That’s sad considering JJ McCullough clearly showed almost no real knowledge of Canadian politics. For instance he didn’t really seem to understand how the parties ‘choose’ their party leader. The leaders can’t just ‘basically hold onto that job as long as they want’. The party has every ability to vote them out as leader. It’s almost as if he’s completely ignoring the fact that a losing party’s leader is still almost always an elected member of the house. It’s not like a U.S. president where if they lose pres election they aren’t in gov at all. Singh, Otoole, and Scheer might not be prime minister but they are still elected by the Canadian people to the House of Commons . Think of it more how Mitch McConnell is still minority senate leader despite the party losing its majority in the senate or how pelosi was minority house leader a million times. JJ clearly just doesn’t get it. Our PM is just not like the President. Our parties can literally change who is the prime minister in the middle of a term. Nobody is actually elected as PM in a general election. It’s people who want to be like the US or are blindly influenced by it, like mccollough, who are confusing things. In Canada we elect MPs from a party to the house in general elections. These parties have elected a party leader in a private party election not controlled by Elections Canada before the general election or after sometimes. These private elections are like primaries but just done all on the same day. Theses parties can change the party leader in the middle of a term if they wanted and we’d have a new party leader. If the party with the most seats decides to do that we’d have a new PM. To make matters worse the NDP and Green Party (the two fewest seat holding parties) were the only two leaders in the last maybe 20 years to stay on as leader after an election loss. The Liberal and Conservative parties have all changed leaders after losses since Harper in 2001. The reason Jagmeet Singh and all other NDP leaders remain leader after their party fails to form gov is because they know from the beginning that they aren’t going to win. Their expectation is not to win. Their expectation is to run principled campaigns and affect change in minority governments and to be a voice of conscience for majority ones. The party members like Jagmeet Singh. Why run a US primary style election when not kicking him out as party leader (which they have every ability to do) does the same thing effectively at a cost of $0?? WTF is JJ really even talking about. He’s just saying stuff like any random person can do. Isn’t he supposed to be an expert? I believe musicians listen to music a bit differently than non-musicians; knowing something about how the sausage is made adds to it's flavor, so to speak.
On the subject of marijuana: do you think a law banning smokable marijuana but allowing edible marijuana would be beneficial, as a compromise between mitigating the health effects that are worse with smoked marijuana, and allowing personal liberty to those who wish to consume it?
Well the smoking part isn’t the most damaging part, especially considering that marijuana doesn’t cause cancer like tobacco does, edibles are more “hazardous” than smoked flower in that it’s easier to accidentally get too high and incapacitated from them.
Exposure to THC can be very dangerous to certain people. For example, it can cause mania in people who have bipolar disorder (even those who don't know they have it). I don't know the research on how potent second hand smoke is, but certainly if the marijuana can be contained to one person instead of spread in the environment, that seems like a better idea for public health while allowing individual freedoms.
I like how you brought up how devastating gerrymandering is, Mr. Beat. J.J. once called me anti-American for saying the same thing in his comment section, but thats probably only because I'm Canadian. When you say it, all he can do is change the subject.
@@MichalSventek unfortunately I can't link to specific comments. Here's the transcript. Me: This may be an unpopular opinion among Canadians, but I find our politics way more interesting than American politics. I'm sure J.J. would call me Anti-American for that. No doubt, we should be mindful of their politics, as they have significant lasting effects on the entire world, but I just don't see much point in following an election that is heavily gerrymandered. I think there is more to gain in focusing on politics that matter to us, and that we can actually have an impact on. J.J.: Saying US democracy is so "heavily gerrymandered" that it's somehow pointless is indeed an anti-American statement. That's a mean and false stereotype without basis in fact. Me: are you saying gerrymandering has no effect on their political system? Because I can assure you it is a fact. Maybe it is mean to say, but it is no stereotype. It exists, as much as we both would like say it doesn't. I'm not saying it completely controls their democracy, but to beat the system of gerrymandering, a candidate would have to be exceptionally popular. J.J.: this is such a profoundly ignorant thing to say. I can't even. Whatever, enjoy being anti-American. Me: there is nothing anti-American about being happy to be a Canadian citizen, respecting your neighbours ability to govern themselves, and choosing not to interfere with it. Your definition of anti-American is so broad that any Canadian who doesnt want to merge with them, and become an American is apparently anti-American. Well, y'know what? I was refraining from saying this because I've been trying to respect our differences of opinion, but you sir are extremely anti-Canadian and this channel's anti-canadian agenda is very blatant. If you cant even handle the slightest commentary about the challenges of American democracy, which Americans themselves acknowledge is a challenge, then clearly no, you can't even. The amount of cultural stereotypes you delve into and choose to be willfully ignorant about, and this is the thing you are upset about. Unbelieveable. You like to throw a lot of stones from a glass house J.J.

