Kreese Drops BIG Terry Silver HINT in Season 2 and We All Missed it - Cobra Kai Explained

  • Did anyone else catch that in Cobra Kai season 2 when Kreese sits down with Johnny Lawrence to talk about his old war buddy who gave him a job that he eventually turned down? Johnny mentions the trip to Tahiti, which was 32 years ago as a collective of things he thinks Kreese might have lied about too. That trip was a gift from Terry Silver during Karate Kid 3 when Daniel (Ralph Macchio) fought Mike Barnes (Sean Kanan). I think Silver helped Kreese with a job and something might have happened that caused Kreese to choose shelters over going back to Silver for help.
If this was Silver that Kreese was referring to, then what happened? Did they have a falling out? Did Silver go somewhere far away? Did Kreese have a hard time doing the jobs for moral reasons?
I hope Cobra Kai Season 3 will give us new explanations on Terry Silver and Kreese as we develop Johnny and Daniel's backstory...and hopefully, Miyagi's through Chozen!

I'm sure Terry Silver will be just another "old man" who fought in Vietnam who now gets his butt kicked by Johnny and Daniel. ... I'm not pleased the way the writers had John Kreese lose to Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence.
It would not be appropriate to have Terry Silver defeat Daniel and Johnny at this point, because Terry Silver was not as skilled as John Kreese. Terry Silver even said, "John Kreese is the greatest karate man I have ever known."
If the writers would have simply had John Kreese and Terry Silver be virtually invincible in the same way that Mr. Myagi was virtually invincible in the Karate Kid movies, things would have been SO MUCH BETTER!
It is Kreese who should be "teaching" the "new" forms of techniques in the "Cobra Kai" TV series. Yet Daniel is learning from Chozen. That is an inferior plot.

I immediately recognized John Kreese was referring to Terry Silver as his ole' war buddy. And there is no doubt John Kreese is still friends with Terry Silver. John Kreese specifically spoke highly of Terry Silver to Johnny Lawrence, as proven by the mention of "The trip to Tahiti." The fact is, as we saw in Karate Kid 3, John Kreese simply does not like accepting "handouts" - not even from his ole' war buddy, Terry Silver.
Kreese did not mind making "payments" to Terry Silver, because that was fair. But Kreese had a payment with the "handouts," just as we saw at the beginning of Karate Kid 3. As long as there is a way for Kreese to play a role in making some form of payment back to Silver, Kreese is fine with that - as we saw confirmed when Kreese was willing to accept a "handout" of multiple Cobra Kai dojos from Terry Silver in the second half of Karate Kid 3. But, Kreese would have worked at multiple dojos and presumably made similar payments to Terry Silver.
There is no doubt it was Terry Silver who offered this "job" to John Kreese. But, that was a form of "handout" that John Kreese was not interested in and wanted no part of, because of his personal pride.
Also, John Kreese is "evil" enough that he he had no problem with allowing Terry Silver to dump nuclear waste wherever Terry Silver wanted. So, don't go saying John Kreese is the "good guy" just yet. John Kreese is like J.R. Ewing - he is "good" at being a "bad guy." And that is the way I like it.

