There is nothing...and I mean NOTHING in life that is sweeter to watch than someone that has mastered a craft. The hallmark is that they make it look easy/effortless. That is the seduction....AND the deception! Seductive because you can't help but fall in love with the sound and the hand movement. Deceptive because you'll spend a good portion of your life chasing it. Make no mistake....this dude is in the zone and he has my respect and admiration because I can only imagine the years he has spent practicing to attain his level of expertise! Respect....nothing but respect man. I'm begging you...PLEASE...PLEASE keep posting!
His right hand is like a set of brushes on a snare drum. Love the Guild Artist Award guitar (think that's the model) and his harmonic approaches are mini lessons within general song overview. His You Tube online "lessons" are responses to Jazz Guitar online forum questions from other musicians.
yeah and unless you grew up in the Marsalis house and played funk gigs from the time you were 10 years old and had classical lessons from age 5 and a dad who could play and taught AND you love the music enough to spend 4-6 hours per day for several years practicing SMART. you wont get there. no way
This is the best 3 day master class demonstrated in 10 minutes I've ever seen. I've watched it 7 times already and I learn a little more each time. It's amazing to get this level of instruction on a free platform.
For real. I don't know where he disappeared to, but if you have a working knowledge of chords and basic theory and don't mind using the rewind function (a lot) you can glean a wealth of knowledge from his videos. Hey Reg523! Come back to your audience, man!
Let me say, this is much more than a few ideas to play the blues , this is something to watch millions of times , and enjoy , your harmonic knowledge , and especially your wonderful understanding of rhythm, you are amazing, great swing. Thanks
That this guy doesn't even reveal his name is the ultimate in true modesty and complete selflessness. His playing is incredible. This is one of those videos that you just say, "I might as well just hang it up, I'll never be anywhere near this good and most people think I'm really good." Either that or suck it up and try and get better. But, it's worth repeating, this guy is great!
Hi, now here's a guy with total class who can really play. This is the perfect example of what I have said before, here is a master class player showing you how to really play the guitar. Great stuff. We need more guys like this. All class and ability. Thanks for this great lesson.
This guy is a maestro and it's for advanced players BTW. When you learn jazz, you must master the chords and scales. But most importantly, learn to really listen with your ears so you can eventually transcend book stuff and play the right scales over any chord progression because you simply know it fits perfect. That's when you know you're good.
I just love Reg's sessions, absolutely the best! Ok, sure, I have to rewind and go, "what the..... was that again,,,"? But each time I come back to it and work at it, I get a little something more out of it. If you're freaked out trying to follow along, my advice, push it... Work a little harder... You'll be all the better for it! Ten Thumbs up Reg!
Absolutely Ken .so good to come back . My first comment is above : 5 YEARS ago yet .....and the shock is still there and increase according to my own progression and feeling in that way . I could paraphrase the song " The More I see you " with "The More you see and listen Greg and the More you are close to your dreams on guitar .
Yo, this guy is a MONSTER!!! I came from heavy metal and embraced jazz 12 months ago. Yes, I do have to rewind a number of times, theory is just basic here, just got started in modes... Anyway, just wanted to share that this video reassured my desire to develop in jazz. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
Wow! This is wildly exceeded expectations and could be just what I was looking for. Subscribed and looking forward to exploring the video library. Thanks for the inspiration!
If it's too fast you can listen to the lick or voicings in question, rewind it, and then slow down the video. Give yourself the opportunity to catch up because this man is dropping some seriously good and authentic knowledge!
Hello from France, Well done !!! so rythmic,mélodic, harmonic ,ALL IN ONE BLUE and very enjoying rendition .Thanks for this beautiful and useful present .I'm going to work on it .Your ideas and analysis are precious.Best wishes for you .
i slowed this down in settings and it helps alot but still damn fast but some very useful and brilliant ideas opened up. Thanks Reg, will be following what else you have.
I'm so impressed. U have a very understandable approach. Even as fast as you are playing. I'm def. gonna apply some of these concepts. Thank u for sharing.
Love it. You are one of my guitar/music heros like Lenny Breau,Ted Greene, Tim Lerch. So dynamic, such flow so effortless and a god send guitar tone! :) Hurray!
Reg is brilliant, yes he just gives you a quick masterclass of ideas, TBH some of em just drone on and on, what I like about Reg is he's straight to the point. theres always the stop button
I've been playing the guitar for 50 years and am a alumni of Berklee College of Music. ('80) This guy is a wonderful player, a jazz artist, and a repository of knowledge and a hero on top of all that for sharing his expertise. Yep. He talks fast and plays faster. He's trying to fully demonstrate (single note) substitution ideas for soloing. That means covering a lot of notes quickly if you're trying to squeeze it into a short RUclips video. He does a great job. Good thing the zero commenting below never sat down with so many of the great mid-century legends many of whom talked and often played exactly like this guy does.
hey my friend im from brazil living in new jersey you ar the best player voicings jazz blues im see in my life thanks for a lot tips loved pace and health
The thing to do is practicing with the general idea of this master class by ear without trying to copie... So groovy we just want to play with the same spirit!
Right....I was looking at another video of his a few minutes ago. It's about the 5th time in 2 years and I'm just now figured out what concept he's teaching....Hahahaaaa
I just saw your vid,.. I like this and would love to play like you! After 10yrs of jazz practice I am getting close. However it take me hrs of practice to get a tune down the way I want it
Dude, I just love listening to your instructional demos. None of the stuff you do ever sounds like an exercise............EVERYTHING ALWAYS SOUNDS MUSICAL. Tasty as hell man. A pleasure to hear. You have any CDs out or what?????????????

You sound just like Raymond Reddington. Also you are on point in the words you say. This guy is awesome.
yeah and unless you grew up in the Marsalis house and played funk gigs from the time you were 10 years old and had classical lessons from age 5 and a dad who could play and taught AND you love the music enough to spend 4-6 hours per day for several years practicing SMART. you wont get there. no way
I love how you never know when he's gonna burst some crazy fast lines in the middle of sentences etc. Never gets old. These lessons are pure gold.
IDigFusion calling that a lesson is misleading
@@rrdwiki lol you just suck at guitar and are salty that this goes over your head
rrdwiki What else it is? Come back in a year or two and see how you feel about it.
@@rrdwiki You're right, it's more of a master class.

At the very beginning he's comping all over neck..it was really fast..couldn't follow..if anybody has those voicings I would appreciate them..thanks
You're an absolute bloody monster Reg, pleasure watching you rip.
Let me say, this is much more than a few ideas to play the blues , this is something to watch millions of times , and enjoy , your harmonic knowledge , and especially your wonderful understanding of rhythm, you are amazing, great swing. Thanks
This is the most exciting driving guitar playing I have ever heard on blues or any thing else

Exactly .Greg is a peak of energy through music at its best .1000 IDEAS per sec. while the great majority share
1 IDEA .....per month .
At 4:07 to like 4:20 is like the coolest cluster of spastic and yet so melodic of notes
I know, that's one hell of a lick he had going there.
