Better late than never 😅 Shoutout to Hendryk for a great match, and make sure you keep watching til the end for a bonus accuracy test where Jenny was VERY accurate 😲
I would love to know what difference a cheap fake racket for 20 bucks makes compared to the original with the same strings and string tensions. I think that is necessary to properly compare the rackets otherwise the cheap strings will perform much worse or at least very differently because you are not used to it. I recently bought 4 fake Arcsaber 11 for 15 dollars each and I cannot tell the difference. For me as an intermediate player the strings make a way bigger difference than a racket could ever. So if you guys plan on doing something similar again, I would love to see what differences you can make out when you play with a cheap vs expensive racket but with the same strings.
@@manuel4964 Cheap/Fake vs Ori High End -Materials: the Cheap ones won't hold its frame shape if you put high Tension on it (29-30+) They would simply either bend, crack or Snap. -The Feel: usualy High End Racket had more riggid Frame and Shaft, thus make it hard to bend/Flex... but much easier for control and accuracy purposes
As a true amateur myself this video was so much fun! It's so cool to see the differences when an amateur plays against a pro: the deception from having no backswing, the power and speed in the strokes and the explosivity in the movement. Very motivating to train these parts myself 💪
Congratulations on winning the Irish Open! You've come a long way and genuinely deserve where you are right now! More opportunities for you guys! Thank you for the video (Compelling 1000-dollar racket lol)!
I was really surprised at how the rackets leveled the playing field between an amateur and a professional. I honestly didn't think it was going to make that much of a difference. Great video!
Not to be a spoil sport, but this video seemed very clearly to be sponsored so they wanted you to see that the more expensive rackets are nicer haha. This definitely wasn't a scientific test, and I truly wonder if an amateur came that close to beating a professional player just because of a racket? (or perhaps was there in fact some staging? lol)
Really I suppose the big difference is that a using a higher quality racket dramatically improves a players consistency, where especially at a higher level placing shots accurately and returning them with minimal effort is critical.
@@slamer2000 ive played for over 11 years now. There is a noticable difference using the budget racquets. Ignoring the Victor sponsorship, mid range and expensive racquets will do the job serious players need. You just need to find the flex and weight distribution you prefer for your chosen dicipline (singles, doubles).
Congrats on your win in Ireland! It would be interesting to see you test a racket costing around £30-35. That seems to be the minimum spend where, instead of just toys like that $10 racket, you start to find lightweight, full-graphite rackets, that can be strung to a decent tension, and on paper at least, have similar specs to the more expensive models - so we'd see what difference all the fancy materials and technology really make!
@@cycleinthesun A friend bought 2 copies of an expensive Yonex racket in China; one was OK, the other had an asymmetrical balance. Both were very light though, unlike a cheap school aluminium racket. You could tell they were not the real deal as there was too much sideways flex. I also expect they would not take stringing to e.g. 13Kg.
Very entertaining and I'm lucky enough to play with a $200 raquet. Sadly, at my age, I only have $5 knees. This leaves a very noticeable $195 deficit when I walk on court.😉😁😁
First of all congratulations on the Irish Open win. As someone who has played badminton for almost 18 years, starting as a junior in my club just for fun, now competing and coaching. Also have worked selling badminton equipment I agree with the premise. A 10€ or dollar racket is for playing outside with family in my opinion and the more expensive ones do have benefits. Although I think that most players especially beginners, intermediate players, and juniors tend to choose rackets that are too high level for them in terms of their physique or technique (skill). Same with strings and tension. Or too thin grips. There isn't that much research in badminton concerning the subject but in tennis, they have found that many (juniors especially) who play with too stiff rackets, strings and tensions which tend to create problems in the future, like tennis elbow, compromised technique and so on. From what I have seen this does seem to be the case in badminton too, and I won't lie I have been guilty of it too. People seem to forget that professional players train so much and have done so for so long that their bodies can take a different kind of abuse and do things differently than us lower-level players. I would imagine you for example have had thousands of repetitions of for example the net kill or drive with a coach correcting the mistakes away. Which makes it so that even if you are using a higher tension, stiffer racket and smaller grip you are able to squeeze and then relaxe your grip without causing problems. While for many it could cause pain (not just soreness) in the forearm not because it is a bad excersice or technique but because the equipment doesn't help (having a thin grip and high tension) or the technique isn't correct in the first place. You can't see what you are doing when you are training and our awareness isn't always the best. I at least have found that many times I think I'm doing something like it should be, but when watching video of myself to find it isn't even close. Or having a coach tell me that.😅
I managed to get a refurbish TK F Enhanced Edition (from a reputable badminton shop so it's not fake) just like in the video for less than 100 USD here in Vietnam. I don't need to tell you how happy I am with the purchase. Unbelievable deal for one of the best racket in the market.