@@lopezrome1982, I no longer care about the Cobra Kai TV series. I'm not even going to subscribe to Season 3. I saw a video that completely ruined the entire series. I now regard it as if the Cobra Kai series is not part of the plot. Here is what I wrote as a comment somewhere else:
DISAPPOINTMENT! ... Cobra Kai has officially "Died" to me. ... I'm glad I saw this. I'm NOT going to bother subscribing to Netflix and watching this now. ... There is NO WAY that the "Student" Johnny Lawrence would ever be able to defeat the "Teacher" John Kreese. ... John Kreese is the pioneering founder of Cobra Kai karate. Martin Kove played John Kreese so well that he stood out from the crowd and became the star of the show. The way we heard people over the years say, "Sweep the Leg" was awesome. And the way we heard people say, "Strike First, Strike Hard, No Mercy!" was also amazing. Everybody knew it was Sensei John Kreese who was being quoted. Now, there is an entire TV series based on Cobra Kai - the martial art and way of life that was created by John Kreese.
This was similar to the way the TV show called Dallas was not originally supposed to focus on J.R. Ewing, but Larry Hagman played J.R. Ewing so well that he stood out from the crowed and became the start of the show.
John Kreese was my favorite character. I loved Season 1 and 2, because they showed Cobra Kai represented what we all wanted all along - a TV series where it was okay for the bad guys we loved to win. I truly hoped John Kreese would be invincible in the Cobra Kai TV series the way Mr. Myagi was in the Karate Kid movies. Sadly, that did not happen.
Unfortunately, Season 3 here shows the new Producers over at politically-correct Netflix insist the good guys win, as usual. Legendary karate instructor John Kreese has now been defeated by his student, Johnny Lawrence. And John Kreese has now been defeated by Daniel LaRusso - who used techniques from someone who should have been his enemy. This means John Kreese is weaker than Johnny Lawrence, weaker than Chozen, and weaker than Daniel LaRusso.
I am sure the politically correct writers and producers over at Netflix will soon have it so Daniel LaRusso welcomes transexuals at his dojo. And I'm sure some of those transexuals will will beat up on John Kreese for teasing them, because he is ole' fashioned and believes you should remain a male or female when you are born a male or female.

This has been a surprisingly good series. They way they've brought back so many people from the original KK is amazing and very nostalgic feeling. Seeing everything from Johnny's side, making it appear like Daniel was really the bad guy. Just goes to show there's also two sides with two different stories and viewpoints. And the way Johnny's son is fond of Daniel and trained by him is really cool for a twist. I do see Johnny and Daniel joining up though, they're both not bad guys. Would be friends if they didn't end up vs each other like they did and now hold a ton of resentment towards each other. But i think that changes a bit in season 3. Both of them will have bigger fish to fry and join forces, most likely Johnny joins Miyagi-do. And seeing how Hawk went from nerd to totally sold out for Cobra Kai no mercy bit is cool also. Seeing how he's changed to become really a deadly weapon for Cobra Kai. Really cool series though

@Flashheart I know what I'm talking about. I've watched all the behind-the-scenes interviews, too. The "bad guy" you are referring to is Johnny Lawrence. The only problem is, "Johnny Lawrence" is no longer a "bad guy."
And Johnny Lawrence was never truly "evil" like John Kreese, Terry Silver, Emperor Palpatine, or people like that. Johnny Lawrence is just another Annakin Skywalker who can't make his mind which side he is on.
I always rolled my eyes when seeing the "magical moment" of Return of the Jedi when Annakin is with Yoda and Obi-wan Kenobi as Luke is looking at them at the end of the movie.
It must be comforting for all the parents of the Jedi children Annakin murdered in Revenge of the Sith to know that Annakin has been eternally saved like that.
I'm very disappointed the way this was done in Cobra Kai Season 3.
This scene should have been handled in a way where the son of Johnny Lawrence saw John Kreese beat up on Johnny Lawrence. This would have shown Johnny Lawrence still had plenty left to learn from the creator of Cobra Kai karate - just as Daniel LaRusso has plenty left to learn from Myagi-Do karate. ... But, that is NOT what happened.
What happened is Johnny Lawrence beat up on John Kreese. ... IF... I repeat IF the audience was aware of the fact that Kreese was "allowing" Johnny Lawrence to win, just because the fight was taking place in front of the son of Johnny Lawrence, and it was necessary to brainwash the boy, that would be another story. T
his was a trick of deception used by Emperor Palpatine when he easily killed multiple Jedi's in Revenge of the Sith, and then "allowed" Mace Windu to defeat him in front of Annakin Skywalker in order to deceive Annakin and gain Annakin as a student.
But, the writers of Cobra Kai really dropped the ball on this. The Cobra Kai writers made it so John Kreese lost to Johnny Lawrence in a fair fight, and then lost to Daniel LaRusso in a fair fight. That was DUMB!
John Kreese should have said something to Daniel such as, "You can't rely on that Defense Only stuff forever." Daniel should have replied by saying, "I don't need to!" in reference to the new techniques taught to him by Chozen.
However, rather than making Kreese look weak and stupid, the writers should have made Kreese say, "I've been using those offensive moves a lot longer than you have!" And then we would have seen Kreese use those same techniques on Daniel.
But, Cobra Kai is now a show were the good guys win and Kreese loses. ... Very disappointing.

