A useful trick I discovered: write the verse out, repeatedly, and then write just the initial letters of each word. It’s amazing how that’s enough to prompt you to recite the whole verse, even though you can’t without those initials. Much shorter way of writing them out. Brilliant, and I find it well nigh impossible to remember anything. Hope that helps someone
Long time pastor’s wife here with you. Beaten up. And lonely. Broken. Tested. Starting again. Thank you for your vulnerability. Looking forward to the lessons.
A few years ago I did something that I should have done long before that. I actually memorized Galatians, Ephesians, Phillippians and Colossians all the way through. I held myself to a super high standard. I had to keep circling around until I got EXACTLY. It was exhausting and when I started on 1/2 Thess I started morphing verses and had to slow down. However, it was extremely eye-opening. I started to see things in the text I couldn't see before. A couple things really stood out to me. 1. Whole meal. I really believe each book is to be read and understood as WHOLE. Otherwise we end up with a fractured understanding of what the Spirit is saying. 2. Unsearchable Riches of Christ. The riches of Scripture cannot be exhausted. What Charles Spurgeon said of the Bible was so amplified - No one outgrows the Bible. It is the only Book that widens and deepens with our years.
My dad used to say the same thing, then tag it by saying, "That's why it's called the Living Word." I do read the Bible in chapters. If I don't I'm going to miss things. First of all my eyes are starting to go (prayers for me and 2 Christian co-worker's eyes welcomed.) When I was in college, this guy had memorized and orated Matthew 26:47 through chapter 27. It was awesome.
@@momofmany6619we started family memory verses when our kids were young, 5 and just turned two. We did not dum down the verses for the 2 yo, so he was memorizing 2-3 full version verses along with the rest of us. We recited them together at the table, each person taking a turn to say the verse, or if it was early in the week reading the verse…with the one that was having the hardest time saying it going last. Yes that was usually the 2 yo cause he couldn’t read. But by the time it had been said 3 times ahead of him, he knew most of the verse, and wasn’t far behind anyone else. I also knew a lot of American Sign Language, and so would use that especially a sign for the major words, to help the kids. They loved this as they could be animated with the verses. It also makes it easier to learn something, the more of your senses you can bring into the learning process, from ASL and motions, to writing it out to seeing it acted out…etc. I even found songs or videos of verses, as I had learned some verses this way as a kid myself. Search RUclips for a song of the verse you’re working on. Steve Green’s Hide ‘Em in Your Heart vol 1&2 were videos we got for our kids, again search here on RUclips. Review them and learn them as a family really made it easier for everyone to learn. I also carried our weekly packet around with me, so when we were waiting someone those were easy to review with the kids. Then i had a list of references for the older verses. With several people having learned the verses, it would be easy to review older verses, as if the one quoting it was struggling with a word, someone else could help fill it in. The rewards are huge, and even though we have quit reviewing them, kids are out of home, and we lost list in a flood 7 years ago, and with daily brain fog, I still run across verses memorized in my devotional time, and can do a decent job remembering them.

I'm glad to hear that. The worst church mentioned in the book of Revelation is the church of Laodicea. It's the only one where Jesus isn't even in the church. Take a look, Revelation 3:14-20. Jesus is knocking on the door. Most Christians use this as an evangelistic verse (vs. 20) but Jesus is just trying to get someone to let Him into their heart so they can take Him into the church.
Also I heard this memory system from Charlotte Mason. I'm kinda of older and my memory isn't all it used to be. But reading the verses reach day helps even me remember! What a blessing. Love love a lot. My box is smaller and needs to be larger. 👍

Several years ago I started memorizing whole books of the Bible. We had a chapel speaker who did a dramatic recitation of the Sermon on the Mount. Later, when I taught middle school humanities, I had my 5th through 8th graders memorize ch 1-8 of Romans. But it wasn't until years later that I started doing it myself. Just wanted to tell me how much I appreciate your videos esp the one on verse mapping. I’m a 73 yr old Bible Nerd and just want to know Jesus better and make Him known!!! God bless you. Btw I live memorizing scripture and want to share my passion for it with others but I must be doing something wrong 😩
This is the Charlotte Mason way of memorizing scripture for children. I loventhis system. We do it during family worship, lunch, dinner and during our homeschool time. The kids love moving the scriptures from daily to odd and even and so on as they memorize them.
