Speaker in the hood you will find on some security vehicles so you can talk to the outside without getting out. It's standard on all German armored vehicles. Anti-ambush and theft accessory.
This channel always reminds me to never buy a Mercedes lol but I do love this channel, watching when they’re repaired by knowledgeable people and share their experiences.
11:34 I think the "weird key" is the second key with the main key being chrome and more "normal looking". My '06 E350 came with that setup with both fully functional so the Gelandewagen probably came with the same pairing.
That is too much snow for me, I'm in NC and we haven't had snow last year or this year (my area) as of yet and I don't think we will. Love your channel Alex, keep those videos rolling bro...
AMG kompressor engines and the M156 are the best engines ever made, change my mind. The fact that that thing had a whole piston gone and a bunch of other issues and still ran proves that.
@@rxtuninginc8444 like what? Because those engines “actually run all the time”. Let’s hear what engines you think are so much better. And if you say LS or a Honda engine I’m literally gonna smack you

@@rxtuninginc8444 you seriously talk about engines attached to rolling heaps while you talk about Jeeps and old Buick’s, of which 99% have either rusted into the ground or death wobbled themselves to pieces because they can’t go more than 50mph on the highway? Funny how the cops are lurking close by now that the vehicle is on the property, would not surprise me if that vehicle fails a test for traces of Unicorn dust.
Someone probably told you by now, the speaker under the hood should be connected to the CB radio next to the seat. Most CB radio's have a PA switch to talk to people without getting out of the vehicle.
I bought an old 92 Toyota 4Runner brought up from Texas. Rust free, but had some missing parts and odd modifications including a siren and the remains of wiring and switches for emergency/aux lights. Think I replaced the whole center console with a an unmodified uncut one from a salvage yard. Was a nice solid old 4Runner.
The things that some people think look good and spend money on is beyond me. I also don't understand all the cheap work done to exhaust and other stuff on such an expensive vehicle.
I would bet that speaker was originally hooked to the PA system in that CB radio. The previous owner was in his 60's, I would guess. Smokey and the bandit influence.
crazy video idea: since they swap the supercharger with a bigger one, you could try and use their old supercharger on the ML55 and make some videos about it
Unplugged secondary o2 is to avoid setting off a CEL for catalyst efficiency. Early OBD2 systems didnt care if it was straight open air because it meant the ecu thinks its super clean fumes. Only the O2 after the header mattered. My guess is a faulty Cat was replaced with test pipe to pass emissions.
About the speaker: Way in the late '80s, early '90s, when my cousin bought his dad old car, he put in a CB radio in the car AND he put a speaker in the engine bay, as he could use the CB radio to talk thru the speaker. I guess it's funny when you do it the first couple of times, but yeah. So, that's most likely why there was a speaker in this engine bay.
From what i know California and Arizona does this when they have a sound system. They put speakers outside the car so it sounds louder I’ve done this and it works and I’ve seen a lot of other people do that too.
Am I the only one who remembers dropping those 5 cylinder diesels in these? We could get it done in 4 hours with no power tools and the OM617 was considered the most powerful motor on the market! I'm guessing your build will be a little harder with the motor you want to drop in!
Lol, we see those speakers in the engine compartment or mounted underneath in the south. Its hooked up to a receiver to talk to folks outside of your car on a mic.
I drive a 94 Legacy 4wd 2.2na wagon and it already has a tendency to shake a bit at idle with the old flat 4 but the front drivers cylinder has 110 psi and the rear drivers has 65 psi, so it sounds like a Harley and kinda shakes like one too 😂 way past 200k miles though and it's my daily. Probably the most or 2nd most reliable engine I've had. That being said, the dead cylinder really gives it some character lol. Thankfully it doesn't chug oil
I had a customer with a diesel G waggon low miles clutch was slipping when i loosened the bell housing they are sealed to keep water out i was suprised to be showered with Diesel, turned out he kept a hand pump for filling the tank from a drum in the engine bulkhead where it leaked down into the bellhousing through timing window thats why it was slipping.
The could of welded bungs in the exhausts for the O2 sensors to fit/ connect /read and work ,and I think that caused the engine to run lean and break because they are disconnected
That snow is awesome! I miss big snows, 20+". Big here is 6-8". It sure gets cold, though. Checked the record low for today it's -27 degrees F. Greetings from N.D.
Thanks for the content Alex, I could really use that used supercharger. I have an 03 E55 that the previous owner somehow bent the supercharger clutch hub assembly and its out of round.

The Dutch police still uses the G-wagon actually, although it won't be an AMG. About 50 years ago the Porsche 911 was used by the highway police, but that became too costly.

Maybe that's what they were going for
I'm married too!!
@Perry Elyod ISTR those being wired up :-D
But @samcrac legit doesn't have step mom to talk thru his engine speaker to make engine noises for him.

Crazy how good the car sounds at start
This G definitely suffered from, "baller on a budget" syndrome. I'm a huge believer in if you can't afford it, don't buy it.
They rebuilt the engine twice and reupholstered the interior at considerable cost. Not baller on a budget.
@@monunyabidness5949 based on the quality of the work... Budget. If you spend the money to do it right, you only rebuild it once.
