  • 84 KETO MEALS FOR $40! The Extreme Keto Budget Grocery Haul & Recipes
Since the beginning of the New Year is usually when we refocus on our budget, I thought I would do a video centered around how you can be on the keto diet without breaking the bank. I decided to take an extreme (well extreme for our family) grocery budget of $40 and show you how you can get creative and make a week’s worth of keto recipes for a family of four (two adults and two small kids).
For this budget challenge, I shopped at Walmart. I assume that you have access to the basics like salt and pepper and some sort of oil or butter. Obviously other seasonings and spices will help make some of these recipes taste even better, but I wanted to show you that you can still be on a keto diet with minimal income and grocery budget.
Many of you have been asking for keto budget meals and cheap keto recipes so, here ya go.
Here is my Walmart Keto Grocery Haul Receipt:
    Romaine Lettuce $1.48
    Pork Shoulder Butter $8.50
    Frozen Chicken Thighs (64oz) $4.75
    Zucchini $0.49
    Yellow Onion $0.40
    Canned Green Beans $0.50
    Cauliflower $1.98
    Celery $0.88
    Cream Cheese $1.46
    Frozen Spinach $1.92
    Green Onions $0.50
    Mozzarella Cheese (16oz) $3.36
    Sharp Cheddar Cheese (16oz) $3.36
    Sliced Ham (16oz) $2.76
    Eggs (60ct) $7.05
    Total Keto Grocery Haul: $39.49
(I probably could have got another can of green beans!)

You are all lucky, Europe is way more expensive, a Can of Tuna in brine costs between 1.7 and 2.1 €, 400g of frozen peas costs 2€. If you manage a family of 2 grownups and 2 kids for less than 600€ per month ,you are lucky. We save a lot of money by having a small garden, it is good for your physical and mental health, and it is good for your wallet.

I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. I went from size 5 to size idk because I don't even want to know the real number. I hate looking at pics of myself now or me before. thank you for your video it's time to make a change.

Kudos, me too! Except a bug got to my plants and chewed the roots away so I must start over. But not a bad investment for 50 cents, eh?
I'm growing lettuce and bok choi in a passive hydroponic set up... basically anything that holds water! I've got recycled almond milk jugs, soda bottles, milk jugs, dollar tree storage totes all growing greens for me. I tossed some onion roots in a compost pile and they grew back beautiful towering columns. Being somewhat self sufficient is a great feeling, innit?

It's a good idea, if you can do it. It's important to note, though, that a lot of people don't have access to sun in their homes. If you're spending 40 dollars for a weeks worth of food for a whole family, you probably aren't living in a sunlit single family home with a yard, or a well windowed penthouse. There's a fair chance your in a small apartment, with small windows, and no yard. You may also be at the basement level, where all of the natural light is shaded by other buildings and the sidewalk.

    • @lisam2795
      @lisam2795 7 месяцев назад +3

@@spacecaptain9188They will still grown in any window ledge! I live with little sunlight, but they don't need much. I just stick them in a glass of water and they grow very well! If you don't have any windows at all, a small grow bulb is pretty cheap, too.

Yeah, my favorite easiest healthiest food has become a luxury item. People thought I was daft when I stocked up on tuna at 33 cents a can. I bought a whole case. Now that eggs are borderline unaffordable, I'm supplementing my meals with canned tuna that was on sale for the current cost of a single egg! From 8 cents to 33 cents each, this bird flu really messed things up. Luckily, the broiler birds are less affected by the illness and the price of chicken meat did not similarly sky rocket.

How'd that go? Always hate the names of diets like Keto & Atkins but I like the function of them. Generally just want to make stuff that applies to them from somewhat fresh to fresh ingredients. Sugar is my biggest opponent, calorie wise I have not been eating much most of the time except on holidays sometimes. But I do want to cut out bread/grain especially at my current weight level, seems to be the main difference that and potatoes as well.

But he'll eat my food too. Its not fair that he trades money for convenience, and I trade time for savings and he benefits either way while I have limited options. He doesn't think the egg prices are a big deal cuz he doesn't actually cook with eggs. Two of my eggs cost more than his 20 cent packet of ramen! But carbs are more filling , says him.

A tip for cheaper chaffles- I use the “white bread chaffle” recipe and it doesn’t use any cheese! It’s egg almond flour baking powder and mayo (I also add garlic salt). I usually triple the recipe and try to make like 10 at a time.
Then I do all open face sandwiches aka only use one chaffle for each sandwich. I use a piece of sliced cheese on top of the ingredients (deli meat, spinach, etc) to help hold it together for eating.

I picked up food for a homeless dude. Most of the food was carb and shelf stable starch. I did see a can of chicken breast, some peanut butter, and a canned ham. But mostly pasta, potato flakes, canned applesauce with sugar, canned beans, I think there was milk powder.
I know beggers can't be choosers, but I felt bad that if this guy were diabetic and insulin price was also too high, he had no choice but to starve or ruin his health.

Thanks so much sunshine. I'm new to Keto and have been doing Intermittent Fasting along with Keto. When I purchased about a pound of almond flour @ a bulk barn, it was shy of $10. EEEK LOL. However, THANKS to your video, you're offering us a low budget way to help us get started.💚 It takes the stress off of us to not get overwhelmed with the new way of eating and rushing out buying more pricier options if it leads us to not even start. The Key is low carbs, perhaps between 20 - 30 grams per day, definitely No sugars (other healthy alternatives), definitely Nothing with white flour, using healthy oils, etc. I'm 1 person but can adapt portions to what you have shown us. Inspiration is much needed and you've done that here. Thanks so very much. 🌞💚