Heya ❤ I found 4x6 verse cards to remember verses/Psalms. You made beautiful cards to help you remember. I saw the video of you making all these scrapbook type cards... Faith!! The dollar tree sells them. Many, many, many.. Near the check out area, says "Bible verse". Anyways, just a shout out for your fans. Including me I bought 4 different boxes with 20 each of different boxes. 👋
I’m a new follower… May God Bless You.. just wanted to comment to tell you that I Would Be Friends With A Pastor’s Wife.. I Would Love That. You know, now that I Became Christian, a lot of people I Thought I Knew, Gave Me Their Back, but I’ve learned to not pay attention to that, I just care about having this love and bond with God.. that makes me SO SO HAPPY🙌🏽❤️.
I don't know i its a gift, but you're a really engaging speaker!! I would usually skip right to the part where you actually explain how you memorise the scriptures but I watched the whole video because you're really interesting an you're so engaging. May God protect this, exaggerate it, bless this in you and may he use it for his glory.
Just a quick note… I received my box today… I’m off tomorrow and plan on doing a lot of studying and in between will be setting up my Scripture box. Thank you again for this video! 💜🌻
i just saw a video of yours. more recent one and then this popped up. I understand what you are talking about and know that your words may not mean much to a small number of people but they are resonating with me greatly. God bless you and stay encouraged that the Holy Spirit will guide your work.
And I’ve spent a happy hour on eBay and found an old but seemingly clean library card filing draw which will take 3 x5 cards. Happy lady! I’ve tried before, (and given up) but now we have a system!
I'm only about half way through this video. I haven't even gotten to the part of the video of why I wanted to watch it in the first place (bible verse memory), but your words about the difference in knowing God and KNOWING God moved me. Deep inside I have longed for both knowledge ot God and a true, close relationship with Him that requires knowing who He is and why I need Him. Thank you for voice, for you allowing God to speak through you and use you in a way to reach His lost and broken people. Please keep doing what you are doing and please never let go of the gift God has given you. People like me need you.
I just want to say I truly love you as a sister in Christ. I have felt all of these lonely things as a believer too I can’t wait to meet you in Heaven some day. 🥰
This was a beautiful video. I have always wanted to use a Bible Commentary and other aids. I thought that was for scholars and pastors. It wasn't until I found your channel that I finally learned how to pick good resources.
With me l found it so much easier to memorize when you prioritize your attention in realizing this is a commandment of God to put His Word in our heart to ward off satans attacks as our Lord and Savior did. PTL
Hello, from WISCONSIN!!! Thank you for your time and effort in making your videos!!! You are such an encouragement, and your enthusiasm is contagious!!!! 🤓
I want to be friends with a pastors wife!! My heart went out to you in that moment SO hard. Bullied as a kid/teen and not finding true friends until just recently in my church, I feel you Faith. 🥹 I hope your loneliness has been met with love and peace in our gracious Heavenly Father and that you did indeed make some healthy friendships since you posted this video. ♥️
I love your zeal and transparency. I wish I could do patreon but right now is not the season, but I truly want to delve into the Bible more! Yes I am inspired.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours! As you know, there’s gonna be a lot of scripture memorization in Bible college. And this is going to help me a lot!! Than you so much for this video! 💜🌻
I think this is one of the best videos I’ve watched of yours Faith! Even though I love all you do. Thank you for it and for being so real with us every day. Thank you for all the resources that you make available to us. And thank you for your enthusiasm.
ANKI software does a very similar thing. You do a card and then select it to repeat in minutes, hours, days, or months. Obviously, when you fist pull a card it will be hard to repeat and you'll select HARD as a repeat. Keep doing this until it's easier and the program will keep pushing it out further but never forgetting it so you always go back through the cards. I use it extensively for memorization and for study. I just saw somewhere where I could buy 5,200 (!) MCAT cards.
Job 22:21-22 NIV [21] “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. [22] Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.
Hi Faith, I did not see the wooden scripture box in your list of items. I did find it on amazon, but I don't know how to share it for others. Just fyi!FYI!! This was a great video and it made me cry.. I maybe a baby but it was a beautiful meaningful video. Thank you.
I just stopped on your site when I saw the words Scripture Memory & Verse Memory. I watched till the end. I felt like it was rushed through so fast. I wanted to hear more about this idea you created. I believe it is a great idea, but at the end I told myself "What"
I too have struggled with disordered eating and anorexia since I was 18 (I'm 27 now) and I took a leap of faith (no pun intended) and asked God to take control of my body. and I'm in disbelief everyday that the Lord takes absolute care of me. and my form of "Christian fasting" is actually eating... if that makes sense. Because every time I eat I beg God to take care of me. and SPOILER ALERT, He does.