@@DoctorZisIN in season 2: Johnny doesn't have a lease, they have a handshake deal. The writers of the show specifically put that scenes in the show, to let us know how easily it was for kreese to steal cobra kai.
Season 1: the writers show us plenty of scenes oh Johnny's money problems. While in season 2: has no scene about money problems, instead we get the start of season 2 with brand new paint job to his car.
Also to show the finacial success cobra kai has become, in season 1 Johnny was able to pay back the stepdad all the money needed to start cobra kai, and that was before more students joined in the start of season 2.
I do agree with u that a man in a shelter would have a hardtime getting a lease, but that's in the real world. In the show the landlord just needs to see the money, and as kreese pointed out at the end of season 2, the landlord doesn't like Johnny. Also many others here on the comments section have suggested that Kreese wasn't actually homeless, but just part of his trick to get Johnny to accept him back.

We may have missed the “telegraphing” connection. Kreese in KK 3 to Terry sparing with jobbers “You’re telegraphing the wheel kick.”
Miguel when first sparing with Tory: “Telegraphing”.
It’s too easy to miss, especially since “Tory with a Y” comes right after it. Maybe it’s a coincidence... but in my opinion, it’s a also a real hint at the Terry/ Tory connection as opposed to the more obvious fan service that immediately follows...

@@TheJofrica I think it’s foreshadowing a connection between Tory and Terry. I don’t think Terry is her father.
As far as Terry being Miguel’s dad, no... too many bad men out there. Interestingly, your logic could be used to point to a Miguel/ Kreese connection.
But the Tory Terry connection seems more logical, and less soap opera like.
You know, when Hawk tries to cheer Miguel up about Sam, he compares Miguel to Drake. Miguel responds by saying “I’m not sure I wanna be Drake.”
      Aisha responds:”Don’t worry, you’re not.”
Instinctively, I felt that Miguel would get horribly injured, but not permanently disabled.
I think the writers were pointing to Degrassi: The Next Generation’s episode “Time Stands Still part 2” in which Drake’s character gets shot and permanently loses use of his legs.
Aisha’s comment assured me that Miguel would not be permanently disabled...
      A coincidence or deliberate foreshadowing?
The writers are brilliant at foreshadowing..
That is undeniable... So we shall see...

I could see that. But they have been dropping hints about Miguel's dad and him being associated with bad people throughout the seasons.

"Kreese Drops BIG Terry Silver HINT in Season 2 and We All Missed it" - what a bait title, no one missed it. Kreese talking in that episode about his "old war buddy" who offered him a job after Cobra Kai collapsed was a very conspicuous reference to Silver. It couldn't have been more obvious if he'd been mentioned by name. Probably nothing happened between them after that; knowing the characters as we do, the most obvious explanation is Kreese was simply too proud to ask Silver for help. He even says he rejected the job because it felt like charity. Kreese is not a man who wants to be pitied.

My theories for season 3: Roby will get juvy bail from Terry Silver and John Kreese due to Terry's connections and join cobra kai. He will train with/against Hawk in the cobra kai dojo but will be train as the new Mike Barnes, full of aggression with no emotional compass with true disdain for Roby because of Miguel. Hawk though will be reluctant considering how far they push him into becoming a bully causing many others to leave the dojo. Meanwhile Daniel will have a fallout similar to Johnny at the beginning of the series which will bring them together. How so: Terry Silver will buy out multiple car dealerships in the area aka doing business with Tom Cole and force Daniel out of business putting a bigger rift between Daniel and his wife. Terry will promote Daniels son and train/abuse him like he did his father in the earlier movies through the neglect of Daniel's attention for his son. When Daniel gets back from training in Okinawa he will find his wife has been meeting/dating and signed the rights to the dealership to Silver not knowing the history. That's when Daniel meets Ali again upon seeing the divorce papers from his wife. Johnny will be back to day jobs and trying to get his son back in his life. He finds out who Mike Barnes is and loses a fight trying to get Roby out of Cobra Kai knowing he is being taken down a wrong path by Kreese. This leads Johnny back to Miguel who will get visits from both Sam and Tori but ultimately go back to Tori leaving Sam feeling like Miguel did in the beginning of Season 2. In the end Miguel will have a Rocky like come back from his injury. And since Johnny lost it all, Daniel lost it all and Miguel trains with them both, including Ali who helps with recovery as a doctor, he makes it to the Season 3 All Valley tournament against Cobra Kai and fights along side his girlfriend Tori, Sam and others in the new Iron Eagle Dojo. But surprisingly Terry Silver finally wins and expands the cobra kai dojo with Hawk at the end of Season 3. Now they can finally expand Cobra Kai to the Valley even though Roby goes back to his father and Johnny ends up with Carmen.
Tell me if any of this sounds plausable?!?

