escapes until you turn off the vacuum source. I use this on my diesel truck and it makes changing oil and filter a no mess operation.
I'm not a professional mechanic just a serious do-it-yourselfer. I had a b class. They're great cars that got a terrible reputation because of the CVT transmission especially the electronics. Mine was manual transmission. Did the clutch myself which basically required the engine to come out either from the front after removing bumper and a bunch of stuff. Usually this is done by dropping the engine but I didn't have a hoist. Had to get most parts from Germany which was still much cheaper than from a Canadian Benz dealer. Quite challenging but well worth it. Sold it and the new owner is still very happy with it. No real point to this story other than fixing it at the dealer would have been more than the price of the vehicle.
Love your channel and great work that you do. Thank you hope you and the family stay safe in these hard times. Thank you for all your hard and great work.
Save even more money for bushing noise: Use RUST CHECK spray on all rubber components in the suspension. This product creeps into the tightest areas to lubricate, waterproof and preserve the rubber. It's a Canadian product (Rustolium is the parent company) I've been using it for over 20 years on my cars and have never had any noises from the suspension. Only about $12 a can.
Man I regret replacing our 15 year old R-350 with 2017 GLS-450. One year in the new GLS she still misses the R-class. In my opinion Few cars have a better driving position than the R-Class. Best highway cruiser ever.
12:10 I have the same exact noise on my 2002 Ford Fiesta. Those bushings tend to crack and harden, causing squeaky noises and also knocking noises because the stabilizer bar tend to move inside them. I have to replace those sooner or later, hopefully they are crazy cheap (like 5€ a pair).
I usually dont comment that much, but wow, just wow - I read that story from cover to cover few years back (it was just after it was finished). Same car? Just wow!
I had bad injectors on a W211 E63 that weren’t stuck open but the opposite. Easiest way to check for a bad injector is to get a multimeter and see if the resistance is above 15 ohms or so. Had a bad one at 25 kOhms so replaced them all; was causing a misfire too.
a little trick if you don´t have a new copperwasher get the old glowing red for a second with a little torch and chances are high that it seals again, but ofc a new will always be better.
Here’s a life hack. Get some PTFE tape and wrap it around the sway bar where the sway bar bushing goes. It tightens up the slop inside the bushing and decreases friction and binding through articulation.
Alex, I remember being passed by one of these, when they were still fairly new, on Algonquin near the Roselle Rd. Intersection heading SE near Harper College. Was it misdiagnosed though? While it staggers me that they quoted for a new engine they were right about the problem, which does certainly have the potential to bend a rod which (from memory, sorry if I got it wrong!) they pointed out was as possibility not a certainty(?), especially with the severity of symptoms in this case - all the cases I've read about (apart from one the local mercedes dealer here in NZ cited where a guy kept putting more water in til it hydro locked) people seem to be aware of the head bolt issue now, so pull over and check the oil for water the first time the low coolant warning comes up. Where Mercedes messed up was accidentally putting the decimal point in the wrong place lol - that's outrageous!! My brother had a bolt pop in his CL63 and he just fitted new head bolts one at a time, plus cam buckets (turns out his looked like new but he'd already bought 'em so in they went) in his back yard without removing the heads and it's is still purring like a kitten. It's disgusting that having CAUSED this problem with the worlds most stupidly designed bolt with too deep a socket in the head, Mercedes doesn't make their dealers rebuild engines at cost price. Nobody loses money, and nobody gets ROBBED. Shame on you, Benz! GREAT video, I'm loving this, if only they'd stop making that c-pillar on wagons I'd hunt me down a unicorn!! Thanks dude!!!
Have you looked at a professional Injector rebuild vs. replacement? There is an awesome shop in Colorado (Wheat Ridge, CO)I have used for a Mitsubishi, but it might be worth an call to see if he could do the Mercedes injectors.
Got a S55 amg at 86k miles because of you lol, had some details (a fuse blown on the sbc pump) and all works fine. My only concern is that my car don’t have the hydraulic suspension. It has regular shocks and coils but for some reason front left is sitting down and rear right is above normal. Any suggestions???
15:18 I just wanted to ask if the Mercedes computers shut down the injector after a couple of misfires in a row with a cylinder or within a short period of time until the problem with that cylinder misfire is corrected or the code is erased? I know BMW does this for preventative problems with the cylinder no longer getting fuel if the cylinder isn't igniting for what ever reason. I believe this is one of the reasons people complain about BMW lights coming on and there being a problem more often than some cars. But not realizing it is actually saving the engine from possible destruction if it were to leave the injector pumping fuel.
Hey I have A 2008 R350 and the dealer told me if they seized engine they want $13,000 for a new engine. I love this car it's so smooth and the views from the inside is amazing.
