I bet the neck on that things plays like butter. Every Schecter I have ever owned or played has had an amazingly smooth playing neck. One of my favorite features of a Schecter bass. Love them!
@@t.j.meechan682 I really like the Schecter basses. They’ve always held a special spot in my black heart 🖤 😂 necks feel great, solid finishes and price points obtainable and reasonable. Hard to beat those combinations.
Love my satin black Evil Twin version 🙌 My treble pot went out shortly after installing Fishman lithium battery kit (had nothing to do with it) which had a bunk battery. Fishman sent me a whole new battery kit (retail $100) and a new treble pot. Fricken amazing service.
I bought a used evil twin 5 and it had a faulty treble pot... I returned it and bought the black fade version of what Chuck of playing. It plays so nice. Love the neck!
I've been looking for a 5 string for years. I'm picky about aesthetics, and my hands aren't really "small" but my fingers aren't too long, so neck thickness is also a big factor. Never looked at Schecters for some reason until I saw a review of the Evil Twin version of this bass. Well, I asked the guys in my roommate's band if they had experience or opinions on the brand, and dude literally had that one you're playing on him right then. As soon as I picked it up I knew it was the one. Weight is great, balance is fantastic and as soon as I put my hand around that neck it was a done deal. I could not believe how comfortable and easy it was. All the pickup shenanigans are just an added bonus, but I'm going with this line 100%. Neck thru, string thru, balanced and comfortable and nothing ridiculous about the shape... It's perfect. I'll be going Evil Twin, cuz that's more my vibe, but damn... Wish I had looked into this brand years ago!
Own it, love it, 4 string version. Played Schecter guitars for years, great stuff. I play a 4 string Carvin fretless, Fender pj ultra, Fender 5 string p-bass, and Breedlove fretless acoustic. Not saying that the Schecter is my favorite of what I have. But,,, it’s a lot of fun dialing in that certain sound to fit the moment.
@Harmonica I'm thinking about picking up this bass. I am like you I have many basses because I own a recording studio. After a year of own this bass do you still like it?
I am still playing an elite series 4, emghz, through neck, chrome hardware. Best bass I have ever owned. Can't seem to get the tone I want from others.
Awesome review. 😎🤘🏻🎸 and I do like the idea of take 5. Especially since I play 5-string bass exclusively. And schecter is definitely one of my personal favorite brand of basses. I own a schecter stiletto extreme 5-string bass for about 9 years and I still treasure this bass. I do plan on buying another schecter stiletto since I do love the model. As for this schecter bass, it sounds phenomenal. I really dig the versatility and tonal option. I personally like how it sounds in classic and modern mode. It has that incredible humbucker tone that’s excellent for metal. I’ll bet it sounds killer with distortion. Anywho, great review Great new series. Looking forward for more episodes of take 5.
Informative video , Thanks ! I am really liking what Schecter is doing , they're making Quality instruments, I currently have a Schecter Stilletto Studio 8, 8 string bass on order, ( ordered it late December).. I am waiting patiently for it to arrive, it will most likely take several months before I receive it. 😀.
Great video! I'm looking to buy one. I had the 2009 1st riot neck thru but it came to me with scalped flat top frets. I'm setting up a return deal this time. I'm not getting burned again.
Got the 'Elite-4 at Christmas. It's already my #1 choice. I do keep it in 'single-coil' mode all the time though. Wish I could swap that to the 'push' position.
I was just looking at the 4 string version of this the other day. Glad to see you giving us a more recent review of this bass! Now I just need to sell my wife on the idea 😂
I use this bass for cca 1 year. I think it's still the second cheapest bass with FF pickups (the cheapest seems to be Cort A5 Ultra Ash). I really like FFs' sound and also small string spacing, but it is a matter of personal opinion. But I'd want to underline two other objective positives not mentioned in the review: very well balance (almost no neck diving) and perfectly accessible and simply adjustable trussrod. Both things are not quite common with other 5 string basses (and basses at all). The only objective negative may be a relatively sharp edge of the body for the hand.
@@bassimprovjams3772 I agree. I'm not 100% sure, but I think SLS Elite/Evil Twin seems to be the only choice if you are looking for the bass with Fishman Fluence pickups and smaller string spacing.