Wow I love this idea! Instead of a box, I took a tiny unused notebook. I put paperclips like so: I used the "scooby doo" strings, you know those we used to make like knots and stuff with? Different colors? No? Okay😂so I made a tiny knot and cut the excess (those are for the days of the week). Next, I tied rubber bands (one for "odd" and the other for "even"). Finally, I used some tiny seeshell charms from a bracelet (rip bracelet😂), one for "daily" and the other for "monthly". I haven't written any verse yet, but I know I'll love it. That way I can carry it with me wherever I go😁 Thanks again👍
I like so far what you said about your verse memory system, but don’t understand what you do with the third & fourth sections. I am trying to figure out how to join your Patron group. All I have is my iPhone, no computer, no internet, & am tech challenged 😬. I’m entering the “seasoned” stage of life & my forgetter works better than my rememberer - especially since having had Fibromyalgia - memory ain’t what it use to be, so I already have verses on 3” x 5” cards that are hole punched & held together on a 3” ring for me to flip through. I don’t flip through all of them enough or often enough. Your system sounds like I could cycle better through them. May I have help with details on your system? BeckyAnn
Thank you for all your videos! Currently going through the Bible Bootcamp and was curious as to how you determine what verses you are going to set to memorize. Is it just ones you pick as you are going through a study?
Thank you for sharing your system and your story! I'm curious, are there any cards available online so we don't have to write them all out? I have joint pain issues and it is difficult to write a lot.
You could paste them into a Word document set up with 2 columns, print out on thicker paper (like 28#), and cut them into cards with a scrapbook paper cutter. :)
How do you arrange verses for if you’re doing a whole passage or chapter at a time? Do you work on each verse and move it along like separate verses or some other way. Just trying to figure out how it would work and have the verses flow one into the next with this process. Thanks! I enjoy your videos.
Okay, I don't know if it's me, but you went through the set up and how you do it so fast, that I really couldn't get how you work this out on the daily. Made no sense. I'm going to go back and watch it again and pause and try to figure out what you do. If I figure it out, then yeah, it was just me. If not, I'll post again and ask.
@@mycrazyfamilyid THANK YOU!! God beat you to it though. Right after I posted this question the lady from the Charlotte Mason Video showed up in my feed. I have the whole system in place now. Really great! Thank you for sending this reply though! Blessings!!!
I don’t get the even and odd index. 😢please i want to learn more how it is done. For example i’d memorize the verse daily how will I categorized it if it is odd or even?
So, I think I get the second section. Let's say it's Monday. You would have all the verses you are working on for Monday in that section and then the next day you move them to Tuesday and then the next day you move them to Wednesday, so you work on them all week? Is that right? That verse just keeps shuffling through the days until you have it memorized and then goes into the third section? Section One confuses me. You said your daily verse section contains the newest verses you would like to memorize. Then you have verses by odd or even and you study those on correlating odd or even dates, and lastly is your monthly verse. So does this mean you are trying to memorize 4 verses a day (Your daily verse, your even or odd verse, a monthly verse and your verse for the day of the week)? That would be a lot at once if that's the case. When do these verses move into section two? How do you decide which day of the week to place them under? When they move into section two is it just based on whichever day it is at the time? Do you move more than one verse forward at a time? That could mean you're memorizing and reviewing more than 4 verses a day. Sorry, a lot of questions, but I'm just trying to figure out the process.
You can find the wooden box here: amzn.to/3SDFF3g and join Patreon here: www.patreon.com/howtofaithalife

Thanks for sharing!
I love your passion and sharing of the word. Reminds me about my past. Be encouraged and blessed.
I love this. Thanks Faith. Absolutely beautiful.
Thank you!
Amen sister!!!
This is the Charlotte Mason way of memorizing scripture for children. I loventhis system. We do it during family worship, lunch, dinner and during our homeschool time. The kids love moving the scriptures from daily to odd and even and so on as they memorize them.
I am so happy to hear this is a good news and I hope you are doing great
Heya ❤
I found 4x6 verse cards to remember verses/Psalms. You made beautiful cards to help you remember. I saw the video of you making all these scrapbook type cards... Faith!! The dollar tree sells them. Many, many, many..
Near the check out area, says "Bible verse". Anyways, just a shout out for your fans. Including me
I bought 4 different boxes with 20 each of different boxes.