Here’s a question that I wanted to ask during the livestream, do you plan on doing videos like your former ones where presidents would align themselves on the political compass but instead of doing them on presidents you would do them for Supreme Court justices?
Hi mr. Beat! I was wondering if you could make a video comparing left-wing nationalism and right-wing nationalism, since it’s a topic that would be pretty interesting for a video.
17:40 funny thing, this exists between millennial and zoomers too. I'm a 98 baby and despite being born in what many say is the very start of gen z, I don't exactly feel like I can relate well to many of them. However, at the same time, I can't really relate to millennials either. There's something about being born before 9/11 but not having your conscious mind take over till a bit after that really makes you stand out
I think JJ got genuinely irritated at Mr. Beat for saying “that’s why you’re conservative” in regards to his experience with the healthcare system. But, as an American I do think that wanting to privatize healthcare comes from a place of ignorance. I agree that the solution is to have a mix that are all funded by the government, but to want a system like we have in America is simply ignorant to the brutal reality of American healthcare.
Canadians in general seem to want to have their cake and eat it too in regards to Americans. They love to badmouth both Americans and their own system in the same breath, and then turn around and send 15% of their population to live and work in America (often illegally, a privilege that Americans do not have in Canada at all). All while not fully understanding how badly the American system crushes 95% of us to prop up that 5% of success stories. Idk I love Canucks but they frequently don't see that they're quite possibly the most privileged people on the planet
I was also born in 81 and do not really feel like I fit into Gen X or millennial. I wish that the Oregon Trail generation had gained traction because I feel like it really capitalizes on this experience that we all had an elementary school that we thought of as high tech at the time.
52:51, Not sure if this was audio feedback delay or if J.J. actually said "Did you ever, here's an opinion," twice. Not able to tell. Oh well, just thought it was weird because it's extremely rare for someone to have a double repeat on four words like that consecutively in a single sentence. I think of stuff like that and find it fascinating.

Many times watching Mr. Beat, I get vibes of JJ McCullough's tone/cadence/timbre. The two of you together is RUclips gold!!! Happy to find this.
The most American RUclipsr meets the most Canadian RUclipsr.
😄
Yes. One of my favourite collaborations!
Thank you alarm for making me miss this
this was really entertaining.
Glad you thought so!
This is the Greatest moment in Human History
I'm a Canadian and love watching you jj. 👍
I believe musicians listen to music a bit differently than non-musicians; knowing something about how the sausage is made adds to it's flavor, so to speak.
100% agree. I didn't start playing music (bass) until my late 20s. It totally changed how I listen to music.
Mr.Beat, JJ M, Drew D and others in the 2023
I need a podcast of these fellas
On the subject of marijuana: do you think a law banning smokable marijuana but allowing edible marijuana would be beneficial, as a compromise between mitigating the health effects that are worse with smoked marijuana, and allowing personal liberty to those who wish to consume it?
Possibly! I'm surprised more don't bring up this option actually.
Holy shit plus the top comment it’s 3 of my favorite youtubers all together
I like how you brought up how devastating gerrymandering is, Mr. Beat. J.J. once called me anti-American for saying the same thing in his comment section, but thats probably only because I'm Canadian. When you say it, all he can do is change the subject.
Link?

I absolutely loathe gerrymandering. It is destroying our republic
@@HamishDuh2nd Couldn't find your comment, unfortunately :(
@@MichalSventek unfortunately I can't link to specific comments.

OMG as if you two are together! this is a wicked collab, two of my faves! JJ is one of my faves, he has really good vids on Canada culture!
I love that jj randomly has a minecraft crafting table behind him
I watch Jonathan Pie for British politics (intense and honest) and J.J. for Canadian politics (enthusiastic and honest) and Mr. Beat for the U.S. stuff (genuine and honest).
JJ is enthusiastic, but full of shit. Even his accent is fake.
The Song "One" also gives me serious Chills too. Both the U2 & Johnny Cash versions.
The first time I watched one of your videos I thought you sounded just like him so this is hilarious
The crossover of the century.
Loved everything about this video !! Except for JJ’s opinion on marijuana obviously.
This is like the president and the prime minister holding a friendly chit chat over a cup of tea, surreal but lovely
J. J. McMullet
oh my god I had no idea you guys got together and did this
17:40 funny thing, this exists between millennial and zoomers too. I'm a 98 baby and despite being born in what many say is the very start of gen z, I don't exactly feel like I can relate well to many of them. However, at the same time, I can't really relate to millennials either. There's something about being born before 9/11 but not having your conscious mind take over till a bit after that really makes you stand out
Everywhere I go I find J.J. lmao
Amazing crossover
Status Coup is real journalism on RUclips
Just discovered it
I think JJ got genuinely irritated at Mr.
The two goats of political youtube
I was also born in 81 and do not really feel like I fit into Gen X or millennial. I wish that the Oregon Trail generation had gained traction because I feel like it really capitalizes on this experience that we all had an elementary school that we thought of as high tech at the time.
52:51, Not sure if this was audio feedback delay or if J.J. actually said "Did you ever, here's an opinion," twice. Not able to tell. Oh well, just thought it was weird because it's extremely rare for someone to have a double repeat on four words like that consecutively in a single sentence. I think of stuff like that and find it fascinating.
I've got exams so can't listen today, but it's on my watchlist
Two powers greet each other.