Best is to do some research by watching videos like this and join some badminton friends to try out their rackets to see if its suitable for your playing style. Rackets are too 'personalised' that the best player's racket might not feel right in our hands. Gotta try lots of rackets and narrow down the ones which you can play with a slight advantage.
Very nice video, but I would have honestly loved to see a comparison between a $30-60 rackets (amateur/intermediate) VS the ones above $100 (max being $200), for Advanced players. And not a one b/w $10 props VS pros.
Reality is that even with a $50 racket, Greg would trounce an amateur. There's a huge difference in training/skills/conditioning etc. This is their full time job compared to someone that enjoys it as a hobby. Reality is this, a good racket helps and the right racket can make a world of difference. At the same time there are plenty of other variables that an intermediate player needs to consider. Are they fit enough? Do they practice enough? Do they have the right shoes (most important)? Do they work on their shots? Do they take coaching or analyse their game? There's a lot to it. But I certainly feel that less about the price point, but is the racket style/build suitable for the player?
Racket's really do work around one's skill, nice video. I also have a suggestion, could you guys make a tutorial on how to do a defensive dive upon a smash in singles, as well as the 180 looking half split upon defending a smash in singles as well? Keep up the great work!
This is a great informative vid for ppl to understand that racket sud be properly researched n not buy the most expensive or the cheapest. Great fun vid as usual. Loved it.
This was super interesting! Would be cool to see a cheap racket with better strings and compare the difference -- how much does changing the strings really help?
From personal experience, it makes a huge difference but as said in the vid, it won’t take the same tension as something higher end. The cheapest racket I’ve strung was the yonex voltaic lite, around $50, and it can take max 24 lb, could probably take 25 but it already started warping a bit at 24. I can’t image a $10 racket taking anything above 21 lb. And with the price of string and labor(probably not stringing yourself if u got a $10 racket), you might as well just buy something better.
OMG! THANK YOU FOR THIS!!! It never crossed my mind to make a research before buying a $100 racket 2 days ago. As much as I would love to buy the $200.00 one, I thought that it can be too expensive for me because of my skill level. I am excited to use my new racket tomorrow and see how would I perform in the next upcoming days adjusting from the $10.00 racket ones to my new baby. Once again, thank you!
Nice video. I believe a good racket that complements your play can give you confidence in playing the shot you want without you having to compensate. Loved the little tennis-grunt with the 1000 dollar one.
Interesting video. I watched a similar type of video of video comparing a dirt-cheap tennis racquet to a top professional one. In that case, whilst the expensive one was obviously better, the cheap one fared pretty well and in several aspects was actually more appropriate for a beginner or casual player. My badminton racquet would be roughly in the $100 range and I really notice the difference when my strings snap and I have to use my one of my spare (cheaper) ones.
Well Done on your Irish open win, dedication paying off. Useful to see the difference between the racquets, shows the importance of getting the right equipment whatever the price. I have only just changed from a 20yr old Yonex Carbonex 20, took a while to get used to the newer isometric shape on the Duora 99.
I think the one think should consider is the materials, I own similar price range of racket, one is metal, one is compound from ages ago and one is the 88S pro. I only an amateur player but the difference to the net play and controlling are massive
Another great video and good advice about trying a few rackets and just picking the one that suits you best. And as you've said so well before, same for the type of strings & tension.
This is in my opinion the best badminton channel on RUclips, and this vid looks like it was a lot of fun to make BUT I can't help but say that early on I had a feeling this video was going to be a sponsored video, guiding us to wanting to buy the expensive rackets haha. Due to the ...not-so-scientific/fair tests lol
Yeah it was a lot of fun! As we said in the video, it depends on what level of player you are as to what we'd recommend to buy... Mid-range rackets are generally better suited for lower intermediate players!