Wow! That was a powerful message! Thank you for sharing! You’re messages are always so well spoken and on target.
Praise the Lord!
I love her passion!
We do something very similar to this in our homeschool! We got the idea from Simply Charlotte Mason.
I understand where you are coming from. I think it is just an intense desire to be closer and closer to God
Thank you!
Amen amen. We are Here
I’ll be friends with a Pastor’s wife xx. Thanks for all this
And I’ve spent a happy hour on eBay and found an old but seemingly clean library card filing draw which will take 3 x5 cards. Happy lady! I’ve tried before, (and given up) but now we have a system!
I got the chills. Thank you for sharing this. I needed this. 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing. ❤
I found this so helpful thanks
Thank you so very much.
Thank You💖
I just want to say I truly love you as a sister in Christ. I have felt all of these lonely things as a believer too
I can’t wait to meet you in Heaven some day. 🥰
I also do the same memory verse system… Charlotte Mason❤
You are refreshing. Thank you for being Real, Sis 🥰
God bless you Faith. My heart is with you sister. ❤️
Thank you!
This was a beautiful video. I have always wanted to use a Bible Commentary and other aids. I thought that was for scholars and pastors. It wasn't until I found your channel that I finally learned how to pick good resources.
Praise the Lord!
With me l found it so much easier to memorize when you prioritize your attention in realizing this is a commandment of God to put His Word in our heart to ward off satans attacks as our Lord and Savior did. PTL
Good point, thank you.
Am so thankful for you, just taking time to explain the bible with us..but am trying to read an remember but it's so hard sometimes, please help me
Hello, from WISCONSIN!!!
Thank you so much, I and so many other Christians feel similar feelings and hearing you talk about your struggles is so helpful.
Thank you for taking the time to type that kind comment!
Nothing like hard times to spark a hunger for the word
I love your zeal and transparency. I wish I could do patreon but right now is not the season, but I truly want to delve into the Bible more!
Yes I am inspired.
This is one of my favorite videos of yours! As you know, there’s gonna be a lot of scripture memorization in Bible college. And this is going to help me a lot!! Than you so much for this video! 💜🌻
Wow, thank you!
I think this is one of the best videos I’ve watched of yours Faith! Even though I love all you do. Thank you for it and for being so real with us every day. Thank you for all the resources that you make available to us. And thank you for your enthusiasm.
I'm so glad!
Thank you Faith and Thank You Jesus for this ministry
Praise the Lord!
Verse Locker App is awesome, too!! (and free) ...love your channel. So good.
Under eating used to be me but God healed me!!! Woohoo!! Praise god!!!
That pineer woman has really cute floral recipe box that be perfect as well as memory verse box
Amen
My Hunk calls me a “spiritual hoarder “ because of all my Bibles and knowledge books etc
Come the day they stop selling them, you’ll have plenty to share!
I so needed this. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Job 22:21-22 NIV
[21] “Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. [22] Accept instruction from his mouth and lay up his words in your heart.
super helpful!
THANK YOU
Hi Faith, I did not see the wooden scripture box in your list of items. I did find it on amazon, but I don't know how to share it for others. Just fyi!FYI!! This was a great video and it made me cry.. I maybe a baby but it was a beautiful meaningful video. Thank you.
ooops! Thanks for the reminder to add the link! Here it is: amzn.to/3SDFF3g
I just stopped on your site when I saw the words Scripture Memory & Verse Memory. I watched till the end. I felt like it was rushed through so fast. I wanted to hear more about this idea you created. I believe it is a great idea, but at the end I told myself "What"
Thanks for sharing 🙌🏾! I’ve been thinking how do I memorise scripture lately…wonderful method
Glad it was helpful!
I love this!!
I know this is an old post. But I wanted to let you know that Jesus is working through you. I have never been so encouraged to find Christ.
How crazy! I’m in Northwest Georgia! Lol
Thanks for sharing!
Picture? I can't visualize this.
Do you have a video about your conversion story?
How do you decide what verses to memorize?
You can also have fun with taping the verses to the index card with the decorative Washi tapes…?! 😊
@@reginacheong7007 Yes, good idea!!
You could paste them into a Word document set up with 2 columns, print out on thicker paper (like 28#), and cut them into cards with a scrapbook paper cutter. :)
@@mycrazyfamilyid good idea, thank you!
When the intro is long, I would recommend time stamps.
Look up "Simply Charlotte Mason memory verse system".
