I'm really glad to see that Chaosium is doing so much to support RQ. It can seem like a daunting game to get into if you're not familiar with it.

On the "You Glorantha's will vary". My Glorantha's vary from group to group, a lot with the same players.

These Chaosium vids always seem to deliver more than I expect. How many things can we say that about?
    Cheers!

Was RuneQuest curious and finally found a good GM. It's a fantastic system! Very awesome world to run around in and have adventures. I'm hooked. 🧡⚔🎨

I completely agree that GMs are not storytellers. It's important to realize that the story is what happens in the table.

Currently planning my first game of RuneQuest as a GM as we speak, and this video has given plenty of good advice. Especially the part where Your Glorantha May Vary. Yes, it's going to be set in Glorantha. But, it's going to be my table's version of Glorantha. And that should apply to any RPG official setting, agnostic to the system you use. The setting is compelling. This High Magic Bronze Age world is very interesting to me and is very well thought-out. Of course, it's had time to develop over time, as well, which I can certainly appreciate. Cheers to you all, folks.

I like the idea that combat is for specalists. You need to make violence your area of expertize in order to engage in combat with minimal risk.

Just read through the starter set, gotta say I'm really impressed with it, granted combat is definitely something that will take time to get used to but the setting and the lore are really interesting.

Get with the Runes and Augments mechanics if you are getting back GM’ing that and the opposed roll thing.

GameMaster Law for Rolemaster from 1995 has a great system agnostic section. Thought me a bunch on pacing, negotiation, focus and lots more.

I love these video's and they are very informative so thank you very much. I would like to request a video topic if you can find the time, but I would to learn more in depth about the spirit world. How to conceptualize it, make it feel more real, and also how the shaman-player interacts with it and any advice on running it as a gamemaster. Thank you, and keep up the excellent content!

Being a player/GM of Runequest since the late 1970s, the two biggest problems I see RuneQuest having is 1) the lack of a serious sustained marketing effort over the years which allowed D&D to capture the majority of the world RPG market, and 2) tying the game to the world of Glorantha. Having Glorantha *available* as an campaign for the game is great but, thanks to D&D, most D&D players and DMs develop their own worlds or at least run published adventures linked _loosely_ to a campaign world. I've seen tying the game mechanics to Glorantha put off D&D gamemasters who have put a lot of time and effort into developing their own worlds or buying world background material from Wizards of the Coast.
As a game, RuneQuest is no more complicated than D&D 5e. And I've seen D&D players really commit to RQ combat system because it allows for much more free-form tactics and strategies the D&D ever can.

As someone new to RQ i can confirm that the strong ties to Glorantha are a bit off a put-off. Although i often argue that with any System you run *some* assumptions about the world will always leak into your worldbuilding. D&D also has its own assumptions on e.g. magic, gods etc. it is strongly tied to.