I have never trusted on any badminton youtuber who makes video of experience of them but I trust on you ❤❤ If there is any problem in my english I am sorry for that I don't know english very well🙏
I started playing, I thought I need an expensive racquet so I paid like $150. More I played I realised I don't actually need but just $100. More I played I realised I can squeeze that down to like $40-50 and get what I need. You need torsion stiffness for sure, need to check the T doesn't twist, and you need enough quality that it can take enough kilos for the string. But apart from that it's more about just if the parameters are right for you. For power u need head heavy, for speed you need head light. Anything else just seems to make zero difference, and having checked these parameters I know already I will also like the feel of the racquet.
Enjoyed this video so much, maybe one of the best even if just for the last scene where Greg lost and smashed the shuttley down 🙂 Love you guys! PS: I am not a pro, but play with a 200$ racket, as well - it makes a lot of a difference (even to a 100$ racket), when you play at your best condition - not so much where it is not your day on that day for some reason, or some other reasons 😅
LOL... I mean there are obvious technical advantages between the 200 dollar racket and the 10 dollar racket, but just between you and me, I'm sure you were being very kind to Hendryk in the second set...🤣🤣🤣. Great video guys...
For most, a mid-range racket with good string at optimum tension is adequate. Many believe that a high end racket would dramatically improve their game; Alas! That's not the case. You have shown a good comparison.
Great video, thanks for sharing. "You get what you pay for" is not always true in the case of badminton gear. I have seen lots of amateur spending hundreds of $ on top-end Astrox rackets-But does not do them any good-in fact does more damage as they are not able to handle the stiffness of the shaft and string tension. While I agree that the difference is huge between a 10$ racket and a 200$ one-but not that much between a 50$ racket from an inferior brand and 200$ racket from a top brand. At least for club players, they both will feel the same!
I agree. There are a lot of comments here saying that they knew they were right to purchase the most expensive racket as it makes a huge difference, but they didn't understand the real message. The actual difference in their comparison here, is the materials used for the $10 racket, which is going to be all metal, heavy and unable to hold a tension above, say 18lbs. This type of racket is more intended for those fun knock around activities in the garden. However, as Jenny and Greg advises in their video, for beginner/lower intermediate players, it's recommended to get a mid range racket
Thanks for sharing. Cos I'm considering playing badminton recreationally as an alternative to Table Tennis, where racket and rubber costs are going crazy.
Hey, Greg or Jenny, always loved watching your videos coz I do not have a coach or trainer. I learn a lot from your videos. Love it ❤One thing though, I am from India and if I order something from TRME sports, how much will the shipping cost for me??
The best moment of this! When Jenny threw away the $10 racket and that facial expression. Also, congratulations are in order. 250k officially❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Go stronger, grow bigger. Much love.
Tried $200 racket vs around $80... as an amateur 1 of the advantages from the $200 that I feel is during drive or flat shots, so much easier, spot on, less sloppy so it feels faster
Did both rackets have the same balance? If not the comparison is useless. For the shots you mentioned a balanced/head-light racket will always be faster than a head heavy racket no matter the price
@Florian M if you have tried a lot you'll notice the balance isn't everything. Stiffness also plays a part.... that's why you'll see some rackets didn't mention balance But in the specific one I tried it's both head heavy
Ha, nice video, as always 😁 how much of the bad racket is actually the bad racket and how much is it you as Pro players being used to completely different flex, string tension etc.? E. g. if you played daily for 1 week with the bad racket, you would probably get used to it to some extent and beat Hendryk with a greater margin again? 🙂
Very nice video, I guess the video gives us amateurs confidence that our win chance against a pro player increases when they use a lower price pointed racket hahaha. Would it be an idea to do a similar test with the shuttles? Like a test with nylons, low budget feathers and high budget feathers?
I like the video. But personally I feel it doesn't mean cheap things are poor in quality or performance. Its the material, design, string tension, string material etc that matters, not the cost.
Congrats in Ireland also you've settled an age long debate I feel I have with alot of my friends. Buying a £100 badminton won't necessarily make me better but it's a start, as I improve the racket will help towards that! Thank you.

I am not a pro, but play with a 200$ racket, as well - it makes a lot of a difference (even to a 100$ racket), when you play at your best condition - not so much where it is not your day on that day for some reason, or some other reasons 😅
Ah thanks 😀😀
Still enjoying when I rewatch the celebration of Greg after the win in Ireland
🙈🙈
But i'd like to ask which strings are the best Greg, so can u pls make a vid btw im subscribed!!
