The exclusive SHMA Kong is definitely still the definitive Kong figure but this guy is a close second
Completely agree! I do think Hiya's Godzilla is the best 6" we have, but SHMA still captures the likeness and articulation. Especially when you can get the regular Kong version for about $30 right now.
Shma is inaccurate af and the paint’s bad as well

It’s just a matter of articulation and accessories in which case the exclusive SHMA blows this out of the water and it’s not even close

I think for anyone looking for a good Kong this is a good one. I still think the SHMA one looks better but this one looks more... accurate still? I dunno. I think its the sculpted fur texture on the SHMA that looks better to me. Both are stellar figures it looks like though! Excellent informative review as always Steve. Keep being one of my favorite toy reviewers on YT :D
Hiya is better at accuracy and shm is better at articulation
For the price and scale it’s definitely not a bad figure. My only problem is that the joints on mine feel so damn tight. I do prefer the face sculpt on this then the SHMA version but that’s just me

This guy is awesome! Definitely looks less fragile than the SHMA and I love the hinge joints rather than SHMA’s wonky ball joint arm system way better! Also this guy has a more accurate face than the shma one! Definitely going to buy this one!
This guy looks amazing. Way better than what I saw in the prototype photos.
I love their godzilla and cannot wait for kong. Yes it's as said not perfect but none are. For the price these figures cannot be beat. I'm dying to get Rodan with those flexible wings and Mothra. I'm so excited for what hiya brings us in the future. Hopes for gamera and other kaiju!
Hi Steven, I just got this guy for 35USD in Malaysia, it seems that since the import cost here is lower thats why you can get this Kong figure for pretty cheap in Malaysia.

@@StevensToyReviews I mean, someone may not have those figures that u display them next to. In some of your reviews, I own none of those figures, and I have no idea how it scales with the figures that I have. But if u measured it both in centimeters and inches like the other reviewers that I named, then I wouldn’t have that issue.
Sometimes I want figures for customs to be compatible with another line. I may want that kong for a grodd, but I’ll need to know if he scales right with other dc figures I have. A ruler would fix all of that. js.
I mean, it’s your review. U review how u like. U have that right. I just prefer ruler measurements for reasons stated.
Still getting monke regardless. And hopefully Hiya Toys does make more MonsterVerse figures because well they did tease Ghidorah.
Where did you buy the damaged buildings?
I'm still waiting for this monke to arrive since i preorder it from september. From what i see in other reviewer they seems to have trouble with the waist, but in your video kong can actually bend back amd forth which is a good sign.
My take away from all of this is while the kong figure is not as good as the godzilla, but considering the price point it's still a fair figure.

They should have taken the play arts kai approach.make the torso a hollow rubber material and add small slits on each side of the pectorals

I think Kong is the only figure I would give to SH Monsterarts, but for most of the other products particularly godzilla and ghidorah. Hiya is Killing Bandai

It's a draw for tbh.
But best King Kong figure I've seen is the 1933 King Kong from NECA. Screen accurate (to the point that depending on which you get, you get a sculpt that depicts one of the 3 stop motion puppets they used in the movie), BIG, plenty of accessories and relatively inexpensive.
You can get the basic SHMA Kong for the exact same price as the Hiya on a number of different sites.
@@TheKindofTiredSleepCantFix. I've never seen the SHMA Kong going for less than $59.99. Hiya is $49.99. And tbh the only worthwhile version of SHMA Kong is the mechagodzilla fight version. And that's like $90+

One interesting thing, is that Mechagodzilla from SHMA doesn't fit in size with Godzilla and Kong from SHMA. But it fits perfectly with Hiya Toys ones 😂😂😂

That Hiya Godzilla is good, but not worth double, triple, quad price. Not at all. I have it.
The way you were trying to make a blocking pose on Kong, you were bending the joints too tight. Me being a collector, unlocked so much phobias, replaying that scene over and over again in my mind.
Aaaaaand I'm a collector, too, what's your point? That's the range of motion.

funny how people say the face sculpt is more accurate literally go compare pictures from the sh head and the hiya head to kong from the movie and youll see sh is easily more accurate
The SHMA isn't more accurate; the sculpt is based off of Kong's skeleton and the rest is up to Shinzen's interpretation. He sculpted everything as best as he saw fit and beyond that reference model, he did nothing else.

@@KP-ng5vc I have. It's objectively not accurate. The roaring head itself has a significant overbite which Kong does not have.
