So sorry to hear the very sad news of the death of Hywel Bennett. A truly wonderful actor. I used to love watching this series back in the day. RIP Hywel.
Grew up on this series started in 79 when I was 3 or 4 and well loved all through to 1992. Hywel was a wonderfully gifted actor ,with comic timing very rare. The sarcasm in this show was rife, very dry humour. I would imagine it was popular in France as most as many of the French authors were totally sarcastic as a rule Voltaire the most sarcastic of the lot.
+BogusOp0001345 The fact is most will work the point is they are still left to compete for soul sapping jobs like this today. I agree it should be remade but tv today does not want to touch anything controversal.
do you know what would be funny? If there were still jobs like this for people who fancied them, they don't exist anymore, it's either shelf stacking or 20 years and a couple of degrees.
RIP Hywel alias Shelley - remember watching as a kid in early 80's great times
Great tv, one of the reasons the 80's were wonderful.
Thank you Hywel Bennett for the giggles
Great show.
R.I.P

I used to love this show and I've definitely done temp jobs just like that with bosses like that.
R.i.P Hywel Bennett. A comic genius.
Like all the best comedy, it's so well observed, well written and well cast and performed.
RIP Hywel. I can hardly believe I am typing this.xxxx
I had the Shelley theme in my head when I read about his death.
Back in the day I identified with poor old Shelley. Superbly acted by the late Hywel Bennett RIP
Me too, I had been meaning to look and see if there was any Shelley on you tube and hearing he'd died reminded me to look.

True magic, I'm looking for the episode with the Indian restaurant please,
Love Shelley, better than any other sitcom. I am looking for the one where he explains God and the Bible to the vagrant in the cafe?????
Think you will find that episode was called "Universal Trust"
RIP Hywel, the only welshman I know with a cockney accent.
He grew up in London since he was 4
Doesnt Hywel look like Hitchens?
What series and episode was this?
they should remake this for todays generation call it benefit scroungers ; cant work , won`t work !
