Thanks Tim, i didnt need to do the repair, but thanks for pointing out the CD's need to be facing down. all this time i thought there was something wrong with my CD changer as i kept getting CD-Error, .......... like a moron, I had been putting the CD's the wrong way round!

I replaced the CD changers in my E46 and Z4 with a USB/Bluetooth player that mimics the factory interface. So I have modern music but it all works using the steering wheel controls and existing head unit. Saves 10kg ;-)
Mine says 65. 12-9 129 433 and it appears that I can't open up the 6-CD cartridge (the top surface is actually clear plastic). It is a 2008 650i so maybe they updated the magazine at some point?
Unfortunally I have a CD changer from the 5 series E39 and it seems this is not my issue. My CD magazine is p. no. 8 364 931 and is all plastic. No ball bearings at all, the trays are plastic not metal. Those CD changers seem to have some mechanical issues rendering them inoperable, sadly. Oh, btw as for the meeknet site. I’ve been using it for years, more than 10 for sure. I love it and big thanks for it!
My pleasure bargla, that's what I made Meeknet for! Don't discount the cartridge just yet, it looks very similar to my one - my one is all plastic (well, apart from the springs and the ball bearings). But yes, they do fizzle out over 20 years!
My CD holder was actually stuck inside the machine and it couldn't be ejected... Oh well I had to remove the whole machine, remove the cover and manually unstuck the holder. It was the spring loading system inside the machine got old and became sticky. But even I cleaned and re-greased the mechanism, it will still get stuck sometimes and I just usually give it couple gentle smacks to unstuck it.

So if i buy a CD rack, (I found a few for less than $100) I can just insert it in the compartment in the trunk, and then it will appear on the mode inside? Please help me out. Thank you
There is a reset hole next to the eject button - poke that with a pin to see if it will restart. But, unfortunately they do fail and then they don't eject. If it makes whirring noises then you have a chance to remove the cover and try and poke the platters back in as the error can be multiple platters coming out at the same time

Tim, do you know how I can test a windshield wiper motor? I have an 1995 BMW 740IL I have all the test equipment but not sure on where to place the test led on the motor connectors as to which one is the positive pin versus negative pin?

Hello Marina, well, it's the right vintage and there were very few variants for the CD changers - you never know your luck!

It is probably doing this because it cannot pull a tray from the cartridge - check yours against this video
