I think America just doesn't have it anymore to make great planes ! It's over. Ever since Finance MBAs ran Boeing, rather than engineers , it was over for Boeing.
I don't think this pessimism is warranted - the US government can't let Boeing fail, anyway Their order books are still filled high, and the 737 max and 787 are selling well
Yall love to hate on Boeing like the 787 and 777 alone aren't engineering marvels. Not to mention, Boeing has a backlog of 6000+ orders. I think the market and customers still very much like their planes lmao
If Airbus bring an A380Neo to the table it's all over for Boeing. The A380 is the best aircraft I have ever flown on and that includes the Airbus A359.
@@thehighlander959 Airbus never made a profit from the A380. And anyways, only Emirates is currently interested in an A380neo and they were also the "saviour" of the a380 ordering 123 a380s out of 251 which made up 49% of the a380s order book. The a380 is a great plane but in this day and age, there isn't really a market for the plane. Yeah, and also, the a380neo would probably cost airbus billions and billions of dollars as they have to reinstate production lines, supply chains would have to also be reinstated. So it would probably mean good news for boeing instead of airbus.
Well, the problem was that you need to fill it up completely to make profit with it. What has proven to be difficult. So as much as I love this plane I don't think that there will be a reactivation in near future. But let's see how flying looks in 30 years or so. Maybe we will see a sucessor to those mighty jumbo planes.
I hope when it enters service there are no scandals because this is bigger than the 737 MAX A further delay after 2025 could see significant deferral of orders
If Boring do delay the cripple-7 again then the airlines that have ordered them will not be so forgiving. Airbus are already working with RR on A350neo, and wouldn’t surprise me if the stretch it further. Funny how people are saying “give them a break” a lot were killing the A380 for the delays - but at least the 380 was truly ground breaking. Personally after 787 & 7M8 issues, I’m happier travelling on Airbus and actively choose my airline by what they fly.
When flying into Paine Field on Alaska Airlines there was nothing more impressive than seeing 12 or more of these parked nose to tail and then imagining the value of all that sitting there before me.
I'm thinking, it's just an untimely delay. This is another one of those terrible headaches. They will get it straightened out, and hopefully it won't take too much longer.
Boeing’s MCAS scandal with their 737 Max has forced the FAA to be more hands-on with certification of any airplane and not grant Boeing employees the power to self-certify their own airplanes. I understand that new airplanes are desperately needed by airlines but if you’re gonna spend $100+ million on new airplanes then it better be safe to fly. Imagine taking possession of a brand new multi-million dollar airplane and flying your customers around in it only for it to abort flight in an emergency landing or crash. That would be an expensive write-off for the airliners and an expensive lawsuit from the families of the fatalities of that airplane.
@alfaeco15 totally ignorant statement. Boeing aircraft have been operating for multiple decades now. Just because of the 737 max fuck up doesn't mean other tried and tested boeing aircraft are unsafe to fly.
@@mikerodgers7535 Allow me to disagree with you. The problem was not just a single type of airplane, but the whole culture that allowed it to happen. And that affects all Boeing airplane types.
@@alfaeco15 I don't wish to contest the cause of the Max crashes, but I do believe it is foolish to group Boeing aircraft that have operated safely, and proven their ability to do so for years, into the same category as the Max. By choosing not to fly on any Boeing aircraft, you are going against a proven track record forged by decades of flight time. By extension, you are also limiting your flight options and increasing ticket fares for yourself! It's really just my opinion, but I think it's not a logical choice to make.
To be honest we should all give Boeing a break. They have really turned things around since the 737 Max fiasco. Management shakeups have resulted in more competent. The pandemic also has caused a lot of supply chain issues that were honestly out of Boeings control. The increased scrutiny also didn’t help where every small setback at Boeing is blown out of proportion and pushes them back. And with that and opening new factories in both Charleston for the 787 and in Europe for cargo conversions Boeing has been on the move. As with any revolutionary aircraft it takes time to iron out the kinks and it’s better to be safe than sorry. Boeing is still the market leader in innovation especially in automation in digital manufacturing they just need some time to streamline and to again realize efficiencies that were disrupted due to the Max fiasco. Airbus might be gaining in the short term but the 777x is looking to be a great success and the 737 orders are also pouring in. While Airbus burdens itself with more than it can chew at the moment both companies aren’t looking for new aircraft but I think this lag should allow Boeing to look inside and reshape the company for future growth. We should be bullish and help build confidence in Boeing so that the leadership stays optimistic on being market leaders and competing with Airbus.
The potential market for the B777-9 is not going to be large as the market is shifting towards the B787 and A350 variants who can provide both 'spoke & hub' and direct 'point to point short to ultra long haul operations plus the B787 and A350 are clean sheet airframe designs, already have operational histories and cheaper to buy compared to the B777-9. I wouldn't be surprised that the B777-9 will not cover its developmental costs like what happened to the A380.
There are a lot of problems within the Boeing company as a whole (all very well documented out there in the electronic ether) and they seem to be struggling to get any of their newer programs on track (the Pegasus tanker being a prime example). I'll admit that I root for Airbus but it is such a shame to see what has happened to a great name in the aviation industry. Maybe all the other acquisitions that they made over the years now make it too unwieldy and lacking focus, I don't know. Could they really survive another crisis and the penalties that involves?
Doesn't sound like they have learned their lessons from the max. Over engineered. Adding solutions to problems instead of creating a great architecture up front etc.
This is all very old news and most delays are GE Engines. 777x will be going to Emirates this year to start Airline route testing. 777x will be certified and will be the most advanced and fuel efficient wide body available and every long haul carrier will be on board.
Question. If those folding wingtips were to unlock while airborne, it should not pose any safety risks right? Those wingtips would just become big winglets for the 777x. The airplane wouldn’t lose any lift from that happening…I think.
Its just ridiculous. Boing needs to stop over promising everyone that what they can not uphold. They are too overly ambitious and are always looking for a knock out blow against Air Bus. What they should be focusing on is keeping their promises and deadlines and selling better products.