Great vid! Could you have strung all rackets at say 24lbs to remove that variable? Part 2 😉
Thanks 😀 Yes maybe 👀 As we mentioned string does play a huge part too!
wow this is cool content. love your spirit, pals. and thank you for the review.
Glad you enjoyed it!! :-)
When I heard about 1000$ racquet I definitely didn't imagined that 🤣🤣
😂😂
Ah so that's where Mario Party came from 😂
LOL... I mean there are obvious technical advantages between the 200 dollar racket and the 10 dollar racket, but just between you and me, I'm sure you were being very kind to Hendryk in the second set...🤣🤣🤣. Great video guys...
Fun video!
Is a proper shoes VS sandals video coming next?! 😆
Too much risk of injury
I like your all videos but most liked video is backhand clear love from India 🇮🇳
I'd like to see a rematch where Greg uses a $1000 vs $200 racket!
😂
For most, a mid-range racket with good string at optimum tension is adequate. Many believe that a high end racket would dramatically improve their game; Alas! That's not the case. You have shown a good comparison.
It sure isn’t the case! Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Wow I learn a lot from this video
6:51 Jenny with makeup? :O Did you guys go there for some sort of shoot?
Haha yes good spot James! And yes we went for a photoshoot for next seasons products 😀
Love your videos
Thanks 😀😀
Love you guys :)) i am always your videos
Hey, Greg or Jenny, always loved watching your videos coz I do not have a coach or trainer. I learn a lot from your videos. Love it ❤One thing though, I am from India and if I order something from TRME sports, how much will the shipping cost for me??
Back to badminton 💪🏻😍
Haha, back to the videos now 😜
Just wondering, were the strings and their tension the same on both rackets? That could affect the results
The best moment of this!
When Jenny threw away the $10 racket and that facial expression.
Also, congratulations are in order. 250k officially❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Go stronger, grow bigger. Much love.
Haha thank you so much Pranav 🤗
@@BadmintonInsight ♥️♥️♥️♥️
The 10$ racket is decent if you are starting the Sport.
Stiffness also plays a part.... that's why you'll see some rackets didn't mention balance
But in the specific one I tried it's both head heavy
🤩😅💪🏻 2 shots Jenny!! well done!!👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎
Haha thanks Andreas!
Thanks Jettro! And thanks for the suggestion, we'll add it to our list! 😃
My takeaway as a low-level amateur: "I need a more expensive racquet" haha. Loved this video.
Good win congratulations. ❤
amazing video
Thanks! 😃
Where can I get a giant badminton racket? 🤩 It's just amazing. I've seen photos but never in RL. 🙏
The $1000 racket was a surprise 😂
Congratulations on the tournament win! However I don't think Anders Rasmussen needs to worry about being out-celebrated... yet! 🎉🎉🎉
Haha thanks! We'll work on it 😜
It's the user that makes the difference as well, and of course the tension and type of string being used.
Yes definitely!
I like the video.
But personally I feel it doesn't mean cheap things are poor in quality or performance.
Its the material, design, string tension, string material etc that matters, not the cost.
I play badminton to and the 200 dollar racket sounds so good i love the sound it makes
Such a fun video. Where did you even get that $1000 racquet 😂.
Haha thanks Kai 😃
in your speedtest whats your technique for getting shuttles out of your hand so quickly? that was real quick!
Interesting Video again. I would like to see how you grip your Racket Greg. I want to use Towelgrip too. Can you show that in your next Videos?
Congrats in Ireland also you've settled an age long debate I feel I have with alot of my friends. Buying a £100 badminton won't necessarily make me better but it's a start, as I improve the racket will help towards that! Thank you.
Hello pls can you make videos about string, all top brand waiting for that ❤️🔥🔥
Hi should I use a yonex NANOFLARE OO1 feel racquet its long and the racquet head is bugger than the other one while my apacs racquet commander 3D suits my weight its better for smashing and the racquet head is smaller a little bit which one should I use?
How does the victor thruster f compare to the yonex astrox 100zz (both in 4u) I'm thinking of switching but have no way of testing, also congrats on the Irish open win👍
