I've set everything up (box and cards) and I'm learning my second bible verse now. Thanks for this Charlotte, this looks like a great system. Greetings from Holland.
I fell upon this by ACCIDENT.. or...Holy Spirit Lead ME...lol because I've been wanting to make this, but..I deal with a Brain Trauma that's let's me with Brain Damage, that about 2 months later caused me a stroke. I used to manage 5 depts in the corporate world, fast pace meetings, 2 monitors 10-15 systens up, hundreds of emails, the phones.. created websites, created slide shows to represent my department numbers...to NOW. Now I struggle to recall my address, I struggle and bow out of me daughter Inlaws baby shower games because it overwhelmed me to understand what or how to do it... So I struggled to get started on THIS which is to be a "Useful Tool".. so THANK YOU. I will ha e to relisted several times because it's too fast for my brain, some areas confused me a bit but I'm hoping by listening to it iver and over with all the material in hand I can comprehend what I'm to do.. I believe I will. This is awesome. You made my day. 💐
I use this system and love it. I learned it at a conference where you spoke. The only change I made to the system was that on the number cards I put two numbers on each so 1 and 15 on the first one and 2 and 16 on the 2nd one so that we review twice a month the graduated cards.
So glad to find out that you have premade cards! I stumbled upon your video where you model the system with a timer, and was so overwhelmed thinking about choosing all the verses and planning how to put it together! Will be ordering premade cards very soon! Thanks!
I have watched quite a few videos on how to do scripture memory. Sometimes I find them simply too complicated and mechanical. That is, it's easier to memorize a verse by simple repetition than it is to go through all the mechanics of the systems, especially as something complicated as a memory palace. But I would add one little trick that actually works quite well. One could read the verse from the Bible, but on the card, only put the first letter of each word in that verse. This causes the mind to have to give more thought to the process rather than meredependence home birds on a card.
hi there, im so excited to try this with my family. I just can't seem to open the free pdf for the tabs on the site. Anyone else having the same problem?
Thank you for commenting about this, Joshua. And for anyone else wondering, you can click this link: simplycharlottemason.com/store/scripture-memory-verse-cards/ and use the drop down menu to select the free cards for PDF download. Many blessings!
Hi, Thank you for reaching out. SCM offers free pdf downloads for scripture memory as well as pre-printed cards that you can purchase from our website. Here is a link: simplycharlottemason.com/store/scripture-memory-verse-cards/
I wonder how I could use this system for memorizing whole books of the Bible. I’m currently memorizing John and repeating everything every day is starting to get too long.
An idea. My Bible divides John 1 into 7 paragraphs. I would focus on memorizing 1 paragraph at a time until I could do the whole chapter, then move that chapter to the odd/even, and begin working on ch.2, storing each CHAPTER the way she showed storing each verse. You might want to consider chunking 1-5 chapters together when you get to the days of the month, just so it flows better and makes sense as a story/account. I might have to try it myself!
Hi, Thank you for reaching out with your question! Here is a written description and another video that explains the process recommended by SCM. The way that we target scripture memory is as described here: simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/memorysys/
Hi Pam. You can use whichever version you prefer. Some families utilize one of the versions we have available while other families prefer to use the version they are most familiar with and read regularly from.
You can simply pick up the next day you get back at it! Give yourself grace when you have to miss or skip a day and simply resume right where you left off in the system. :)

We love this system! Its been such a blessing to our family. Even my 16-month-old bobs her head and makes sounds to the cadence of our voices.

Super
Do you use the method of loci? This is just consistent repetition

Sorry but your system still is basic repetition. Please look up the method of LOCI or mind palace
Hi SCM, the link to the video on setting up the system now goes to a "private video". Is it available somewhere else? Thanks!
Good catch! Somehow the video on setting up the box was set to private. It should be available now.
Are the dividers also for sale?
Hello Selina, The dividers automatically come with the printed verse cards!
I like this system but when you say go to the reference site it always says “this video is private “and advice ?
Same problem here! I tried searching for that specific title, but no result. I also couldn't find it on the channel. Odd!
Elisabeth and Patty, thanks for letting us know about the broken video link. Somehow that video had been set to private. It should be available now.
I get confused on which bible version to use.
Hi Pam. You can use whichever version you prefer. Some families utilize one of the versions we have available while other families prefer to use the version they are most familiar with and read regularly from.
How does this work when you need to skip a day?
You can simply pick up the next day you get back at it! Give yourself grace when you have to miss or skip a day and simply resume right where you left off in the system. :)
