I could understand a great deal of the lyrics but my cassette tape album cover didn't have lyrics. As an adult it is nice to use your lyrics to gain an even deeper emotional understanding of the depth of this song. I intuitively knew the story growing up with all the stories of murdered gay kids. I too ended up in NYC Greenwich village, living it up with the other gay kids from small towns.