This problem with the head screws and the injectors, is that also a problem with the R-klasse 500 ? It only has around 380Hp but in basic it's the same engine I'm afraid :) So changing this is the advice?
Should be an interesting build, dyno and road speed test.Looking forward to it.Great hair commercial too, lol! I live in the Schaumburg Area.I own a 2008 E63 AMG with 550000 miles, stock. Do you to do work on Mercedes in your garage on the side or just do for RUclips videos only?

Found I had left the washer off once. Couldn't be bothered to drain the oil again so I just stuffed the vacuum cleaner hose into the oil filler and sealed it with a rag. Hey Alex, you inspired me to pick up an 04 e55 amg. There’s a few things wrong with it. Like the keyless start not working or the walk up unlock buttons on the handles and the panoramic sunroof. Could you please help or recommend any videos to help with these issues. Loves all your videos man. Keep up the great work. 🤙
you bought the E55 wagon from Fresno, right? I saw it on cragslist and was going back and forth - then it was posted on germancarsforsaleblog... I came really close to getting it
@LegitStreetCars So that rattle at starting I saw you said it was normal. My 2014 C63 507 does that every once in awhile. Mainly if I drove the car let it sit for 30min-hr when I start it I get that same sound. I have been told it's the cam adjuster. Thoughts? Do you know if not replacing them causes issues if making that noise? I bought the car almost a year ago and it's made that sound since but still has tons of power and drives great. That's the only issue so I was thinking maybe it's just cosmetic noise and causes no issues so just wanted a masters opinion. Thank you very much.
I have an E63 that does the same thing, all seems well other than a very short rattle at startup and quiet and buttery smooth after that. I've read that it's normal and changing the Cam Adjusters is only temporary and usually comes back over time after replacing them. I am curious if driving with the startup rattle will cause further damage.
If you like wagons you should look into the 87 Mercedes 300TD the only year the the w124 wagon was offered with a diesel in the US I bought one a few months ago and I absolutely love it it has an om603 3.0l turbo diesel engine the vacuum pump died and I believe they were about to scrap the care due to the catalytic converter being hacked off before I bought it I pretty much brought this car back from the grave would love to see you get one and possibly do some power mods to the om603 engine as far as I know they came in the 87 300TD and the 87 300SDL in the us
With a $30 oil pump you can change the oil from above in less than 10 minutes and just pump it out the dipstick hole. You won’t have to remove the plug or take off the slash plate.
Hey Legit also does the 08 mercedes Benz CLS 63 AMG have the M156 6.3 Liter V8 engine? I asked because I watched your video on that engine. And if you know which Mercedes Benz CLS didn’t have that engine maybe more reliable engine. Thanks again sir 👍🏿

Previous owner Seth must be quit a good engineer to be able to make those special tools & do such a good job on this amazing machine. My son in law bought an Audi A4 sport black edition for a few months, he has thankfully come back to the Mercedes fold with a C class AMG Line 2.5 Diesel.
I love this car! Especially about ten years ago it was so scary. Too bad nowadays it’s not that fast anymore it’s more like a collector item. Straight up unicorn! always will be
Honestly I found that owning a Merc after the middle of the 124 chassis was a pain in the butt, I still have W116 and 107 chassis cars and id consider a late W126 but unless its less than 5 years old im now driving Volvo's.
Hay Alex I have a w204 C300 and I have a knock in my front end but can’t find it when I put it on the lift (non drive on) and everything seem tight. Do I need to use a drive on lift to check my front end on my vehicle. A any tips would be greatly appreciate thanks
Cool vid. Almost bought one of these things a few years ago and then found out it needed a transmission control module which required pulling the entire motor and said no way Jose! Haha. 👍
Early on a Sunday morning I took my new 2012 E63 (with 2,500 miles on it) out to the NJ Turnpike and brought it up to 182 mph. The car was very smooth but it was still very scary. Everything out of the sides windows was blurry, the wind noise was loud as hell and the straightaway I was on was ending really quickly. The car had the performance package and a RENNtech tune so the 186 mph factory limit was removed. It was still pulling at 180 and I think I could’ve hit 200 mph if I had more road to work with.
Hey Alex, got the same problem of noise on the front end of my w211 e240. I actually use the jack trick but imposible to find the origin of the noise. The noise only occurs when driving on bumps or defects on the road. What could it be ?
What's the fastest you've ever gone and what kind of car was it in? Mine was my Turbo Trans Am at 150 MPH. On a legal road of course!

Came here a 2018 for the C63 and m156 videos.... and glad your doing more!
HELL YEA R63 AMG 🥰
This problem with the head screws and the injectors, is that also a problem with the R-klasse 500 ? It only has around 380Hp but in basic it's the same engine I'm afraid :)
So changing this is the advice?
Hi Alex, I have an airmatic e class, how do I stop the suspension dumping the air when up on a jack? Cheers buddy. Always enjoy your videos
Motor rattling like a rocks in a can... "This is good actually."
