Yes Tisha Campbell who played Gina on Martin was one of the Greek chorus, but Tichina Arnold was also one of the Greek chorus and she played Pam on Martin.
Seriously and honestly, watch things that you're not interested in. You're probably find a hidden gem. Little shop of horrors, has three versions of it, the original black and white, I don't know which one came first, but you have, the musical playing, and finally you have the movie. The thing to the movie, there's two different versions, one, the happy ending version, and you have the bad ending, where he goes on a rampage.
Audrey 2 was a puppet and in it's largest form required around 60 puppeteers. For the singing scenes it was done at half speed, including Rick Moranis singing slow, then sped up in editing.
Another film classic with Rick Moranis teaming up again with Steve Martin is 1989's Parenthood - along with Keanu Reeves and an A-List cast. (Not a musical (although Rick does sing a bit), but a classic comedy)
Fun fact in the director's cut Audrey, and her baby's do take over the city. Exactly what Seymour predicted was Audrey's plan, but was changed to a happier ending for the theatrical cut because the original ending was too dark.
The original movie version from 1960 is not a musical. It was directed by Roger Corman and is in the public domain. Jack Nicholson appears in it in a very early role.
One of my favorite movies from my childhood! It was nominated for 2 Oscars:. Best Visual Effects lost to ALIENS Best Original Song, Lost to Top Gun. There's a Director's Cut version that had an alternative ending where it shows the plant Audrey II taking over the world, but it was so controversial, it was reshot to give the film a much happier ending.
Audrey 2 was an animatronic and different tricks were used to make the motion smoother and faster like recording and playing back at various framerates, sometimes requiring the actors to act and mouth their lines in slow motion when interacting with it. I usually hate musicals but this movie is an exception.
Actually, I was a part of the set design for the stage play version in my high school back in 96. The bigger plant isn't animatronic. Someone actually has to get inside the plant and operate it from the inside. It isn't the same as a programmed animatronic puppet as it is a puppet that has to have someone making it move from the inside (they aren't the one singing or doing the voice, that is synced up with a voice actor who remains backstage). It takes hours of rehearsals to get it right. At least at the time it did. They may have changed it for the stage play by now, but back in the 80's and 90's, it was a person moving the big plant. That is the reason also why you don't see the extras on skid row. They have to be backstage with the main singer doing the backup singing for the plant for the final scene. If you get a chance to see the stage play version, watch it. It is absolutely wild to see it in person.
This is my favorite ending of the two. Congratulations on being pregnant. There's no greater honor than being gifted the opportunity to bring a new life into this world
There are a handful of the very niche horror comedy musical, with Little Shop and Rocky Horror Picture Show being the most well regarded. Others of note would be Phantom of the Paradise (directed by Brian De Palma), Rockula (with singers Toni Basil and Thomas Dolby), and Slumber Party Massacre 2.
I have never watched this movie in this entirety. Congrats on your pregnancy. You’re right that was Gina from Martin played by Tisha Campbell & also Pam from Martin played by Tichina Arnold. She also played Rochelle on Everybody Hates Chris.
There are actually 2 endings to this movie. There is the theatrical ending (The one you saw) and the director's cut original ending. The original ending was much different. Twoey ends up eating Audrey and Seymour, and the guy who wanted to mass produce Audrey II, ended up succeeding. The movie ends with the plants eating their owners and taking over the world.
Loved this movie since I was like 6 in the 80s. Don't think I ever realized that was the girl from Martin! I'll have to check on that. Ellen Greene did this on stage with Jake Gyllenhaal in 2015. It's on RUclips. She was 64 but looked and sounded EXACTLY THE FREAKIN SAME!
Now this is truly a classic. Congrats on your pregnancy. You hate musicals? Have you ever seen Grease? If not, that’ll be a great one to react to. Ashly that’s actually Gina & her best friend Pam from Martin🌸
Have you guys seen Rocky Horror picture show..? Good to see a musical reaction and expanding your experiences, congratulations on the little one, what movie character will the kid be named after.?
Great reaction. If you get a chance you should check out the restored Original Cut of this movie. The ending was changed after test audiences hated it but it is gloriously insane.
Rick was a dentist before he was an actor, which always made me wonder if that comment about the Dentist in this being an disgrace to the profession being some kind of nod/4th wall bit.
Yeah, but you can definitely tell he was only raised there for the first 5 yrs of his life. 😅 Lol he tried a lil too hard on that southern accent, which could’ve been done on purpose for this role too.. it was just a funny moment to me.
This movie has two endings one where Seymour wins and one where the plant wins
3:12 "I don't think you told them you hate musicals." -Ashly
I was getting the distinct vibe... 🙂

Uptown is the classy part of a city. See Billy Joel's song Uptown Girl.
This movie has 2 endings. The original is that Audrey eats Seymour and his species take over the earth. This one that you just saw is the good ending.
You missed out on one more banger song by watching this ending. There's another ending where Audrey 2 goes global and the music rules ^_^

You are correct Seth MacFarlane did sing a Carpool Karaoke of Suddenly Seymour with Ariana Grande.
@@wham-shirt-trimmer yesss that’s the one! Thanks 😂
The masochistic dental patient played by Bill Murray was played by 23 year old Jack Nicholson in the original 1960 movie

Hey guys i dont know if u guys realized. The entire time. Audrey 2 was a girl 😆 hence she had kids. Shes a mean green mother from outer space
I mean plants don't have a sex so I would say no
@ShuffleUpandDeal32 that's why she said she was a mother and they named her Audrey 😆 🤣 😂.
Yes, Rick Moranis is Canadian. He was on a hilarious skit on a Canadian show (SCTV) called The Great White North. Which was later a movie.
Hope you two are having an great and awesome day ❤
Great reaction ❤ you guys have to see Strange Brew with Rick Moranis a great Canadian movie😂
Congratulations Jenna🎉

8:27 I never considered that but it makes sense. Maybe because I first saw this in the theater when I was 9.

I've never cared for musicals either, but I have loved this movie my entire life. I don't think it needs to be mutually exclusive.
There's an alternate, darker ending between the Theatrical version and the Director's Cut versions.
Wassup yall always really enjoy your videos and can't wait for more keep up the amazing work my friends and congratulations Ashley 😊😊😊

Matthew possibly? As in Matthew lillard 😈😈

The men who wrote this play and the music also wrote the music for The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast.

I have a musical for the musical hater. Oliver! from 1968. I had a friend of mine who hates musical watch that and really enjoyed it.

Should have watched the original black and white version. It's way creepier and not a musical.