Thanks for the awesome review I use zzounds all the time!! Great place to buy gear on payments with no interest added. With 4,6,8, or 12 monthly payments. Sweetwater doesn't do 8 or 12 monthly payments. Go ZzSounds!!

I agree 100%. They are incredibly practical, innovative, and beautiful looking and sounding basses. It’s sad they don’t get more bass recognition because you can tell that Schecter really genuinely cares about the demands of bassists everywhere-it shows in their instruments.
Just bought one of these and will be posting vids on my other channel. For those of us who know what we’re looking for, we’ll find the right basses - like this
These basses have amazing features for the price, but I think they are let down by the Fluence pickups. Everyone seems to like them and they are a neat concept, but they are the most sterile and scooped-sounding pickups I've ever heard. The fanned fret Spector that uses them sounds the same. Would be great for your Korn cover band I suppose. Would be nicer without the body binding too, the one I tried dug into my arm pretty bad.
I love this bass. It's my dream bass for the versatility of tones. Wide range of sounds. And the finish... Just beautiful. However i can't afford it. 2100 euro for the fade black one and 1800 euro for the evil twin (I'm a leftie so we are screwed in terms of price). I am glad tho for the ones that gets this beauty.
So I've ordered one of these basses & I plan on using it in single-coil mode quite a bit. Would you recommend cavity shielding or is it relatively noiseless?
Cavity shielding if done correctly can only be better but it was relatively quiet. Obviously around certain lights or shoddy power sources it can be noisy but on its own it was fine
Neck width: Schecter SLS Elite-5 - nut ... 45 mm, 24th fret ... 68.5 mm; Ibanez SR2605 - nut ... 45 mm, 24th fret ... 68 mm *** Neck thickness: SLS Elite-5 - 1st fret ... 20 mm, 12th fret ... 22 mm; SR2605 - 1st fret ... 19.5 mm, 12the fret ... 21.5 mm *** Radius: SLS Elite-5 ... 406 mm, SR2605 ... 305 mm *** Scale: SLS Elite-5 ... 35", SR2605 ... 34" * String spacing at the bridge: SLS Elite-5 ... 17 mm (I think it is 17 mm rather than 16,5 mm - how to measure it correctly?), SR2605 ... 16,5 mm
@@TheBassChannel I think that's the reason the neck feels so good and comfortable to play. Since I frequently switch between 4 strings and 5 strings, I purchased an Ibanez BTB 5 string with full string spacing. It's easier to switch, but, man, sometimes I think it would be nice to have a sleeker neck (35" scale and full string spacing of 19 mm). Apart from that, the SLS Elite is an interesting bass. Couple of years ago, I met Schecter at the MusikMesse in Frankfurt, Germany (where I live), and I really liked their approach and their products. Always looked out for a Hellraiser Extreme bass, but Schecter basses are not that common in Germany (at least, that's my impression).
You think they sound like a Sire? Which model? I’m genuinely curious because we have a couple Sire basses and I can assure you they have no comparison. They sound nothing a like. Especially because of the Fishman Pickups and preamp. That one detail alone sets them apart from each other tremendously.
In my opinion schecter nails it with quality and design. That being said they miss the mark with what bass players want in sound and feel. Their basses are beautiful but they only cater to metal genre music. The string spacing is very narrow for not using a pick. The bridge is too close to the pickups for slap for a lot of us longer finger people. And sound wise…. Emg and fishman, mostly rocker sounds, which is totally cool, but not versatile for most other genres, like pop, gospel, country! Imo make it a 22 fret with barts or Nordys and make the bridge to adjust string spacing and they would be virtually unbeatable basses for the money!
That's so expensive for a Korean-made instrument. I get that that the specs are through the roof (and the quality control is excellent), but you can get a American Professional II for that price, and it comes with a legit hardshell case, tools, and it will hold its value WAY better.
Ezra - I'm willing to be the specs here are better than those on a Fender. Through-neck with carbon-fibre reinforcement rods (not mentioned on the video), FF pickups etc. USA built doesn't necessarily mean built better these days. Sure, a hardcase or very nice heavily padded soft case would be great but a quality case is cheaper than retrofitting reinforcement rods or FF pickups.
I bet the neck on that things plays like butter. Every Schecter I have ever owned or played has had an amazingly smooth playing neck. One of my favorite features of a Schecter bass. Love them!