🤢🤢
What a Super wagon.... ❤️❤️❤️
I like your floor jack trick, definitely trying it on my Saturn suspension.
Hello Legit I’m looking at a Mercedes Benz CLS 550 what would you recommend for a device to read any issues with the vehicle for Mercedes Benz? Also what do you think about the FIXD device? I understand you get what you pay for I definitely do pre-purchased inspection on the CLS 550 do know of any common problems with the model engine it’s a 08 CLS 550 Mercedes Benz? Any information definitely would be helpful I truly respect your knowledge of the Mercedes Benz vehicles always enjoy your mods and work on the Mercedes Benz you own. Thanks 🙏
Found I had left the washer off once. Couldn't be bothered to drain the oil again so I just stuffed the vacuum cleaner hose into the oil filler and sealed it with a rag. Replaced the washer without spilling a drop.
Did the same thing again recently when I had to change the oil temp sensor on my e39 m5
306kph in a BMW m6 grancoupe, pulled 290kph in a c63 coupe 4.0 twin turbo. Many more 250kph runs in few others. We take chances here in South Africa...
Alex, did you see the injector issue on the M272 (non DI) as well? Im at 160k miles and thinking about doing the injectors. Thanks!
you bought the E55 wagon from Fresno, right?
That oil plug - finger cover the hole - swap bolt out move was fucking genius man.
100/100
If you like wagons you should look into the 87 Mercedes 300TD the only year the the w124 wagon was offered with a diesel in the US I bought one a few months ago and I absolutely love it it has an om603 3.0l turbo diesel engine the vacuum pump died and I believe they were about to scrap the care due to the catalytic converter being hacked off before I bought it I pretty much brought this car back from the grave would love to see you get one and possibly do some power mods to the om603 engine as far as I know they came in the 87 300TD and the 87 300SDL in the us
I'll post a video of the straight pipe sound here in a bit
With a $30 oil pump you can change the oil from above in less than 10 minutes and just pump it out the dipstick hole. You won’t have to remove the plug or take off the slash plate.
This is a rare sleeper!
A fun family vehicle!
Alex got a Question I see you as the Mercedes Guru see if you could help on a c230 2007 v6 , 110,000 miles got a p2088 code , changed magnets and sensors and magnet harness kit , still have code for bank one camshaft could it be computer or is time chain elongated, car runs supper smooth still, any idea, thanks
Sounds like a bag of spanners from cold.
My Honda is near silent. I had a w211 e270 as my last car. Nothing but trouble with it. Lovely drive though.
Previous owner Seth must be quit a good engineer to be able to make those special tools & do such a good job on this amazing machine. My son in law bought an Audi A4 sport black edition for a few months, he has thankfully come back to the Mercedes fold with a C class AMG Line 2.5 Diesel.
really good vids man i own a mercedes e200 w211 and the abs pump is going crazy can you possibly make a video on a solution?
I love this car! Especially about ten years ago it was so scary. Too bad nowadays it’s not that fast anymore it’s more like a collector item. Straight up unicorn! always will be
You could send the engine to Tasos in UAE for a rebuild and get it back for less than $57k. He's the best!
Sweet do they accept ship's from CANADA?
Awesome! I have a r500. I bet that things fast.

EARLY CONGRATS FOR 300K! i love your videos and they're very helpful:) KEEP IT UP!
Thanks brother!
It’s funny, I had the same sound on my e320 cdi and I just checked and it was the same thing! Sway bar bushing!
OMG i wandered what happened to this car! very excited to see More R63 AMG Content !!!!!!! Thanks
Cool vid. Almost bought one of these things a few years ago and then found out it needed a transmission control module which required pulling the entire motor and said no way Jose! Haha. 👍
I have the nicest distronic the really first first gen in my 02 w220
Early on a Sunday morning I took my new 2012 E63 (with 2,500 miles on it) out to the NJ Turnpike and brought it up to 182 mph. The car was very smooth but it was still very scary. Everything out of the sides windows was blurry, the wind noise was loud as hell and the straightaway I was on was ending really quickly. The car had the performance package and a RENNtech tune so the 186 mph factory limit was removed. It was still pulling at 180 and I think I could’ve hit 200 mph if I had more road to work with.
Honesty crazy that adaptive cruise came out in 1998 with the W220 (in Europe.)
Hey Alex, got the same problem of noise on the front end of my w211 e240. I actually use the jack trick but imposible to find the origin of the noise. The noise only occurs when driving on bumps or defects on the road. What could it be ?
It’s probably sway bar bushings and or links. I had the same issue. I bought the rebuild kit from fcpeuro and it fixed it
Legit street cars is a mechanical genius
I dont use a washer. it never leaked from factory without a washer. why would it after an oil change?