You’re leaving out the Okinawa stuff. There’s clips of Okinawa in the teaser and what looks like Chozin training Daniel. Let’s not forget, Miyagi’s dad taught Sato, and Sato taught Chozin, so technically Sato and Chozin are of the Miyago-Dō lineage. So that must be factored in somewhere. I predict Chozin vs. Silver

    I've got a kinda Theory. What if Kreese was playing the "broken man" to manipulate (remember that Kreese, was a highly trained expert on subversive tactics in the war) Sensei Johnny Lawrence, by finding a way to undermine Johnny Lawrence and get an "old school", Cobra Kai's Sensei, by manipulating Johnny's students, by Kreese, to get control of Cobra Kai. Mike Barnes and Terry Silver back as well, back involved with Cobra Kai. All want revenge to make, Daniel and Mr. Miyagi for all the defeats. I further believe, that in order for that to happen, they need multiple steps to do this;
    1) Get Johnny Lawrence out of Cobra Kai. (Make or break Johnny)
    2) Reclaim it for an "Kreese version of Cobra Kai" and,
    3) Bring in Mike Barnes, as Kreese's assistant Sensei.
    4) Deep pockets, financially backed up by Terry Silver.
    5) Then go after Miyagi-Do dojo, the students, and Daniel!
My Theory is based upon vengeance and manipulation. Possibility that Kreese is trying to make or break Johnny Lawrence to go after Miyagi-Do or not.
I'd appreciate it if anyone thinks that my theory is some what plausible or not, if it's to much of a stretch? I'd love to hear what you have to say!

Good i think too he play the brooken man. He manipluated all. He plan that Hawk destroy Dannys Dojo that Danny give the fault Johny! He also manipulate the students its Johnys Fault Miguel fell. It was not Johnys Fault but Kresse make the students believe him.

      Johny has the worst lack.
He give Kreese a second chance:
      - boom lose dojo.
      He help Robby:
      - Robby kicked Miguel to hospital. Okay it was a accident but he dont stop Miguel stop.
-Danny kicked him for helping his daughter...

    • @chadwassemiller3360
      @chadwassemiller3360 4 года назад +1

@@patrickfabsich2692 you bring up a good point. Yes Johnny Lawrence has terrible luck. Before Daniel kicked in his apartment door, Johnny was going to tell Daniel about Sam and Robbie coming stay at his place overnight because of what happened at the party. Daniel didn't Johnny a chance to
      tell him what happened.
Also, I noticed that not all Cobra Kai students were with Kreese, when Johnny found them with Keese. I noticed that because of the students who followed Kreese, was only part of the students, some, that I personally think didn't fully realize what Kreese was doing, so I am thinking that there will be a possible divide come out in the Cobra Kai Dojo. I'm thinking that in the later part of season 3, maybe even in season 4. Why I think that might happen I've seen subtle hints at that in the later parts of season 2. Like at the start of the school year fight, some of the Cobra Kai members actually tried to stop the fight, like some of the Miyagi-Do students as well. Kreese might be pushing a possible divide with Cobra Kai Dojo with manipulating certain students by letting other students think everything is okay and it is. (In my opinion, Kreese has a deeper goal, to benefit himself, by taking over Cobra Kai Dojo, he will try to break Johnny, by breaking Cobra Kai, that still have a certain loyalty to Johnny and break Johnny by breaking what he did pre Kreese). If we pay attention to seasons one and two, Johnny was at his best when Cobra Kai Dojo reopened because it gave him a sense of balance in his life. Kreese will possibly use a division in the Cobra Kai Dojo students.
Yes I know, these are just me kinda looking at it in a unique direction.
